Morning! Oh that is good news, indeed. I was rather convinced myself just on my first viewing of the trailer, that she was in "WOW!" mode when she first saw Anakin's grown up self.

Hee! That was MY reaction to the grown up Anakin too! LOL *ahem, goes back to being a grown-up*

Incidentally, I sent a friend of mine who's never seen a SW movie, let alone AotC, a pic of A/P from the first kiss scene. Her reaction was: "You can almost see the sparks between them fly off the screen." This from a SINGLE photo! I am vindicated, she says in relief.

**Edited to say: AFTERNOON, Undomiel. LOL, it is actually afternoon in South Africa, but I have no web access at the office! And before that I was sleeping (obviously), so I got really behind.

I thought I'd share comments from a mail I just received from a friend:
I can relate on Attack of the Clones. I went to see it because I was intrigued by the promos. I'm not a huge Star Wars fan, but I thought the movie was very good. I felt that Hayden Christensen did a very good job as Anakin. It's a delicate balance making the character sympathetic when the audience knows what's in his future and I thought he did a great job showing the rebellious teenager side of Anakin as well as hints of the powerful man that he is becoming. Plus, you can literally see his emotions roll across his face. Suffice it to say that I liked it. LOL I've got to say that I was surprised by how open he was with Padme. There was no manipulation on his part. She knew what she was getting into and chose to pursue the relationship anyway.

My friend brings up an interesting point (apart from more validation that we are NOT crazy about the movie!) and that is the lack of manipulation from the side of Anakin towards Padme. I guess because we all know he later becomes DV, many people have trouble to see that he has NO evil ulterior motives when dealing with Padme. She is simply the girl he had been dreaming of for 10 years and has now started to love even more. I think this might be because it used to be so clear-cut: DV and the Emperor were evil, period. With this movie, GL has blurred those lines. He has started showing us that Anakin was once a guy who loved a girl, who had a heart that COULD love so completely and who had dreams and aspirations and who felt hurt.

The more I think about this, the more in awe I am of the subtext in the movie!

I think that's obvious from the incredible vulnerability that Vader shows in ROTJ. It has to come from some where.

I think a large part of this comes from knowing the OT so well. WE are judging Anakin on the basis of what he will become. It would be very interesting indeed to see how the character is viewed thru people who have seen TPM, but dont' know the OT, or that Anakin becomes Vader (but under what rock are we going to find said person?). In order to fully understand and appreciate Anakin, we have to almost temporarily forget what he becomes, and judge him only one what we should know at this point. (Forget he is vader if that is possible). We know he is going to become the Galactic Super Bad@$$, but he isn't yet. Too many people assume the worst, because well he does eventually become the worst. (Now that made sense -- not!)

We need to stop looking for Vader and just look for Ani. George is being cruel by showing us just how human he really is, and how any of us could make similiar desions. Instead of being Damien, or the Bad Seed, he is innocence turned sideway,s manipulated and corrupted. The choices were his, but the situtation and outside influences were beyond his control.

How many of us in his shoes, would have turned down uncondional true love from the person of our dreams? How many of us would give up the only family we have ever known for an uncertain life, even if it means our dreams come true? Now imagine making this decision at 9, and leaving behind everything you've ever known to follow stangers to a tottaly foreign place, where everything is different, people look at you funny and you feel completey out of place? Now add some force talent, and a few extreme events to the whole thing?

I doubt any of us, would come out with out a few emotional scars either.

Anakin is probably one of the most flawed, feeling human characters in the whole trilogy. We don't have to agree with his choices, in many cases I dont'. But I can sure understand why he would make those choices. I only need to understand where he is comming from.

Dang, I don't think I'm going to make it through Ep III. sad IamZam, you are SO right! GL is evil! LOL I found myself feeling completely different about the final showdown between DV and Luke when I rewatched RotJ the other day. GL has already reduced me to this. I'm not sure I'm going to live through the complete angst that will be Ep III. sad

I want to see Anakin being in love, even if just for a little while. I want to see him go ga-ga over his pregnant wife, not slaughter all the Jedi! Ack! Why do I torture myself so! wink

AAAKK!! My whole world :o (Well my SW world --LOL) was turned upside down by this movie. Just when I thought I knew SW, Uncle Flannel Man up and messes with my head. I hated Vader, now I can't stop analyzing him. LOL.. The last thing I ever thought I'd be doing was psycho analzing Darth Freaking Vader. grin Who knew a simple Villian in black could be such a complex person. And I dont' want him to go bad... cry Waaa!!

IamZAM- LOL!!! Uncle Flanneled One??? Well I guess that's better than what I usually call him, I usually just say God Lucas grin

Guess I had one up on you. I figured when these films were being made and GL first announced EP 1 would begin production, I knew the ONLY way the films would work and be successful is if we fell head over heels in love w/ Anakin Skywalker, so that we could all rejoice our poor hearts out when he finally defeats Palpatine.

Thank God Lucas, he knows what he is doing!

I can just see the posts already. Those that were crying their heart out, vs. those who think Anakin wasn't evil enough, or they didn't hate him vs. the bashers and oh man..

Then the kleenex count in the EPIII tragic end to the love story thread?? I for one am crying just at the thought, the actuality well its a good thing we all have our little groups comming up. Man its gonna be the most deprssing thing I've ever looked forward to.
