Pairings:Jaina/Zekk,Jaina/Jag,Jacen/Tenel Ka
Summary:It is two years after the fight against the Yuuzhan Vong and Luke Skywalker has succefully rebuilt the Jedi Academy,Princess Leia has started investigating the possible reconstruction of Coruscant,and Jagged Fel and Jaina Solo are getting married.However,due to their duties and personal reasons Jaina and her friend Zekk will not be able to see eachother again in maybe ten years.Jaina knows that Zekk has feelings for her,but not how he truly feels about her.Wanting to help her friend Zekk,Queen Mother Tenel Ka has set up a celebration party on Hapes the night before the wedding so that he may have one last chance to tell Jaina how he really feels.Meanwhile,Jacen Solo,not knowing the party's secret motive,decides to take this oppurtunity and try to impress Tenel Ka.




Chapter 1:Many Greetings


Queen Mother Tenel Ka stood at the entrance to the Hapes' palace dining room where the so-called engangement party was being was being held.Almost every Jedi Knight in the galaxy was there along with many pilots who had helped in the Yuuzhan Vong War.She wore a beautiful red gown as she greeted everyone that came into the palace.Tahiri Veila and a young man came up to the entrance.She was wearing a beautiful,black,glittering dress with a matching scarf wrapped around her neck.The young man wore a simple tuxedo.They bowed to Tenel Ka and smiled.
"Tahiri,glad you could make it,"said Tenel Ka."And this must be Uldir,correct?"
"I'm glad I could make it too,and yes this is Uldir,my date,"she answered.Uldir took a small bow.
"Pleasure to meet you,your majesty,"he said.
"Thanks."They both went inside.Next came Jacen Solo.He was dressed in ceremonial Jedi robes.He blushed slightly as he came toward the entrance.He bowed to Tenel Ka also and handed her a bouqet of green,blue and pink flowers.
"Hi Tenel Ka,"he said."I picked these for you."Tenel Ka sniffed them.
"They're my favorite,"she said to the young man.
"I know."Just then,another young man came up toward Tenel Ka.He was dressed in Hapian armour and had long locks of golden hair and little blonde goatee.
"My,your majesty,"he kissed her hand."Your look ravishing tonight.I do believe you are probably the most lovely star out here in this.."he kept rambling on like this for two minutes before going inside.When he left,Jacen groaned angrily.Oh,man.Was he trying to hit on her?Well,no way am I going to let him ruin my plans,thought Jacen as he went inside the palace.He had mostly come to this party to try and impress Tenel Ka,but now he might have trouble if there was going to be another guy doing the same.

Zekk walked up to the entrance,only to be blocked by Tenel Ka.
"Trying to sneak past me?"she said with a grin on her face.Zekk laughed nervously and scratched the back of his head.
"Sort of,"he said.Tenel Ka pointed a finger at him and said strongly,"Look,Zekk,I put alot of effort in this party just so you could talk to Jaina before she and that pilot get married.Now I don't want you to chicken out like the last forty times you tried to talk to her."
"Don't worry,Tenel Ka.I'll talk to her,but I have to wait till I can get her alone,"he responded.The whole reason this party was set up was so that Zekk could have one last chance to tell Jaina how he really felt about her before she married Jagged Fel.Tenel Ka and Zekk at that time weren't really getting along with Fel.
"Don't worry Zekk.It is not like she's going to hate you,"Tenel Ka told him.
"Yeah."
"It's not like she going to be mad that you never told her your true feelings until when she was about to get married and when you could just put more pressure on her."Tenel Ka started to snicker.
"That's not funny,"said Zekk.
"I'm sorry.I was just trying to cheer you up."
Zekk sighed and slowly walked through the entrance.
"Just wish me good luck,okay,"he said.
"Okay,good luck."

Chapter 2:Confrontation

Zekk walked into the the large dining room.The long tables were pushed to the all the way to the side walls near the windows so that there would be space for people to dance.Peaceful orchestral music played softly but that did not stop Zekk's hands from shaking.Across the room stood Jaina Solo and her fiance,Jag Fel.Zekk stared in awe through the crowds of couples waltzing.She was wearing a magnificent golden dress.He walked over to her,took a deep breath and put on a smile.
"Um,hey Jaina,"he said.Jaina turned away from the Jedi Knight she was talking to.She flashed a bright smile at him.Her long,dark brown hair twinkled in the room's light.
"Zekk?I didn't know you were here,"she said.She gave Zekk a friendly hug.Zekk closed his eyes and took a short wiff of the sweet aroma of her perfume..Jaina slowly pulled away from him.
"So,how are you doing,Zekk?"Jaina asked.
"Fine,I'm leaving for Coruscant soon,"he answered.
"Will you be able to make it to the wedding?"
"Yeah..you know it's hard to believe that we won't see eachother in awhile after tomorrow."
"I know.You'll be working on Coruscant and the galactic rim,and me helping Rogue Squadron on Ithor and in Chiss Space.Not to mention raising a family."
Zekk sighed and poured himself a glass of punch.Maybe now is the time to talk to her.Jag isn't looking,he thought,I could take her into the garden or lounge.Just then,Jag came and wrapped his arms around Jaina.He kissed her on the neck and cheek and looked up at Zekk.Jealousy started to flow through Zekk's body.
"So,you having a good time?"Jag asked his future wife.
"Of course,Jagged,"Jaina answered."Oh,dear,you remember Zekk."
"Certainly.Good to see you again,"Jag shook Zekk's hand.
"Good to see you again too,"said Zekk.He looked back at Jaina."Uh..excuse me I think I need to go speak to Tenel Ka."He then walked away before Jaina or Jag could say anything else.Damn it!How am I going to get her alone if she's going to be with him all the time!Zekk kept thinking this to himself as he stormed off.

Chapter 3:Competition

Jacen sat at one of the dining room tables.He continuously watched the Hapian soldier he had seen at the palace entrance.From one of the servants he had learned that his name was Kenielve,a man who helped defend Hapes in the Vong War.Kenielve kept on following Tenel Ka.Jacen slowly got up from his seat and walked over to where Tenel Ka was standing.Kenielve was talking to her when he got there.He was telling Tenel Ka about what he did during the war.Tenel Ka seemed to listen with great interest.She reached for a glass and turned to a bottle of wine in front of her.Jacen grabbed it poured some of its contents into her cup.Kenielve stopped talking and looked up at Jacen.His face was turning red with anger.He didn't want some Jedi butting into his chances to make the Queen Mother like him.Tenel Ka took a drink out of her glass.
"Thanks,Jacen,"she said.Jacen smiled and looked at Kenielve.
"You're welcome Tenel Ka,"he said."Say,I was just wondering.."Jacen was then suddenly interrupted by Kenielve.
"Would you like to dance?"he said.Tenel Ka turned to the Hapian soldier.
"I'd love to."
Jacen was furious.How dare he try to dance with his woman.He felt so much like punching him,but then that would make Tenel Ka hate him.He groaned and sat down at the table and watched her and Kenielve dance in the middle of the room not too far from where he was.He picked up a small knife and began to tap the table with its tip repeatedly.Kenielve looked over at Jacen and let out a sneer as if saying:"I'm winning."

Chapter 4:Holding Back
Zekk sat at the table,watching Jaina and Jag dance.He took a bite out of the stew in front him.He didn't get how Jaina could marry him.She was too good for a guy like Jag.Tenel Ka,who was not too far from Zekk,stopped dancing with Kenielve and walked over to him.She pulled out a chair and sat next to her friend.
"Did you talk to Jaina,"she asked.Zekk spoonful of stew into his mouth and swallowed.
"No,Jag got in the way before I could ask her to join me anywhere.Stupid pilot,he just won't stay out way."Tenel Ka looked at Zekk and then over at Jaina not too far away.
"Zekk,if you ask her to join you somewhere so you can talk to her,she'll just tell Jag to wait for her.Its not that hard,"she told him.Zekk groaned.
"What if he gets suspicious or asks what I want to talk to her about?"
"You're just gonna have to take that risk."
"I don't think I can."
Tenel Ka stood up walk away.Before she left Zekk's sight,she turned around and said,"Zekk are you sure its Jag that's holding you back or yourself."Zekk thought about himself for a minute.Could he had really been the one that had made him not talk to Jaina when he had the chance?

Chapter 5:The Warrior

Jacen stood on the balcony and watched Hapes' night-sky.He did not want go back inside on account of he wouldn't be with Tenel Ka.Instead that stupid soldier would be all over her.Maybe if he could somehow get him away from her he may have a chance to talk to her,but that would probably never happen.
Just then,Kenielve walked over and stood right next to him."Oh,it's you,"he said angrily.Kenielve looked over at Jacen and grinned.
"Yes it is me,the one Ms.Tenel Ka chose over you.Though,I'm not surprised she wanted dance with me instead,"he said.
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"Oh come now.Did you really expect her to want you?You're just like most of the other Jedi,except for ones like Kyp Durron and the Queen Mother.You're a coward."
"A coward!?Why you no good son of a.."
"Wait,I'm not finished.You're a coward because like the other Jedi,you hid during the Vong War leaving people like Kyp Durron and I to defend the Mid-Rim on our own.I don't have anything against the Jedi,just against Jedi like you and your uncle.You waited around leaving bands of other Jedi to answer the calls of other systems.Where were you and Luke Skywalker when Glee Anselm called for aid?Nowhere and who stopped that beautiful system from being destroyed,it was Kyp Durron.Where were you and Luke Skywalker when Geonosis needed someone to stop the Yuuzhan Vong from invading their astroid field mines and diminishing their food supply?I'll tell you who,me and many great Hapian pilots who lost their lives protecting the Geonosians even after what they did during the Clone War."
"Being a warrior isn't everything to a girl,Kenielve,"said Jacen.
"True,but I'll tell you one thing.Young Jedi women don't like young Jedi guys who were afraid to use the Force when it was needed.Trust me Solo,to her you are a fellow Jedi student and friend,and that is all you will ever be.You'll never be anything more in her eyes,"Kenielve responded.That was the last straw for Jacen.He slammed his elbow into the man's back and pushed him off the balcony.He fell through the trees and bushes at the bottom.He could hear the young man groaning in pain on the ground.Jacen made for the door leading back to the party.Maybe now he would have a chance to be with Tenel Ka.

Chapter 6:Interrogation

Jacen walked to the edge of the dining room.In front of him was Tenel Ka speaking with Tahiri.He kept getting more nervous as he came near her.
"Hey Tenel Ka,"he said to.She turned around and smiled at him.
"Oh,hi Jacen,"Tenel Ka said.Jacen looked at the outstanding red dress she was wearing.
"Um..Tenel Ka,"he started."Would you like to dance?"
"Well,I was waiting to finish my dance with Mr.Kenielve,but I can't seem to find him anywhere."
"I saw him,"said Tahiri from behind Tenel Ka."He was out on the balcony with you,Jacen."
"I didn't see him,"said Jacen.
"How couldn't you?You were talking to him."
"No I wasn't,Tahiri."Jacen's voice was getting angrier and angrier.
"Why are you getting so defensive?"asked Tenel Ka.
"I'm not getting defensive,"said Jacen.
"Yes you are!"Tahiri told him.
"No I'm not!"Jacen tried to calm himself down.If he got too angry they would suspect somethng and Tenel Ka couldn't know that he pushed her dancing partner off a balcony.
"Tahiri says that she saw you talking to him now do you know where he is?"
"No Tenel Ka,I was talking to him on the balcony and he came back inside."
"Alright,"said Tenel Ka.Jacen sighed.Phew that was a close one he thought.
"Now would you?"Jacen asked her.
"Would I what?"
"Like to dance.I asked you before and you didn't really give me an answer."Tenel Ka thought for moment and then looked back at him.
"Sure,"she said with a smile.Jacen took her hand and led her to the dance floor.He just hoped that Kenielve didn't regain consiousness soon.

Chapter 7:I Need to Tell You..


Zekk walked through the garden of the palace.He had seen Jaina walk out there to get some fresh air and now he thought that maybe now was the time to talk to her.He stumpled through through the trees and flower beds desperately trying to find her.He didn't know why that for all these years he had pretended not to have deep feelings for her.Before he had gone to the Jedi Academy with her,he never told her how he really felt because he thought that she couldn't feel the same way because he wasn't a Jedi.But even when he was at the Academy he was too scared to tell her and when she got together with Fel he pretended not to even notice her anymore.Zekk walked out of the trees and into a small clearing where a small stream flowed.At the bank of the stream sat Jaina Solo.Her smooth and soft skin shone in the blue moonlight;her dark brown hair swayed in warm night breeze.Zekk took a long look at her.To him,Jaina was probably the most beautiful woman in the universe.He swore that he could see a faint white glow around her body like some magical being out of a fairy tale.His green eyes stared and stared at her.Whoever had her heart was probably the luckiest man who ever lived.

Zekk walked over and sat down beside Jaina.He pulled back a strand of black hair and scooted closer to her.She was looking up into the sky and acted as though Zekk wasn't even near her.
"Great view isn't it?"she said.Zekk didn't bother to look up,instead he just gazed at her.
"Yes..it is,"he replied softly.
"You know,before I wasn't even able to look at the stars without worrying about another planet being in danger."
"Yeah.It's good that things are to the way they should be."Jaina looked back over at him and smiled.Zekk took a deep breath.Now was the time to tell her.Now was the time to tell her how much he loved her,how much he adored her.
"Jaina,there's something I need to tell you that I've been trying to tell you for a long time."
"What is it Zekk?"
"Well you know how we're going to be away from eachother a long time?"
"Yeah."
"Jaina I.."Zekk was interrupted by loud whirring sound from above.He and Jaina looked up and saw a large cruiser fly through the air.Jaina immediately stood up.
"Oh,the pilots from Rogue Squadron are finally here.Zekk could you hold on for a minute,"she exclaimed.Zekk wanted to tell her that it couldn't wait,but he just found himself saying,
"Sure."Jaina began to walk away.Zekk couldn't hold on it took him a long time to get up the courage to talk to her.
"Jaina,"he said.She turned around."Could you meet me here in an hour."Jaina nodded and walked out of his sight.Zekk was relieved to know that he could talk to her later on,that way he could finally relax for a few minutes.Suddenly,Zekk heard a rustling in the bushes to his left.He motioned toward them with great caution and put his hand on his lightsaber hilt.You never know what kind of beasts sneak into Hapian gardens.A dark figure jumped out at him and fell on the ground.Zekk was about to ignite his blade when he realized that the creature wasn't a beast but a young man with blonde hair and a short beard.He stood up and looked at Zekk.He had many wounds on him and was very tired.He also seemed to be wearing a strange suit of armor.
"Oh great,another one,"he said."Are you gonna try to kill me too?"
"What happened to you?"Zekk asked.
"Take me inside and I'll tell you."

Chapter 8:Wounded Soldier

Tahiri strolled on into the lounge.She was hoping to find Mr.Kenielve;she wasn't very satisfied with Jacen's response.The lounge was a shining gold room with a superb red sofa and a few green chairs.It had a small library as well so one could go on in and read.The carpeting was also a flashy gold and at the end of the room there was huge window which gave a perfect view of Hapes moon and stars.Tahiri was suprised to find that the lights were already on.She looked over to a chair on the right near the large book shelves only to see Zekk sitting.
"What are you doing here?"she asked him.
"Helping him,"Zekk answered,pointing to the read sofa right beside him.Tahiri could only see the legs of the person who was in the chair.She walked closer and closer and gasped when the full body of a young Hapian soldier laid down on it.He had many bandages on his arm and his head.Tahiri recognized the man as Mr.Kenielve.
"What happened?"she asked as she knelt down beside the sofa.Kenielve appeared to be asleep.
"He was pushed off the balcony,so he says."
"He's in real bad condition."
"Yeah,I scanned him.Apparently,the only damage to the skull is just a couple of cuts on the skin of scalp and forhead,but his arm is broken and I had to pull a bunch of thorns and twigs out his legs.Not only that,his spine is in really bad shape.Though,if it weren't for that armour he's wearing,he could be in worst shape."Tahiri couldn't believe it.What cruel person would do such a horrible thing?
"I wonder who'd want to do this to a man."
"He said who pushed him,"Zekk told her.Tahiri looked over at him and asked who did it.Zekk seemed to hesitate with the answer.
"He said.."he started."He said Jacen pushed off of the balcony."
"Jacen!?No,that's impossible!"
"Well,according to him,Jacen got jealous because he was dancing with Tenel Ka so he pushed him off that way she could pay more attention to him."
"That's not like him."
"I'm having trouble believing it too,you think he's lying."
"Not sure...but Jacen did act a little funny when Tenel Ka and I asked him where Mr.Kenielve was."Tahiri looked back over at the wounded soldier.She could sense that what the man had told Zekk was true.Why would anyone lie about the person who pushed them off and not only that but Kenielve was with Jacen on the balcony last.Zekk started to search through the tall bookshelves to see if there was anything that would help him find a way to properly bandage Kenielve's leg.
"I think I'm going to go have a talk with Tenel Ka,"Tahiri said angrily."And Jacen."She rushed out of the lounge and slammed the door as hard as she could.
