Okay, since this story is long long and the majority of pages don't have posts, I spent a ton of time sifting through 95 pages doing post links until my eyes hurt from scrolling. I'll add to this as I post so you all don't have to search through all of the pages to find the posts.

Family Ties
~~~~~~
Hyperspace is the most lonely place in the galaxy. The ship is cut off from all communication, and with the smallest error, the pilot can end up bringing the ship out in the middle of a sun.
Jagged Fel thought that that was a load of nonsense. Hyperspace was beautiful. The sight of the stars rushing past always amazed him. He thought it was one of the most wonderful places in the galaxy. And when he had company, he was never lonely.
But when the company is your girlfriend’s twin brother, it can be a little hard not to go nuts.
“I still don’t get it,” Jacen Solo said.
Jag sighed. “It’s quite simple.”
“For someone who practically grew up on a military base, maybe, but I know nothing about this stuff.”
“I thought you were supposed to be a genius.”
“No, that’s Anakin.”
Jag sighed and wondered for the millionth time why no one had explained military ranking to Jacen before promoting him. “Would you like the short version, or the one with the charts and diagrams?”
“Well, since the short version didn’t work, lets move on to the charts and diagrams.”
Jag looked over to see if Jacen was being funny or if he was serious. There was no glint of humor in the Jedi’s eyes, only curiosity.
Jag pushed himself out of the pilot’s seat and motioned for Jacen to follow him. The younger man did so.
Jag led Jacen into his room and gestured for the other man to have a seat on the bed. Jacen did so. Jag pulled out an erase board and a marker and proceeded to, for what felt like the millionth time, explain the military ranking system.
“ . . . and at the top of the food chain we have the Generals, Kre’fey, Bel Ibis, and Antilles, and the head honcho, Admiral Sovv.”
“I get it.”
Jag let out a loud whoop. “Finally!”
“But I still don’t get the difference between ‘Jedi Major’ and ‘Major Jedi.’
“ ‘Jedi Major’ sounds better.”
“That’s all?”
“Yes. The New Republic is loose enough that if an individual has more than one title, than he or she can choose which comes first.”
“So why can’t I?”
“You can, but do you really want Jaina to continue the Major Jedi jokes?”
After the mission on Corellia, Jag and Kyp Durron had decided that Jaina could handle command on her own and went back to their own squadrons, Zindra Daine and Dilan Loran had gone back to the Wraiths, Jocell Nuruodo had gone back to Csilla, and Miza Irokini was dead, which left Jaina with half a squadron. She had filled the empty spaces with Jedi—Alema Rar, Lowbacca, Zekk, Raynar Thul, Tesar, and her little brother Anakin. Jacen had been promoted to major and was made Executive Officer of Twin Suns.
When Jaina heard her brother refer to himself as ‘Major Jedi Jacen Solo’ she had said, “Really? I thought that Uncle Luke was the major Jedi.” It had taken a few hours for Jacen to get the joke, and by that time he had said it a few more times. Jaina kept teasing him about it, which drove him nuts.
Jacen winced. “Good point.”
Jag lounged back against the pillows. “I always have good points.”
Jacen glared at him. “I now understand why you and Jaina get along so well. You’re both cocky, egotistical pilots.”
“Stang straight, Jace.”
Jacen groaned and fell back on the pillows next to Jag. “Why did they even put us together for this?”
“I swear Jaina had a hand in it.”
“She does like to torture us, doesn’t she?”
“Lets get back at her.”
“Ewoks.”
“Hair dye.”
“We’ll drive her nuts.”
They both laughed. “But seriously, I don’t get why I’m here,” Jag said. “You’re a great diplomat, no offense, and a Jedi. You do well in diplomatic situations. I fit your description—cocky, egotistical fighter pilot. I don’t belong trying to recruit strange governments.”
Jacen raised his eyebrows in surprise. “I’m surprised you don’t see,” he said. “You’ve been fighting the Yuuzhan Vong from the beginning. I represent the government and the Jedi. You represent the pilots who are fighting for the survival of the galaxy.”
“Very motivational speech.”
“Thanks. I’ll need it. I’ve never even heard of this place.”
“I have.”
“When?”
Jag shrugged. “I can’t remember. Probably in school.”
“Why would you learn about this place in school? And how did the Chiss know about it when the New Republic didn’t?”
Jag propped himself up on his elbow. “Thrawn was very close to Emperor Palpatine. He knew a lot of things that most people didn’t. The library on Csilla is huge. Some information about this planet must have survived.”
“Survived what?”
“If I had to guess, I’d say the Jedi Purges.”
“But what would the Purges have to do with this planet?”
Jag shrugged. “I have no idea. You know more about the Jedi than I do.”
“I thought you said that you learned about it in school.”
“I never said that. I said that I’d heard about it in school. I never paid attention to the teachers.”
Jacen grinned. “Yet another way you are similar to my sister.”
“What I said about not paying attention I school does not get repeated to Malisia.”
“Understood. You are going to have a tough time helping with homework.”
“Oh, I’m not going to be the one helping with homework.”
“Who is, Jaina?”
“No, I think that Uncle Jacen will be more suited to the task.”
Jacen rolled his eyes. “Oh, thanks.”
“That was a compliment.”
“I bet it was. You’re going to dump your daughter on me for homework help. Real compliment.”
“Well, I can always have Anakin help. He is, after all, the genus in the family.”
“Who said that?”
“You did.”
“I’ll help her. Anakin would just twist her.”
Jag looked offended. “I’m going for twisted. My family and yours combined? How could she end up otherwise?”
Jacen laughed. “You’re probably right.”
The alarm sounded. Jag and Jacen rushed to the cockpit. Jag sat down in the pilots seat, and Jacen took copilot. Jag brought the ship out of hyperspace. A beautiful, blue/green planet filled the viewport.
Jag turned to Jacen. “Did they brief you on what we’re supposed to do when we land?”
“Yeah. I introduce us as Major Jedi Jacen Solo and Colonel Jag Fel, then we ask for an appointment with the head of their government.”
“Jace, I think I’d better do the introductions.”
“Why?”
“Because they might have heard that the major Jedi is Luke Skywalker, and wonder if he died or something.”
“Very funny, Jag.”
“Do you want to introduce yourself that way?”
“No, you can have the introductions.”
“Okay. So what’s this place called, again?”
“Naboo.”
“Naboo. Interesting name.”
Jacen nodded and pointed to the viewport. “Watch where you’re going.”
The ship’s long-distance comlink buzzed. “Want to take care of that, oh Major Jedi?”
Jacen glared at his friend and clicked the com on. A panicked voice filled the cockpit. “Who are you?”
“We’re delegates from the New Republic.”
“Why are you here?”
“We just want to talk. Don’t worry, we aren’t going to hurt you.”
“Our sensors pick up two life forms on your ship.”
Jacen nodded, then remembered that he couldn’t be seen. “Yes. Listen, can we talk to your prime minister or chief of state or whatever you call your leader?”
Jag grinned. ‘Take us to your leader,” he said, soft enough that only Jacen heard it.
Jace grinned and rolled his eyes. “You’ve been watching way too many cartoons,” he said softly.
The man from Naboo Control said, “King Karis will send a delegation to pick you up at the hanger bay in the Theed Palace. Coordinates are being sent. Naboo control out.” The comlink shut off.
“King, huh?” Jag asked. “I didn’t know many places still had a monarchy.”
Jacen shrugged. “They aren’t part of any intersystem government that we know of. It makes sense that they would be a monarchy, even a democratic one.”
Jag nodded as he guided the ship through the atmosphere. “You know more about this stuff than I do.”
After the ship left the atmosphere, there were lush green forests, wide blue rivers, and open plains. Jag raised his eyebrows in surprise. “Wow,” Jacen said. “It’s beautiful.”
“Check out the city.”
The capital city was somewhat small, with low buildings centering around a main lane with what looked like shops. The lane led up to a huge, beautiful palace, and behind the palace were waterfalls.
Jag landed in the hanger bay, as directed. A small delegation was waiting for them. “That must be our welcoming party.”
Jacen sighed. “You sound like my father.”
The two men unbuckled their crash webbing and left the cockpit. Before Jag let down the boarding ramp, he asked, “Do I look presentable, oh Major Jedi?”
Jacen rolled his eyes and let the ramp down and he and Jag walked over to the waiting delegation.
The man in the front bowed slightly. “I am King Karis of the Naboo. Who are you, and why are you here?”
Karis was about Jacen’s height, with short-cropped blonde hair and blue eyes. He carried himself with a regal air. He was in charge and he knew it, and he acted as if he was used to having his way.
“I am Colonel Jag Fel, and this is Jedi Major Jacen Solo. We have been sent by the New Republic with a peace offer and a request for help.”
Karis all but ignored Jag. “A Jedi? We cannot protect you here.”
Jacen shook his head. “I am not looking for protection. As my friend said, we were sent by a legitimate government with a peace offer.”
Karis nodded thoughtfully. “I will consider hearing your offer. For now, you will be guests at this palace, though I must ask you to stay in your rooms for the time being. Is this acceptable?”
He didn’t wait for an answer before motioning to a pair of guards and leaving. The guards marched off in a different direction, obviously expecting to be followed.
They lead Jacen and Jag to a wonderfully decorated suite and left. The men opened the door and stepped in.
It was a very nice suite. There were two queen-sized beds right next to each other with a nightstand in between; a couch in front of a wonderful, though a bit outdated, entertainment system; a bathroom; and a small kitchenette.
Jag nodded. “Nice place.”
“Yeah.” Jacen sat his duffel bag down on one of the beds.
“That King Karis is quite a character. Very spoiled.” Jag noticed that Jacen hadn’t said anything. “Kinda quiet there, Jace. What’s wrong?”
Jacen shrugged. “I don’t know. This place seems somehow familiar.”
“You sad you’d never heard of it before this mission.”
“I haven’t, and that’s what’s strange. I feel like I’ve met Karis somewhere. He kinda reminds me of Mom.”
Jag frowned. “Was that an insult to your mother or a compliment to the king?”
“I’m not sure.”
Jag lay down on his bed. “If something’s bothering you, maybe you should let me handle this.”
Jacen shook his head. “No, I’ll help. Maybe I can figure out what’s wrong with me.”
******
Karis strode into the throne room. His wife, Nycola, was talking to his mother.
Nycola looked up. “Who are the visitors?”
“Two men from a government called the New Republic. They want to make a peace offering.”
“Where are they?”
“In the guest wing of the palace.”
Nycola frowned, scared. “Are you just going to trust them?”
Her mother-in-law put a hand on her shoulder. “Nycola, I know you are too young to remember, but Naboo used to have visitors all the time.”
Karis frowned. “Times have changed, Mother. One of them is a Jedi.”
Nycola gasped. Her long blonde hair, pulled back in a bun, started to fall around her face. “You could feel him?”
“No, the other introduced him as such. He also holds a military ranking.”
His mother shook her head. “Impossible. The Jedi are not allowed to serve in the military.”
Nycola shivered. “Was the other one a Jedi?”
“No, just a military man.”
The other woman tilted her chin to look at her son. The mid-morning rays caught her brown hair, now mostly gray. Her manner was queenly, and Nycola admired her composure in the face of possible danger, as many had done before. “Are you going to speak with them?”
Karis sat down with his mother and wife. “I’m not sure.”
His mother said, “It would do no harm to hear them out.”
Karis frowned. “Do you remember the deal?”
“The deal we made was with the Emperor. He is dead.”
“How can we be sure?”
The woman frowned at her son. “The reports are clear. Palpatine is dead.”
“But his minion—”
“Is dead as well. Don’t speak of him that way, Karis.”
“From all reports, he was a terrible Sith Lord. Not the way you remember him, mother.”
“You sound like Obi-Wan.”
“Mother—”
“Meet with them. Hear what they have to say. Then make a decision whether to trust them or not.”
With that, Padme Skywalker swept out of the room.
Maybe Jacen'll tell Padmé that he's the son of Leia Organa Solo, Nephew of Luke Skywalker...*cackles* That'll be just wonderful.
Post now!!
~~~~~~
Jag rolled his eyes. “Have I mentioned that I hate this?”
“At least twice in the last minute.” Jacen sighed. He knew that part of Jag’s complaining was to try to cheer him up. He knew that his friend was worried about him.
Jag heaved a long-suffering sigh and straightened his uniform. Jacen grinned. “C’mon, it can’t be that bad.”
“Yes it can. Have you every been in one of these?”
“I’m wearing one.”
“Right.”
Jacen smiled. “Seriously, Jag, I’m fine.”
Jag nodded. “Why do you suppose they want to meet with us over dinner?”
“I have no idea. I wonder if the entire royal family is gonna be there.”
“Why? Looking for a cute girl?”
“I’ve already got one, thanks.”
Jag nodded and the doorbell rang. Jacen grinned. “Let’s go.”
******
The room they were dining in was extravagantly beautiful, with a huge window overlooking the waterfall. Jacen sighed internally. It was very formal. His guess was right—it looked like the entire family was there.
King Karis was at the head of the table. He was dressed in what looked like a cross between a decorated military uniform and robes of state. There were also two other women, a creature of a species Jacen had never seen before, and a girl and a boy about Jacen’s age.
It was going to be a long night.
******
Troy Skywalker tried to hide his fidgeting. He didn’t approve of these strangers in military uniforms. He didn’t approve of strangers, period.
His sister, Celeste, who was sitting next to him, didn’t seem to mind at all. Troy frowned at her.
Celeste, they could hurt us
he sent through their Force bond.
They’re very cute. Especially that tall, dark-haired one.
Troy rolled his eyes. All Cel thought about these days was hanging out with her friends and flirting with cute boys. He was defiantly the more mature twin.
His grandmother, Padme, touched his knee under the table and shook her head slightly. He knew that look. He was supposed to show the respect and dignity of the Prince of Naboo, and pay attention to what their guests said.

Karis stood up and introduced his family to Jag and Jacen. “This is my beautiful wife, Nycola, our children, Celeste and Troy, my mother, Padme, and Senator Jar-Jar Binks of the Naboo.
Jacen smiled slightly and Jag inclined his head in greeting. After they had sat down, Queen Nycola started in on them. “Why are you here?”
Jag nodded to Jacen, clearly letting the younger man handle this. Jacen cleared his throat. “We were sent by the New Republic government to negotiate a peace treaty.”
Karis frowned. “How did you find us?”
Jag took over. “We’ve had scouts combing this region to find a good spot for a new military base. They found this planet, and because you are uncharted on any of our maps, the government was curious.”
Padme frowned. “Why do you need a military base?”
“We’re in the middle of a war, ma’am. We want to build up a hidden base to attack our enemy from, because our main base in on our capital and is endangering millions of people.”
“Coruscant is not the best place to have military base,” Padme agreed.
Jacen and Jag exchanged a look. “Tell me,” Jacen said. “How long has it been since you have had contact with the rest of the galaxy?”
Karis frowned. “Since the second Death Star was destroyed, along with Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine.”
Jag sighed wearily, and indicated to Jacen that he was not going to handle this.
Jacen pressed his lips together. “A lot has happened since then,” he said slowly.
Obviously a new Republic has risen,” Padme said.
Jag nodded. “And fallen and risen again.”
Jacen nodded. “The Jedi are no longer hunted. A new Jedi Order has risen and the former Rebel Alliance has made peace with the Imperial Remnant.”
Padme smiled. Jacen took a closer look at her, and realized that she looked a lot like his mother.
I wonder where my grandmother was from. Maybe she came from here.
“There is a Jedi Order?” she asked.
Jacen nodded. “I’m part of it.”
Padme smiled again. “Maybe you could tell me about it.”
Jacen nodded and turned his attention to Karis. “Speaking of Jedi, did you know that you and your children are force sensitive?”
Karis nodded. “Yes, I do.”
Jag kicked Jacen under the table. As interesting as this was, they really needed to get to the point.
Jacen gave Jag a ‘go ahead’ look. Jag nodded slightly. “A few years ago, a new menace threatened the galaxy. Intergalactic invaders called the Yuuzhan Vong have captured over half the galaxy, including Coruscant. The New Republic is barely holding on. There haven’t been any major battles in the last six months, since the death of their Warmaster, but there will be more fighting soon. We came to ask for any help you can give us.”
Nycola shook her head. “Impossible. Naboo is a peaceful planet. We do not fight. We have a deal with the Emperor. We stay secluded here, and we stay safe.”
Jag frowned. “The emperor has been dead for a quarter of a century. The Vong won’t make a deal with you. If you don’t fight, you’ll die.”
Troy spoke up for the first time. “We don’t hurt anybody. These beings won’t hurt us if we keep out of it.”
Jag shook his head. “I know you don’t believe me, but they will.”
Troy opened his mouth to retort, but Jacen cut him off. “Don’t argue, you won’t win.”
Padme frowned. “When the emperor rose, Naboo was the first planet to fall under his grasp. Now we are ignored. Why should we help?”
Jag softened. The woman clearly wanted to help, but was a politician enough that she needed to be sure. “Mrs. . . I’m sorry, I don’t know your last name.”
“Skywalker.”
Jag’s fork clattered onto his plate. Jacen’s jaw dropped. After a few moments of silence, Jacen coughed and said, “I’m sorry, I think I heard wrong. Did you say Skywalker?”
Padme nodded. Jacen looked at Jag for help. Jag asked. “Any relation to Luke Skywalker?”
Padme frowned slightly. “Yes. Do you know him?”
Jacen burst into a coughing fit. Jag nodded. “Not well.”
Jacen took a drink of water. ‘He’s the head of the Jedi Order.”
“Then you know my brother,” Karis stated.
“Brother?” Jacen asked. “I thought he only had a sister. Leia.”
Karis shook his head. “No, we are triplets. You know my sister?”
Just a little
Jacen thought.
I think I’ve seen she before. Like when she gave birth t me.
Jag realized that Jacen wasn’t going to be capable of normal speech. “She was very influential in the government for the first ten years, and she has three children in the military.”
Padme sat back and nodded to herself.
For the first time, the alien spoke up. “Well, weesa gonna go see da kids or what? Queen Amidoll, dissen yousa children! Ani’s children!”
Jacen jumped. Karis frowned. “We will defiantly discuss this.” Jacen nodded and stared vacantly out the window. “You man, are you all right?”
Jacen jumped again. “Huh? Um, yeah, I’m fine.”
Celeste leaned closer to Jag. “Speaking of relations, my father said that your name was Fel. Any relation to Soontir Fel of the 181st?”
Jag looked at Celeste for the first time. She had beautiful blonde hair that curved gently down to the middle of her back, and lovely blue eyes. “He’s my father.”
She looked delighted. “He’s a very good pilot.”
“Are you a pilot?”
She laughed. “Not in a military, but I can fly.”
Jag smiled. “I’ll sim you sometime, then.”
She gave him a flirting glance. “Sounds like a date.”
