	Title: Bonds of Light Author: Anahiri Parts: Pro, 1-? Timeline: NJO (also AU after AoTC with the basic idea of the third movie taken into consideration) Genre: Romance, action, TC Rating: PG13, just to be on the safe side Spoilers: The major idea of part one is taken from SbS... its a rewritten form of the novel. There will also be some plot elements from DJ introduced eventually. Note: Everything’s nearly exactly the same up to page 473 in the paper back copy of SbS. I have only read 1 JJK book and no other of the ‘younger’ star wars novels, except for one of the JA books. And that wierd series... Galaxy something or other similiar to that. O.o Well, enough of my ranting... next post will be a short prologue, then the AU SBS will start in part 1 Part 1a will be up later today or tomaro afternoon I could really use comments on characterization, and i only have one of the JJK's books... so I if I get some background wrong don't hesitate to correct me! 	Prologue – Angels The sleek ship floated through space, its engines were cold. Ice had blanketed the outer hull for years. Wires and systems were frozen. Below a layer of frozen water, pulled from the atmosphere of the ship, a monitor counted back. Or at least it had. The numbers were frozen only 10 standard days from the end. Luck seemed to be with the ship for the first time in years, however. For the ice was melting as, for the first time in over thirty-five years, it was entering a solar system. As the ship grew closer to the sun the ice melted back into the atmosphere. The wires and hull began to thaw. 	YodaKenobi, Thank you so much for reviewing! Here's the aforementioned, extremly similiar to SbS part.... In fact I kept reading the passage's before he died over and over again, figuring out how I could change it to get where I wanted with the characters... this is the beggining of how it came out I give credit to the author of Star by STar, Troy Denning for the gist, and even some specific lines, of this. Especially the first 3 paragraphs. ------ Part 1a – Slanted Star Tahiri stood before him, a stalwart figure among the bloodshed. “I’m not going.” “Do it!” He snapped. Tahiri’s face fell; and his heart wrenched. Anakin calmed himself and spoke more gently, “You need…” He glanced at Tekli and the fallen Barabel. “You need to help Tekli. I’ll be along.” Tekli glanced between the two before she spoke, “Yes, Tahiri, Tesar isn’t responding. I cannot move him and work on him both.” Tahiri paused for a moment; a feeling grasped her through the force. Dark dread filled her mind. “No.” Anakin opened his mouth to rebuke her; but she cut him off. “No,” Tahiri stated firmly. “Anakin, either you come with us, or I go with you.” Tahiri’s voice wavered slightly. “If we part… I don’t think I’ll ever see you again.” “You will Tahiri, I pro-“ “Don’t.” She shook her head. “Together, right? It’s what you promised, you said when I was healed, and if I still wanted to go, we’d go. Together. Don’t turn your back on that promise now.” “Tahiri,” Tekli’s voice edged into the conversation. “Tesar is injured; I cannot get him out of here alone. I need you to come with me.” At least let me support you, Tahiri’s thoughts entered his mind. Anakin glanced at her. His legs ached, his side was bleeding. His injuries were horrible; if he wasn’t a Jedi, he knew he would have died from them by now. Tahiri you ne- You’re far worse off then I am… just let me in… I don’t have to be with you to help you. Anakin nodded, Alright The force seemed to sparkle as they opened up fully to one another. He felt her strength, her life, flow into him and hold him up. The pain in his legs dulled, his side felt like a flesh wound. Tahiri’s mind mingled with his, they opened like morning glory’s, straining to meet the golden sun. A flash of white filled his mind, Master Ikrit on Yavin 4 sacrificing himself for them. ~~ I am proud of you, Anakin. Remember—together you are stronger than the sum of your parts. ~~ Anakin reached out and touched Tahiri’s cheek, his palm cupped it lightly. Tahiri knew what he wanted and shook her head, “No, for that you’ll have to come back alive.” The blonde Jedi clicked her saber on; its glow as it stretched out made him smile. “I’ll see you after this is over, I promise.” Through their connection he silently reassured her as he spoke. She nodded as his hand dropped. “I’ll hold you to that, dummy.” She whispered her voice cracked as she turned to help Tekli with Tesar. May the force be with you. And they parted, physically. Tekli, Tahiri, and Tesar disappeared from Anakin’s line of sight; the only thing visible was momentary flashes of Tahiri’s saber above the head’s of Yuuzhan Vong warriors. Focus, he thought. After thumbing his own blade to life, he touched the lambent inside with his mind. The landscape, before an empty void, filled with shadowy figures. Anakin knew instantly that they were Yuuzhan Vong and the Vong’s creations. His eyes opened and he set off toward the main group of warriors. The goal was to get to the door on the other side of the compound before they did. If the Jedi could do that they would have a chance to win this battle. ~ Tahiri slid her saber through another warrior and then twirled to block an amphistaff. She hissed as she felt a throb in her side. Tahiri’s heart cringed as she realized Anakin was hurt worse than anyone had suspected. She did what she could, taking his pain into herself. As her saber took the life of another Yuuzhan Vong warrior she felt Anakin do the same. Behind her Tekli supported Tesar through the force and with her body. Her saber was in one hand, knocking away blows that got passed Tahiri. The Barabel jedi she supported groaned softly, his mind began its journey back to reality. Tekli nearly dropped Tesar as an amphistaff landed a blow on her arm. It’s edge cutting deep, causing her to cry out. Tesar’s eyes opened at the sound. He drew the force into himself and strengthened his legs, taking his weight off of the other jedi. “This one need not be carried any longer, this one can fight.” And he did. ~ The butt of an amphistaff slammed into his side. How Anakin had missed it, he wasn’t sure. The external stitches holding his wound shut burst, and a flash of pain filled his mind. If it hadn’t been for Tahiri’s mental voice crying out to him Anakin may have lost consciousness. As it was he barely brought his blade up to block the next blow. Tahiri worked quickly through the bond, she swept his renewed pain into herself and lent him a new ‘dose’ of her own energy. He sent a wave of gratitude to her as he swept his blade up and caught the warrior in the arm. The saber hit a weak spot in the warrior’s armor and cut through it, leaving nothing but a bloody stump. The Yuuzhan Vong may embrace pain, but that doesn’t mean they can think correctly when it’s instituted amid the heat of battle. The warrior cried out and swung the amphistaff wildly using his remaining arm. Anakin ducked and rolled. By the time he reached his feet he had already swung his saber around and landed a decisive blow to his enemy’s side. The warrior fell, leaving Anakin with a momentary reprieve from the battle. Anakin closed his eyes and breathed deep, when he opened them again he surveyed the area. His hand slipped to his harness and pulled a thermal detonator off. Out of the far corner of the membrane that was the ‘door,’ a tall figure stepped. The figure was a head taller than most human’s and wore a tattered jumpsuit. Anakin frowned and reached out through the force. His eyes widened and he keyed his comm. link. “Imposter!” he warned, “Trying for the pens.” The noise from the battle was nearly deafening, blaster fire filled the air as the imposter revealed his weapon. Across the din a grenade went off, and Jaina yelled for a charge. As the door membrane opened and revealed the warriors inside, Anakin touched Tahiri with his mind. She touched back, giving the impression that she was squeezing his hand. A wave of love and friendship rolled through their bond. A tear slipped down his bloody face. I’m sorry. I thought the bond should play an important role in this story. I had noticed it was downplayed a bit in sbs and decided it needed to be a major player in at least the begging of this fic. Me, kill anakin? No way! More will be up in a day or 2... my computers a bit limited... apparently my math grade is not satsfactory >.< ----------------------------- ---------------------- Part 1B – Slanted Star I’m sorry. Those words echoed through her mind, causing her heart to clench. Tahiri glanced at Tesar and Tekli, they were fighting though injured. She knocked the warrior she was fighting to his knees, gripped her saber tight, and ran. ~ The force filled him; it entered every molecule, every cell of his body. It was amazing. Never before had he heard of anything like this. A raging hurricane filled him, full of the light side, and powered by his emotions. Not emotions of hate or anger, but of love. Love for his family, friends, and above all his love for his best friend, Tahiri. His wounds seemed to disappear entirely, the pain dissipating into the force. His body was being torn apart by the massive storm of the force. There seemed to be no boundary between him and it, no barrier. The air around him crackled with blue-white lightning. Light side lightning. It emanated from every inch of his body, and it swirled up his arm and hand to cover his saber. Anakin was calm. He could feel everything through the force. The Yuuzhan Vong, once blurry shadows felt through the lambent, shone as brightly as stars. Removing his blaster form its holster, he fired as he ran. Every shot hit a Yuuzhan Vong’s foot, all barely peaking out from beneath the membrane door. “Sith Spit,” Jaina yelled over the comm. “The imposter’s escaping!” Anakin glanced over as he reached the door. When he touched the tickle pad the membrane slid shut once more. He could feel the imposter, and the voxyn the imposter was taking with her. The presence was moving away at a rapid speed. “The imposter must have opened up an escape tunnel,” Anakin replied. “Jacen you’re in charge, take everyone and go after her.” “Can’t get there Little Brother,” Jaina’s voice came over the comm. Anakin glanced at the Yuuzhan Vong that separated them from each other. “The path will clear.” He stated. He replaced his blaster into his holster and took up his saber once more. Anakin closed his eyes for a brief second, reaching out to Tahiri. I love you he announced then let the bond fall. He reached out and took more strength from the force surrounding him, attempting to replace the void that was created. When his crystal blue eyes opened, they were filled with determination. The storm around him, in him, expanded. He slashed the tickle pad with his saber before turning to meet the Vong warriors. ~ Tahiri swept through them, the Vong. Her blade made short work of them, many of them she didn’t even notice. Inside her Riina Kwaad sang in her thoughts, approving of the bloodshed. Tahiri ignored her and focused on her bond with Anakin. He was being stupid again, the dummy he’d always been. An amphistaff glanced off her thigh, it cut through her clothing to her skin; but she ignored it. Her adrenaline high, she pulled the force into herself and went to help her best friend. I love you. The thought came to her. I love you- Tahiri cut herself off when she realized he made it sound like this was the end. She called to him again, but he didn’t respond. How he could not hear her, she didn't know. The bond between them was falling, she realized too late. It was being closed off. Anakin was shutting her away from him. Realization hit her and she had to concentrate to hold back anger. He thought he was going to die. ~ Anakin ran, straight into the Yuuzhan Vong flank. Warriors turned to meet him in surprise. Too late they realized he was not the only Jedi in the area. The members of the strike team that were still able to walk were now attacking full force. Behind him, the membrane was blown open by a huge explosion. The warriors that had been behind the door piled out, ready to fight. “Anakin!” Jaina screamed her voice carried to him above the fight as he twirled and slashed. His saber cut through them like they were nothing. Unfortunately, blows did make it through his defense. Go! He commanded her. She’s getting away! A razor bug buried itself in his shoulder; his jump suit was of very little use anymore. The force had already disintegrated much of the top half. The warriors fell on him, amphistaffs and thud bugs being used against him. Above the fight, on the pit wall, he could see his siblings. They peered over the edge, tears falling silently down their faces as they watched him. Go! He called to them. Out of the corner of his eye he saw the imposter, trying to slink away. Using the force he jumped, cart wheeling over the Vong, ignoring the glancing blows. A work bench was in sight, and he knew that it was where the Vong had created the voxyn. Anakin pulled the last thermal detonator from his harness. Go now he sent to his sister. “No! I can’t-“ she commed but was cut off as her voice choked. His thumb hit the timer, three clicks. Thirty seconds. He announced letting go of the timer. * Jacen, take her. Kiss Tah-* ------------------ i didn't really like how the mentions of the twins in this came out... but oh well.
