Author's Notes: Because this is Post-NJO, it is assumed AU. Certain things will not mesh up with the EU or canon. Further notices will be posted with the chapters for which they apply
Chapter 1
“Zekk!” Jaina Solo shrieked in a most undignified manner, tearing a thin towel from the rack in the ‘fresher to preserve her modesty. As she spun, wrapping the towel about herself, ropes of wet chocolate brown hair whipped around her shoulders before plastering themselves to her breasts. The moisture from her hair soaked through the material, making the cloth almost translucent.
By this time, her childhood friend had rushed out into the hall, his own dark hair loose and falling in his face. His pale cheeks tinged red, his knuckles approached white, and his mouth suddenly felt dry. Near panic, he hastily erected mental shields, dampening her perception of his physical desire.
Zekk swallowed, desperately trying to force moisture back into his throat before he dared say a word. Why, oh why had he told Jaina she could take a water-shower?
Oh. Right.
They would be making landfall in less than twelve standard hours, and the planet he planned to arrive at had plenty of water with which to restock. Perhaps the better question would be why he had to be so stupid as to forget to knock before walking into the ‘fresher?
“Zekk?” Jaina called again. This time, her voice was inquisitive.
“Yeah?” Zekk rasped, then winced as he noticed how rough his voice sounded. He swallowed again, then said in a slightly steadier voice, “I’m here.”
He listened carefully, eyes shut tight, for her reply. As he heard the padding of soft, slippered feet against the floor of the Lightning Bolt, he noticed that a few whips of hair had managed to cast themselves against his lips. He worried the strands between his lips as he felt rather than heard Jaina stop in front of him, the damp heat from her body radiating at him through even the thick flight suit he wore. If he opened his eyes, he knew he’d see her thick hair first, then the rich brown of her eyes and creamy skin of her shoulders, and below that...
He tore his thoughts away from visualizing his best friend’s body when he heard her voice telling him, “‘fresher’s open.”
“Thanks,” he gasped, hearing her footsteps recede. After hearing the whoosh-hiss of an opening and closing door, he opened his eyes and slipped into the ‘fresher, palming the door closed behind him.
Feeling his knees give way, Zekk sank to the floor, his back against the wall. He tossed his head, shaking his hair out of his face and knocking the back of his skull against the wall of the small room. Why did this have to happen now?
No, no, he thought to himself. Don’t ask that question. Concentrate on something else; think about something other than the bare... Hutts! Think about Hutts!
The beings were always naked, but not nearly as arousing as Jaina; this was partly due to their natural smell, which humans find quite offensive. Princess Leia, Jaina’s mother, was in the service of Jabba the Hutt once. Zekk had heard the stories; she’d gone to rescue the twins’ father and ended up getting captured herself, whereupon Master Luke had been required to rescue them both. It was also said that Leia had been wearing something quite... revealing... at the time.
That thought didn’t arouse Zekk quite as much as one would expect. Sure, he found Jaina’s mother attractive; his eyes and his brain were both in excellent working order. Still, he knew that the former Chief of State had never approved of him and frankly, what Zekk had seen of her attitude didn’t impress him much on a personal level. However, Jaina in an outfit similar to the one her mother wore...
Zekk bit back a moan. Think of... ewoks, he told himself. Ewoks are fuzzy and tough and amusing, but not at all arousing...
It was going to be a long half-day.

Nine hours later...
“I’m bored,” Jaina sighed, lounging in the Lightning Bolt’s co-pilot’s chair.
“I told you not to come up here,” Zekk murmured, double-checking a reading before nodding in satisfaction and laying back himself. He stared at the ceiling of the cockpit for a moment, wondering if he should do some repairs at their next stop, before sighing and adding, “I’m still not telling you where we’re going.”
“Aw...” Jaina groaned..
“No.”
“Come on...”
“Not going to happen.”
“Please?”
“I told you already, Goddess, you’ll see when we get there. Just trust me,” Zekk sighed, tugging impatiently at his ponytail.
“Wanna play a game while we wait?” Jaina asked.
“Thought you’d want to meditate or something,” Zekk replied.
“Already did, gonna do it again later, too. Just not this second. Now, you want to play a game?” Jaina persisted.
“Like what?” Zekk asked, feeling himself cave.
“Sabacc,” Jaina suggested.
Zekk’s eyes flickered to the small woman, amused. Had she forgotten that they were living on tight funds?
“Jay, you’re broke. I’m broke. The only thing I have to my name is this lady right here, and you sure aren’t getting the slips,” he sighed, amused. He turned his eyes back to the ceiling, until her next words nearly gave him a heart attack.
“Strip sabacc.”
“Strip sabacc?” He repeated, then turned his gaze back to her, leering. Playfully, he told himself. Don’t let her know it’s not a joke!
Sure, he was attracted to her. He could certainly admit that to himself. But he loved her even more, and to lose her love, however she means it, over something as fleeting as physical attraction? Zekk wasn’t going to risk it. Not with the woman who’d been the girl that pulled him back from the worst place he’d been since his fiery flight from Ennth.
“No,” he decided. His control was strong, but not that strong. “How about holochess instead?”
“You always win,” Jaina grumbled.
“So? Let’s make a wager, then. You beat me this once, and we’ll play a game of strip sabacc,” Zekk proposed, knowing he could out-maneuver Jaina on the chess board.
“Fine.”
It was the first time in a long while that Zekk had been disappointed to win a game of holochess.

No... it's for a break, mostly. At least at first.
Coming up: More characters, more species, more sexuality, and mentions of a naked Zekk. Why? Because the idea appeals to me.

 This is too funny. I'm loving it. Just like a man to forget that he told a beautiful girl she could take a shower than walk into the bathroom. Sure that wasn't planned, whatever they want to believe I can't wait to see strip sabbac, that ought to be funny. But Jaina winning holochess, thats almost not believeable

Rose, it actually was unintentional, at least partly. Zekk's hair had fallen out of its tail. The mirror was in the 'fresher. Could he have tied his hair back without looking in the mirror? Yes... but that wouldn't have been as funny, and I'd still be stuck at "How should I start this?"

Oh, this is great! I love how you've portrayed Jaina and Zekk's friendship; very comfortable, playful, and caring. I like the thought of them being like that after the New Jedi Order... and much more of course.
Can't wait to see what happens next!

Hehe, that works for me. Trust me i understand, you read my story, you know i write stuff that could easily be done another way. But that does nothing for my plotline and is no fun to write. So i'm totally with that.
Can't wait to see where he's taking her. Eagerly awaiting your next post

Don't worry about it, Rose. Come to think of it, strip sabacc might make a funny fluff story. It just doesn't fit in with where I see my story going right now... my story is fluff in a different direction.

And yeah, I guess my Zekk is written differently. I would think post-Vong Zekk is tired of brooding. He was Dark and nearly killed his best friend. He was Light and she nearly died anyway. It's a Catch-22.
