AN: Well, I've learned that my optimum writing time is midnight to one in complete silence. Which is about the crappiest time available, since I'm now in the throes of homework overload. Anyway, this baby ain't exactly
Griselda
, but I like it all the same, especially since I thought
Dark Journey
was amazingly inconsistent. Why would Jaina decide to give up the throne?
You're going to see Kyp, and Jag, and Tenel Ka, and, umm...Jaina, Ta'a Chume...Haven't quite figured out what to do with Jacen and the others yet - but I do have a plot! I just have to read
Traitor
first!
*****************************
Once upon a time, there lived a princess, virtuous above all others. She was thought to be beautiful by all who knew her, for they saw the strength blazing from her eyes, and the justice she meted out by her hand, and they loved her for her fair and scrupulous manner toward all people, regardless of rank or class.
She was the sole heir to a large and prosperous realm; her grandmother and mother had ruled well, making the land strong and prosperous in the face of unyielding opposition. But the princess wanted no part of her grandmother’s land, for she was hated and feared for her lineage and her magic. The Queen was one of the barbarian warrior-witches, and her daughter had taken after her in terms of power and behavior. The girl wanted nothing to do with the poisonous atmosphere of court, or the machination of her calculating grandmother.
The princess was in love with another prince. His lands had been destroyed when his mother was but a girl, but he was still a prince by blood. Even though he could not offer her lands or riches, or anything of power, she loved him for his kindness and vitality.
One day, dragons began pillaging the countryside. It was learned that they had been awakened by the foul magician-priests of an invading horde. The prince’s brother would lead a group of knights to do battle with the magicians and destroy their stronghold and spells, lest they awaken more.
The prince and the princess joined the quest, as did the sister of the prince, a girl known for her bravery and skill in battle. The quest was hard and dangerous, but they succeeded – at a price. The prince and knight-leader were among those fallen in battle.
Mourning, the knights returned to the virtuous princess’s kingdom. There, the princess found her mother dying of grief over her unborn child. And as the virtuous princess watched her mother’s descent into death, she also watched her grandmother’s manipulations take form. And even though the princess did not wish to rule, she wished even less for her grandmother to rule.
But when her mother died, her father married the brave princess, who had grown vengeful, and in her inexorable march to vengeance, cunning as well. The grandmother claimed her as her protégé, and the virtuous princess remained a princess, not a queen. The brave princess became the vengeful queen, and as knights of all caliber began answering to her call, the princess began planning her escape from her tower.
Unfortunately, it takes awhile for hair to grow.

Heh. I'd be flattered to claim any credit for your 'fic if I could...
... but that said, maybe I'd better just keep quiet so that the K/J and J/TK people don't hurt me...

That was a very promising beginning. I love how you wrote it in fairy tale style! Excellently done!
One day, dragons began pillaging the countryside. It was learned that they had been awakened by the foul magician-priests of an invading horde.
That was one of my favorite passages. I liked the imagery. I'm looking forward to seeing how this story plays out. More soon!

I can't write K/J, won't write happy J/J, and think J/Z is like me marrying the first guy I think is cute. Won't write J/TK for the same reason I won't write J/Z. Besides, Jacen is a morally ambiguous jerk. Tenel Ka is the complete opposite.
Just give it a chance! *pouts* Please...

*grabs Tenel Ka and Kyp around the necks and pulls them to her* But they look so cute together! You don't thinks so? Oh, well...
*Grins evilly*
Bwahahaha! You shall see my plans for them, my child. Although it's going to be a bit hard, as Tenel Ka's under house arrest...

I just say, 'variety is the spice of life!'
But I would think that your theory of Ben being Anakin and Mara's secret love child would be much more... incendiary than little ole me's support of K/TK...

Luke/Leia? Ewww... But yes! You see what I mean! Now try and convince the others...

Whoops, sorry
LoneWolf89
, I kinda missed you there...
That was a very promising beginning. I love how you wrote it in fairy tale style! Excellently done!
*Grin* I was trying to set up the prologue, and figured that going over
Dark Journey
was fruitless, because I haven't read it since last June. The Epilogue and the Interludes will be written fairy-tale style, and the rest in whatever manner fits.
That was one of my favorite passages. I liked the imagery. I'm looking forward to seeing how this story plays out. More soon!
How do you define soon...

Wow, I said it before, but I really enjoy your writting style, Elena, and this was an excellent start. You've quickly become one of the most original writers on these boards
Interesting pairing and I look forward to the next post.
Unfortunately, it takes awhile for hair to grow.

Huh!
Aye, but the difference is, K/TK is just two people, who could quite concievably be in love, with nothing in their way except the Solo twins and their 'shippers...
A/M=BS, people can scream "No! That's impossible!" and come up with a whole lot of legal, moral and textual reasons why it 'couldn't' happen...
They can't do that with this one!
Luke/Leia? Ewww... But yes! You see what I mean! Now try and convince the others...
I have my work cut out already!
But I'll do what I can...

Another plot bunny?
A few more, and you might just catch up to a certain Ewok we know.
Seriously, what an interesting and imaginative beginning! I wholeheartedly echo
YK
's sentiments. Bravo!
Unfortunately, it takes awhile for hair to grow.
I loved that line, too.
K/TK? Hey, I'll climb aboard that ship. Should be an interesting ride!
Looking forward to more!

There's a lot of "J"'s and "L"'s - which J/L are you talking about?
I vaguely remember something on one of the threads that I've been lurking on . . . Oh, wait

I remember now. Dude, that's just . . . just . . .

And she's under house arrest? In a tower? Red hair? Is she guarded by a female dragon?

Hey, Jag/Leia isn't that bad!
All kidding aside, though... Jaya/Lowie falls within "acceptable parameters" as far as Rogues and bush-pilots go - previously, we've had Corran/Chertyl, Gavin/Asyr, Lak/Dice, Nrin/Koyi...
Well, okay, most of them were Stackpole, but still... you get the idea - the person, not the texture of their skin... we've also had situations where reasonably morally uptight characters have encountered or considered human/Shistaven, human/H'drachi and human/Chiss pairings without blinking at the concept...
Okay, that's enough liberalism...

Aye... we have? Since when was there a human/Shistavenan pairing in the Stackpole books?
Wait. There's only one Shistavenan in the Stackpole books. Ah.
