This story may look familiar to some. This will be a revised version of the story I started posting called "My Master's Touch" I decided to rework it and post it as a different story.
Author’s Note #1: This story revolves around Luke Skywalker and an my original character Lyra Kendrick. POV switches between OC and Luke. As I have stated before all of my stories should be considered AU unless otherwise noted. This story has nothing to do with my other story featuring Luke and Lyra.
Author’s Note #2: Later in this story I mention a word from a language from Luke’s home world of Tatooine. I want to state here and now that as far as I know, this language is not rooted in any actual language associated with SW or the real world. Any similarities to actual words are purely coincidental. I simply tried to come up with a word that could convey a lot of meaning, yet sound exotic as if it were from an alien language.
Author’s Note #3: For those of you who have read my previous stories, you will have noticed they have all been romances. Those are the kinds of stories I like to write and so all of my stories may be considered romances unless otherwise noted.

Part One:
The two clawed Katerines came out of nowhere as we raced to the spaceport to make our escape. I sensed the attack at the same moment as my Jedi Master and we whirled to face our attackers our lightsabers ablaze. The snarling beasts looked like a monster a child would describe from a horrible nightmare. Dripping fangs, two-inch claws and a face only a mother could love. Though not very smart, the Katerines were prized by the lowest of the galaxy as excellent hit men. For what they lacked in intelligence, they more than made up for in brute strength and if scratched by a Katerine you would be injected with a nerve-paralyzing agent.
We soon dispatched our two attackers and once more headed for the spaceport. We had just rounded the last corner when my danger sense flared and I whirled to face another would be attacker. I was a second too late and I received four claw scratches down my back. I whirled and cut the third Katerine in half while I turned the Force inward to slow the nerve toxin.
By the time we reached the spaceport, I could already feel the numbness in my back. I pushed on only a few steps behind my Master. Finally able to loose ourselves in the crowd, we used the Force to disguise ourselves and made our way to the berth where we had docked our ship. We had now slowed our pace to a walk and I began to lag behind, the nerve toxin beginning to override my efforts with the Force. I felt my Master reach out to me and help me maintain my disguise as we made our way up the landing ramp of the ship.
Master Skywalker raced to the cockpit and began the startup sequence while I made my way there more slowly. R2D2 twiddled at me in concern and inquiry as I passed him, the little droid picking up on my sluggish behavior. I managed to seat myself in the copilot’s chair and strap myself in before I collapsed back into the seat. I closed my eyes and reached out to the Force, going into a semi trance to try and cleanse my body of some of the toxin. A little while later, how long I’m not sure, I felt my Master reach out to me in the Force, deep concern in his sense
My name is Lyra Kendrick and I am Jedi Master Luke Skywalker’s apprentice. Master Skywalker and I met five years after the Battle of Endor. We were both at a diplomatic function, he as a guest, and I as a security officer. The function was for the Ambassadors from the planet of Enapay who had just joined the New Republic. Security was tight at every function then, for bounties still existed for those in the high ranks of the government and the military.
At the function that night, I was one of two guards posted at the entrance to the chamber where the gala was being held. The first part of the night passed without incident, but just after the formal signing of the treaty, all hell broke loose.
I had begun to feel edgy about a half hour before, but could not pinpoint the source of my unease. It was at the moment Princess Leia shook the Ambassador’s hand that I spotted the assassin probe hovering over the stage.
“Look out!” I yelled and pulled my blaster to fire at the probe. The probe got off a shot before I could fire at it, but to my relief, Master Skywalker deflected the shot with his lightsaber at the same moment my blaster bolt turned the probe to slag.
To my surprise, Master Skywalker contacted me the next day and asked to meet with me. When we met, he told me he had studied my two-year service record and began to ask me questions about certain things that had occurred during that time, including what had happened the night before.
I was quite puzzled over why he was taking such an interest in my career. I didn’t stay puzzled for long, however, because he soon explained to me. He told me he thought I had Force talent and asked if I would agree to a test of his theory. I agreed and he began to guide me through a series of simple mental exercises. That day, something held in check broke through. As he guided me, it was as if I had been living in a dark room all my life and someone suddenly turned on a light.
Master Skywalker told me he had been thinking about seeking out other Force talents to train and asked me if I would become his first student. After thinking about his request for only a few hours, I agreed and I became his apprentice. As his apprentice, I traveled with him wherever he went, learning the ways of the Force.
In the three years that we had been Master and Apprentice, we had become very close. We were best friends and seemed to know each other better than anyone in the galaxy knew us. We worked well together as a team and sometimes it seemed like we could read each other’s minds.
Master Skywalker’s mental touch of concern brought me back to full consciousness and I opened my eyes to look at him. There was question in his blue eyes and I realized he was puzzled over my weakness and unaware of my injury. Somehow, he had been aware of my weakness but not of my injury. I had not realized I was keeping myself that closed off on this mission.
“Are you all right?” He asked.
“That last Katerine managed to rake my back with his claws.” I told him.
He muttered a curse under his breath and helped me to my feet and then to my bunk.
“Lay down.” He told me and rushed back out the door. Much to my relief, he shortly returned with an antitoxin. I hadn’t known if we had one on board. I was very glad that we did. He pressed the injector to my neck and I sighed as I felt the immediate effects of its contents.
“How did the Katerine manage to get you with his claws?” he asked.
“He came around that last corner before we reached the space port and I was a second too slow in reacting to my danger sense. He had me almost at the same time as I had him.” I answered as I drifted off to sleep.

I think it's a great start. 
Sounds like Luke and Lyra are pretty close. Closer than just Master and Apprentice maybe? Hmmm? 
I'll be waiting patiently for more.

Sorry it took me a day to get here! Fridays are crazy for me! Anyway, I'm loving this so far! This is the same Lyra from the other story, right? Because I absolutely love her. She's my fav. OC of yours.
EDIT: I spelled Fridays with an apostrophe, and it was bothering me.

YAY!! (Jumps up and down, not an easy thing to do at this age) I am so happy to see so many responses to my first little postie. However, looking at some of the responses, I feel like a little bit of an explanation is needed.
First of all, any of my stories should be considered stand alones unless otherwise noted in the story summary. If a story is connected to any of my other stories, I will let you know before you even get into the new story.
Most of my stories come from little niggling ideas or dreams that I have and I write about them so they will leave me alone. if something strikes me, it will hang around and nag at me until I make a story out of it. Most never really become anything, but sometimes I hit on something that I feel worthy of passing on.
My stories may contain the same original character names, but those characters may be slightly different than they were in a previous story. However I use my characters,I try to keep them interesting and if ever I get off track, I would like for someone out there to let me know, either in a posted response to the story or in a private PM to me. Hopefully, the more constructive critizism I receive, the better my writing will become.
This story is probably not going to be that long, but I never know what's going to happen when I get into fleshing out an idea, so you never know, it may turn out to be longer than I think.
I am working on part two and I hope to be able to post it tomorrow. Now on to individual responses.
