	Hello! I'm a poor college student making absolutely no money off of this. (please don't sue me!!) For the prequel to this short story, click here. Feedback is loved! ********* Prologue Just three short months after his return, the retired General Jedi and the reigning Queen Mother of Hapes married, secretly. The Hapan Council tried to displace Tenel Ka, quite unsucessfully. The Hapan people had never known a more competent, active queen. And now, to her people's delight, the Queen Mother was going to be: A Queen Mother. "One more push Tenel Ka, one more push!!" Cilghal coached, her webbed hands ready to catch the baby. Tenel Ka lay on a bed in the newly erected jedi academy, Jacen situated behind her, cradling her with his body. Jacen layed his hands on either side of her belly, soothing the baby through the Force and bleeding away some of Tenel Ka's pain. I'm going to have sympathy contractions for a week! Jacen thought. Tenel Ka rested her head back on his shoulder, her panting audible in his ear. He kissed her on the temple and lent his strength to her. "Alright Tenel Ka, you can do this, one more push Honey! On three, ready? One, Two, Three!" On three Tenel Ka took a deep breath and threw all of the strength she had left into the final push. She squeezed her eyes shut and let out what sounded like a war cry, and then slumped back against Jacen. She'd done it. Pitiful, wailing crys came from the end of the bed. Tenel Ka smiled weakly, she was a mother! She could feel her baby through the force, with it's own tiny force presence flailing out towards her, looking for the warmth of it's mother. Unrestrained tears of total joy and relief rolled off of her chin. Cilghal quickly cleaned and wrapped the baby in a blanket, swaddling it tightly. Tenel Ka grinned through her tears and held out her arms. Cilghal let her mouth hang open in the way of a Mon Calamiri smile. "Congratulations Tenel Ka, Jacen." Tenel Ka held the baby in her arms and felt Jacen embrace them both. "Thank You." Jacen looked down at the baby in his wife's lap. His son. An overpowering sense of completion filled him as he held his family in his arms. This little life was what he had been waiting for, living for. Brown eyes met green ones as father and son met each other for the first time. Jacen touched his mind to his sons, immediatley connecting to the tiny, raw force power he'd known for 9 months. The baby recognized him and quieted, his waving fists going still. The reassuring presence that had been with him for as long as he could remember was here now, in the bright, cold new place. Heavy eyelids fell shut and he fell into the deep slumber of a newborn. Jacen rested his cheek next to Tenel Ka's, "Thank You." Tenel Ka smoothed back her son's tufts of hair and smiled. Despite her stoic character, she seemed to be smiling a lot lately. Cilghal set the New Republic birth certificate on the table for Jacen and Tenel Ka to sign. "Have you decided on what to name him yet?" Tenel Ka opened her mouth to say no, but Jacen spoke first. He knew what to name their son. "Rowan. His name is Rowan." Tenel Ka watched their son sleep, his pink lips parted and pouched as he breathed. "Rowan." -----signature----- I'm a naughty little Kitty... Meow! 	Here's more of this ficlet, hope you enjoy!! All feedback (except for the reallly mean kind) is appreciated!! Jacen nodded to the guards posted outside of the royal chambers and entered the Queen’s Royal quarters. He swept his formal robes from his shoulders and tossed it on the chair before moving into the new nursery they had added onto the chambers. A warm open space with high wide windows greeted him. Rowan’s crib, carved out of Wroshyyr wood, a gift from Lowbacca, was nestled under one of the windows, a soft sheer canopy giving shade over it. Tenel Ka sat in the window seat across the room, feeding Rowan and staring out across the city below her. Jacen smiled and kissed Tenel Ka on the cheek as he neared. “How was your day?” Tenel Ka turned her eyes away from the sunset, the rich amber and red colors of the sky lending warmth to her grey eyes. “It was long, although productive. I managed to convince the delegation from Tellock IV that it would be in their best interest to retreat from the demilitarized zone around Vinen. How was your day husband?” Jacen smiled and let the love felt in that simple term of endearment warm his heart. “It was good. That little girl we found here on Hapes is definately force sensitive, Tionne will be arriving in a few days to take her to the academy. And, I also have some interesting news.” Tenel Ka stared at him patiently, waiting for his answer. “I’ve chosen Valin Horn as my apprentice.” Tenel Ka continued to gaze at him expectantly. “Well?” Tenel Ka smiled slightly, “Congratulations. I was under the impression that Corran Horn would continue his education?” “So was I, but Corran sent me a holo today, asking me to consider. They want to wait until Valin is finished with his formal academic education. He wants Valin to have a broader sense of the galaxy and figured I’d be the best for the job.” “Your ties to the Queen Mother of Hapes are not likely to hurt either.” Jacen laughed and reached out his hands for Rowan, who had fallen asleep, full and content, in his mother’s lap. He placed him gently in the crib and pulled the thin blanket over him. “Come on, let’s go see what the Royal Kitchen’s got prepared tonight.” Tenel Ka followed Jacen into the front room of their suite. “Jacen, have you forgotten about the Dael Ball?” Jacen scrunched up his face and winced, he had forgotten. “Oh, Tenel Ka, I’m sorry! I completely forgot, what time do we have to leave?” Tenel Ka raised an eyebrow, apparently he had not been paying any attention at all to that conversation. “Jacen, it is a women's dignitary ball. The traditional Dael Ball that has occurred every year as far back as there was a Queen Mother of Hapes. You will not be attending. I must leave at 1900.” Jacen groaned as he sat on the couch. “That’s only an hour from now! Do you have time to eat dinner with me and celebrate the new addition to our family?” At Tenel Ka’s blank look Jacen added, “Valin, my new apprentice, I was going to take you out to dinner to celebrate, but we can eat here if you have time.” Tenel Ka shook her head. “I am sorry Jacen, I must leave immediately to get ready, Colie is waiting for me in the dress room.” The dress room actually happened to be a room full of priceless dresses of Tenel Ka’s, and of Queen Mother’s past. “I will send you food from the Ball if you wish?” Jacen sighed. They’d just have to celebrate later. “I wish it.” Jacen moved from the couch and intercepted Tenel Ka as she moved towards the door. He held her around the waist and kissed her firmly, letting his love flow over her. “I love you.” “I love you too, Jacen. I must leave now, may I pass?” Jacen stood in front of the door, blocking her exit. He was tempted to say no, but stole another quick kiss instead. “Have fun at your Ball, and don’t forget to send me food!” Tenel Ka chuckled lightly and left, heading towards her dressing room. ********** Jacen lay in bed, slumbering deeply. The remnants of of his dinner settled gently in his stomach. His breathing was even, flowing gently in, and gently out. “WAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!” gasp “WAAAHHHHHHHHH!!” Jacen sat up straight in bed. “WAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!” Rubbing his eyes he swung his feet out of bed onto the floor and stumbled towards the kitchen. “WAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!” gasp “WAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!” Rowan’s cries got louder and more pitiful as he squeaked and tried to gather more air into his tiny lungs. Jacen let calm feelings eminate through the force and Rowan quieted. Jacen grabbed a bottle from the kitchen and headed towards the nursery. Rowan’s soft whimpers lilted through the air. Walking into the nursery Jacen grimaced at the oppressive blanket of heat that filled the room. He set the bottle down on the night stand and stood over the crib. “No wonder you’re so upset, it’s an oven in here!” Jacen himself was wearing only a pair of sleep pants. He pulled Rowan’s shirt over his squirming shoulders. “There, that better?” “WAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!” Jacen snorted. “Oh, right, you’re hungry too. You’re always hungry! If you didn’t look so much like your mother, I’d think you were a baby wookie.” Jacen lifted his son from the crib, the one month old kicking and screaming, wearing just a diaper. “And I see you’ve inherited your Aunt Jaina’s temper. Here you go, just like Mom makes it!” Jacen sat at the window seat and cradled Rowan upright, popping the bottle of milk into his mouth. Rowan immediately fell silent and suckled the bottle greedily. Jacen smiled and adjusted Rowan so that he was propped up against Jacen’s upraised knees. Father and Son stared at each other a few moments. “Although, I’m not quite sure where you got these green eyes from, because your mother has grey eyes and I have brown. Although your great Aunt Mara has green eyes. Just don’t ever call her your ‘Great Aunt’, makes her feel old. I learned that the hard way.” Rowan waved his hands in the air, he still hadn’t made the connection that those two floating things were connected to him. His green eyes traced over the shadowed jaw and the long straight nose on his father’s face. Brown eyes were staring back at him and he felt warmth and goodness flood through him. Jacen raised an eyebrow at his son as he monitored his thoughts through the force, sensing the cognizance in the quickly developing mind. “You’re going to be a smart little one aren’t you? I hate to think what’ll happen when you and Jaina’s twins learn how to hold up your heads. I’m sure it’ll be pure mayhem from there on out.” Rowan answered by spitting out the bottle and letting out a huge yawn, revealing teethless gums. Jacen gently settled Rowan against his shoulder, wondering at the tiny heartbeat he felt beating against his own bare chest. Patting him lightly on the back, Jacen tried to work the gas bubbles out of Rowan’s stomach. “Sure, you look innocent now, but I know all the tricks. I was your age once. Just be glad you don’t have an older twin sister to boss you around and get you in trouble!” Rowan let out a long burp. “That a boy! You sound like a Solo already! Grandpa Han would be proud! I’m positive he’ll make sure to teach you all about being a Solo.” Jacen could feel Rowan beginning to relax against his shoulder, Rowan’s bright red, downy hair tickling Jacen’s ear. “We just wont tell your mother. You’ll be shooting blasters, flying the Falcon. That is if the old hunk of scrap metal still works. Don’t tell your grandfather I said that either.” Rowan was completely limp on his father’s shoulder, making little whistling noises in his sleep. Jacen could feel Rowan’s peaceful rest seep into him, making him sleepy as well. He smoothed back Rowan’s tuft of copper hair and kissed him on the top of his head. There had been a time when Jacen thought that he could never feel as much love for anyone as he felt for Tenel Ka. The birth of his firstborn son had proved him very wrong. Jacen felt like he could explode in the force with all of the intense pride, joy, and fierce love Rowan had brought him. What a precious gift he had been given! Tenel Ka keyed open the door to the royal chambers and rolled up the lights. Jacen could see her through the open nursery door. Waves of flame red curls caressed her back. She wore a simple pair of shorts and a tank top, obviously having undressed from her formal gown. She sensed her husband and sleeping son in the nursery and plodded towards them barefoot.
