The Millennium Falcon raced through hyperspace en route to the Naboo system. However, one of the passengers was more than a little testy. “Naboo is the home system of Palpatine! Han, what in the Force made you think that’s where I’d want to take a vacation?!” Luke said. Han sighed.
“Luke, I had no idea. I had heard that it’s a nice, peaceful planet. The kind of place that we want to go to. Just relax, will ‘ya? I know what I’m doing,” Han replied, trying not to sound too exasperated. Luke had been trying to make the same arguments since Han picked him up on Yavin 4. Thankfully, Chewie interrupted the conversation. Han listened to Chewie and then said to Luke, “We’re almost there. We’re gonna drop out of lightspeed on the outskirts of the system if that’s alright with you.”
Luke nodded. Han deactivated the hyperdrive and brought them back to realspace. Just then, Luke felt a disturbance in the Force. “Han! Be careful!” he said. Unfortunately, he was too late. A strange spatial distortion opened in front of the Millennium Falcon, drawing it in. The battered freighter tore through time and space, arriving in a galaxy far, far away.
As the Falcon came to a stop, Han checked the navigation computer. “Luke, you’re not gonna believe this,” Han said. Luke looked over at him and shrugged. “Luke, the navi-computer doesn’t recognize a single system. It’s like we’re in a different galaxy or something.”
This prompted Luke to stretch out to the Force. “Han, under the circumstances, I’d said that’s a pretty good guess. I can’t sense anyone familiar. In fact, my whole Force-sense feels strange,” Luke said. While Luke tried to make sense of it, Chewie was clearing up the sensors. He suddenly growled in surprise.
“What?! You’ve gotta be kidding!” Han exclaimed. He looked out the cockpit viewport and saw a large battle group dropping to realspace. “Looks like we’ve got company Luke,” he said.
Luke studied the ships for a moment. “Han, none of those ships looks like either Republic or Imperial ships.” In fact, none of the ships even resembled anything they were familiar with. A large ship at the front of the fleet moved closer to the Falcon. The ship’s main hull was a large oblong saucer connected by a tapered neck to a flattened second hull with two flattened engines.
The comlink beeped. Apparently, the frequency the Falcon’s comlink operated on wasn’t too hard to pin down. Han opened the channel. “Unidentified starship, this is Admiral Hayes of the Federation starship Republic,” said the voice. Luke raised an eyebrow. “You have entered a battle zone. Unless you leave now, you will be caught in it.”
Han swatted at the comlink. “Well Admiral,” he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm, “this is Captain Han Solo of the Republic freighter Millennium Falcon. I might be willing to help out if you would ask.” While he said this, he checked the sensors and found that they were about five light years from the anomaly that brought them there. He switched the comlink pickup off and turned to Luke. “Well kid, what do you make of it?”
“I don’t think he’s kidding about this battle. From what I could sense, he fears for his life. Whoever they’re about to fight, they aren’t expecting to win,” Luke replied sadly. He could sense the same thing among most of the people in that fleet. The comlink beeped again.
“Captain Solo, we would appreciate any assistance you can render. If you would, join formation next to the starship Thunderchild at these coordinates,” Admiral Hayes said. Moments later, they got a set of coordinates. Han piloted the Falcon next to the large vessel called Thunderchild.
“Well, looks like we wait. Chewie, go ahead and bring the deflector shields online. I’ll charge up the quad guns,” Han said. Although he was putting up a brave front, Luke could sense his apprehension. He reached out with the Force to try to calm Solo. All he got in return was a quick scowl. “Luke, you know I don’t like it when you do that!” Han said.
“Sorry Han,” Luke meekly said. He stretched out again, feeling out the commanders in the fleet. Most of them were scared to death. A few of them were even excited. He couldn’t imagine why, but one of the commanders was even looking forward to the battle. “Han, I’m starting to think we’ve made a big mistake.”
“You won’t get any argument from me. But, we’re about five light years from that tunnel thing. So, we might as well lend a hand,” Han replied with a shrug. He looked at the ship hanging off the port bow. The ship had a catamaran-style double hull attached to a saucer-shaped main hull. The Thunderchild was sleeker than the Republic and looked more dangerous, despite it being smaller. Han was admiring its construction when a much smaller vessel crossed his view. Unlike most of the ships he could see, it was a simple, single hulled design. Without being told, he could see it was a warship.
“Han, I’m getting a funny feeling. Something’s coming,” Luke warned suddenly. All of a sudden, a large ship appeared on their sensors as it dropped into realspace. The ship was cube-shaped and at least as big as a Star Destroyer. The rough, machined cubeship was a sharp contrast to the sleek, almost organic Federation ships. Luke sensed strange presences on it. Instead of many individuals, he could sense what seemed to be a collective consciousness. However, he could sense the individual minds if he tried hard enough. He could sense that the individual minds were highly suppressed and were tortured.
All of a sudden, the com system activated as the Federation fleet advanced on the cube. “We are the Borg. Lower your shields and surrender your ships. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Your culture will adapt to service us. Resistance is futile,” said a blended mechanical voice.
“Well, aren’t they friendly? I don’t think they’re kidding. Luke, you and Chewie get to the gun wells. I’ll pilot us through this,” Han replied. Luke nodded and headed aft, followed by Chewbacca. The fleet started breaking formation and flying towards the cubeship. The Falcon also flew towards the cube, quad cannons blazing. Weapons fire lanced out from the Federation ships. The cube fired at one of the smaller, single hulled vessels. Its shields flickered momentarily, and then died. The small vessel erupted in flames.
Luke gasped in horror. He had been stretching out to the Force and felt the entire crew die. “Han, keep evading fire. I don’t think we can withstand that magnitude of firepower,” Luke said weakly. Han slipped past the debris and gave Chewie an easy shot. The Falcon’s quad cannons tore into the cube’s surface. However, the damage quickly regenerated. One ship flew past the Falcon. It was smaller than most of the other vessels in the fleet and was compact. Its engines were integrated into the hull. Its hull registry identified it as the starship Defiant. Its weapons ports blazed, sending fiery blasts into the cube’s surface. Han dipped the Falcon below it.
Luke fired his turret at the same spot the Defiant was firing at. The cube’s surface was blazing with weapons fire. Luke suddenly felt two more ships die. The starship Republic flew in with its weapons firing. The cube locked a tractor beam on the Republic and held it in weapons range. Other ships were being torn apart. The cube changed course and Han stayed with it. A planet was visible from the turret’s window. Luke could tell that the blue-green marble was the Borg ship’s target. More weapons fire hit the cube. Han flew the Falcon by the cube, giving both Luke and Chewie a good shot.
The Falcon’s quad turrets blazed, sending quad-laser blasts flying to the cube’s increasingly scarred hull. Without warning, the cube fired a large blast into the Republic’s flattened engineering hull. A bright explosion accompanied the starship’s death. Many ships were already badly damaged, including the Defiant. The Falcon banked hard to avoid a large piece of the Republic.
“Han, I think we should get out of here,” Luke said. At the same time, he fired at the cube. As they came around the cube, he spotted the Defiant firing at the cube, and then get hit. Once hit, the ship became still. Han piloted the ship around more debris.
“Luke, I’d love to do that, but I think we’re in too deep now. What the? We’ve got another ship coming in!” Han exclaimed. A large starship dropped into realspace, firing torpedoes into the Borg ship’s surface. It flew past the drifting Defiant and drew fire. Han got a good look at this new ship. It had the same basic construction as most of the ships. It had a primary saucer shaped hull, an elongated secondary hull, and two elegant engine nacelles. However, unlike the Republic, this ship seemed to flow together like a work of art.
“Looks like we’ve got help Han,” Luke said when he saw the ship. Almost steadily now, Luke felt the deaths of crew members on exploding starships. Han skillfully piloted through the debris. He avoided a particularly large piece of debris while Luke fired his quad turret into the cube’s surface. Meanwhile, the new ship had taken up a position away from the cube. Unexpectedly, the Falcon’s com system crackled.
“This is Captain Picard of the Enterprise. I’m taking command of the fleet. Target all of your weapons onto the following coordinates. Fire at my command,” said the voice. Han acknowledged the coordinates and fed them into the targeting computer. Once more, the voice of Captain Picard filtered through the com. “Fire,” he commanded. Every ship in the fleet opened fire on one spot. Luke and Chewbacca fired their quad cannons into that spot and Han fired the Falcon’s concussion missiles. The weapons fire of all the ships in the fleet converged in a large scar in the cube’s hull. The new ship, the starship Enterprise Luke guessed, fired three blue torpedoes which delivered the final blow.
As the cube started to break apart, Han banked the Falcon away from it, as did the rest of the Federation fleet. Han breathed a sigh of relief as the cubeship exploded. He met Chewie halfway from the cockpit. “Nice shooting there Chewie. Hey kid, you didn’t do too bad either,” Han said. Then he noticed three figures standing behind Chewbacca. “Chewie, look out!” he exclaimed, pulling out his blaster. He fired at one of the figures, dropping it like a rock. He fired at one of the other ones, but the shots didn’t even hit the thing. Instead, they hit some kind of shield. “Stang!” he exclaimed.
Without warning, a green-white blade flashed into existence with a familiar snap-hiss. In the light of Luke’s lightsaber, Han got a good look at the intruders. They were encased in some kind of body armor and they had some kind of implants in their heads. One of them had a large claw for one arm. Despite this, Luke’s lightsaber cut through them both like a hot knife through butter. After the remains clattered to the deck, Luke shut off his lightsaber. “It’s no wonder these Federation people were so frightened,” Luke said.
“Some kind of adaptive shielding? These ‘Borg’ must be hard to kill,” Han commented. “Well, we can’t just leave them lying on the deck. Help me get them outta here Chewie!” Han and Chewie dragged them into the airlock, and then sealed it. Then, they opened it, and expelled the remains into space. They returned to the cockpit and saw the large starship coming towards them. As the saucer dipped down as the ship avoided a piece of debris, Luke’s guess was proven correct. The starship’s registry identified it as the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-E. The ship assumed a position directly in front of the Falcon. “Looks like we’re being hailed,” Han said. He opened the channel.
“Unidentified vessel. This is Captain Jean-Luc Picard of the starship Enterprise. Do you require assistance?” said Captain Picard over the comlink.
“This is Captain Han Solo of the New Republic freighter Millennium Falcon. We’re perfectly fine here, although we could use some kind of explanation as to exactly where we are,” Han replied.
“If you’d like, we can discuss this aboard our vessel Captain Solo.”
Han looked over at Luke. Luke, not sensing any deceit in Picard, nodded. “Captain Picard, we accept your gracious invitation,” Han said with surprising diplomacy. Leia was definitely rubbing off on him. Luke tapped Han’s shoulder.
“Han, how are we getting aboard? I don’t think they have a hanger big enough for the Falcon,” Luke reminded him.
“Captain Solo, if you and whoever is boarding will stand, we’ll bring you aboard,” said Picard. Luke raised an eyebrow. Han shrugged and left the cockpit with Luke in tow. Without warning, a blue light enveloped both of them and they were soon somewhere other than the Falcon. Han and Luke were severely disoriented. A distinguished bald man in a black uniform stepped forward. “Captain Solo. Welcome aboard the starship Enterprise. I’m Captain Picard,” he said.
“Captain Picard, this is my friend and Jedi Master Luke Skywalker,” Han said, motioning to Luke. “Now, would you mind telling us what the hell just happened?” he exclaimed.
“My apologies. Transporter technology must not be used where you come from. We use a type of matter transportation,” Picard explained. He motioned to the door. “If you’ll accompany me to the bridge, we can get started. This is a rather momentous occasion. It’s not often that Starfleet can make first contact,” he said, leading them to a turbolift.
“Starfleet? Is that the organization you belong to?” Luke asked.
“Yes. We are part of the United Federation of Planets,” Picard replied. The turbolift opened after a few moments and Picard, Luke, and Han stepped onto the bridge. “These are my senior officers. My first officer, Commander William Riker,” Picard said, motioning to a tall man with a beard. He nodded. “This is the ship’s counselor Deanna Troi.” Picard motioned to a woman with long, dark hair and hauntingly dark eyes. “Our chief engineer Geordi LaForge.” A dark skinned man looked up from his console for a moment to acknowledge the guests, then went back to work. “Doctor Beverly Crusher, the Enterprise’s chief medical officer.” The strawberry-blonde haired doctor smiled lightly at Han and Luke. “This is Lieutenant Commander Data, our operations and science officer.” Picard motioned to a rather strange individual. He was almost human, but he had circuitry where it appeared that some of his gold-toned skin was missing. “Commander Data is an android, the only one of his kind. Finally, this is Lieutenant Commander Worf, our acting tactical officer and chief of security,” Picard explained. Worf was a large man with dark skin, but his most outstanding feature was his very furrowed forehead.
“I am a Klingon,” Worf said by way of explanation. Luke and Han nodded at them all.
“Thank you for the warm welcome. We are representatives of the New Republic,” Luke said, taking control. “If we could, can we speak somewhere more private?”
“Of course, we can use our observation lounge. Will, Deanna, come along,” Picard replied. He led Luke and Han to a lounge directly behind the bridge. Luke made a cursory inspection of the room and notices a display case holding gold-plated starships. The case had been smashed and two of the ships broken. He made a quick look of each plaque under each and finds that all the ships were named Enterprise.
“Captain Picard, is there a way for us to compare starcharts and see if we can determine how far from home we are?” he said as he sat down.
“Of course Master Skywalker. After the meeting, we can have Data help with that. Quite frankly, I am astonished that you survived the battle with that battered piece of junk out there,” the good captain stated. Then he seemed to realize his mistake. “No offense intended Captain Solo.”
“None taken Captain Picard. I’m used to that reaction to the Falcon by now,” Han says with amusement. Luke had to suppress a chuckle as Han glanced at him.
“I suppose so. To tell the truth, you are lucky that we’re having this talk now. It won’t be long before the fleet is bogged down in salvage and cleanup operations. I’m sure you understand,” Picard said grimly.
“All too well Captain. Where we come from, we have only recently won a civil war against a severely totalitarian government. I happened to play a large part in bringing it down,” Luke said without pride.
“You don’t seem too proud of that Master Skywalker,” said Deanna. “You seem rather sad.”
“Please, call me Luke. I’ve lost many friends to the civil war. I’m glad that it’s over, but that won’t bring them back, and neither will pride in those accomplishments. Counselor Troi, you might be strong in the Force,” he replied, gauging her emotions.
“The Force?” asked Riker. Luke smiled as he recalled what Obi-Wan Kenobi had told him.
“The Force is an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us and penetrates us and binds the galaxy together. The Force is what gives a Jedi his power.”
Picard leaned forward, highly interested. “And what makes you think that Deanna might be able to sense this ‘Force’?”
“She was able to read my feelings. It’s usually a trait of someone who is Force-sensitive.”
“I’m half Betazoid. That gives me empathic abilities as well as some telepathic ability,” Troi explained.
“Look, this is all very interesting, but I’d love to know what’s going on around here,” Han interrupted.
“Captain Solo, you became involved in a fight against an adversary known as the Borg. The Borg are cybernetic life-forms who originate on the other side of our galaxy. Rather than having individual thought, the Borg depend on a collective consciousness. They assimilate other races into their collective, erasing all traces of individuality and coming one step closer to their definition of perfection. As you probably know, they are extremely difficult to stop. We’ve been quite lucky so far. In the last attempt, as well as this latest one, the Borg have sent only one ship against Earth. If they attempted to send a whole fleet, they would be unstoppable,” Picard stated.
Luke and Han digested this information in silence for a few moments. Then Commander Riker spoke up. “Luke, I would like to know a little more about your galaxy. This civil war for one thing.”
Luke glanced quickly at Han. “It’s not something we’re proud of. And it’s a long story.”
“Those are usually the best kind,” Riker replied with an easy grin.
“Very well. Many decades ago, our galaxy was ruled by the Old Republic. The Senate, despite being mired in corruption, managed to maintain peace. The Jedi Knights were the guardians of peace and justice. Then, an ambitious senator named Palpatine came into power. During his time, the Republic was trapped in a conflict known as the Clone Wars. After the end of the Clone Wars, Palpatine declared himself Emperor and with that came the end of the Old Republic. In its place was the dictatorial Galactic Empire,” Luke said. He paused for a moment.
“We’ve had similar occurrences in our own history, though not on such scale,” Picard said.
“It was after the Clone Wars and during his rise to Emperor that Palpatine decided to remove the Jedi Knights from power. A young Jedi named Anakin Skywalker, my father, turned to the Dark Side of the Force and helped Palpatine destroy the Jedi. The Empire ruled for many years. Then, Palpatine had a secret weapon built. It was called the Death Star. It had enough power to annihilate an entire planet. The Rebel Alliance sent a group of fighters against it. I was one of the pilots.
“After the destruction of the first Death Star…” “Hold on, first Death Star? There was more than one?” Riker interrupted.
Luke nodded. “I’ll get to that Commander. After the first was destroyed, the Alliance was on the run. It was during that time that I faced Darth Vader and learned that he was my father. Not long after, we learned of the second Death Star’s construction. Even more important, we learned that the Emperor himself was aboard it.”
“That’s quite a target. I can guess what happened. You probably had your fleet attack the Death Star while it was still being built,” Picard said.
“That’s right. However, I was captured by Vader and taken to the Emperor. The Emperor tried to turn me to the Dark Side like he did my father. Unfortunately for the fleet, the Death Star was fully operational. During the time the battle was raging, I faced my father one last time. I defeated him and almost killed him. If I had, I would’ve given in to the Emperor’s wishes. But, I resisted. I almost lost my life for it. But, my father turned back to the light. He rose up and destroyed Palpatine.”
“I assume that your father didn’t survive the attempt,” Troi said. Luke merely nodded.
“Incredible. Your father gave his life for you and saved the galaxy,” Riker commented.
Han yawned. “Thanks for the mentions Luke. If it hadn’t been for me, you wouldn’t have survived the assault on the first Death Star. It was me who shot Vader off of your tail.”
Luke smiled, then continued his tale, “Since then, many have tried to take the Emperor’s place. The Rebel Alliance built up into the New Republic and has been trying to restore the order that the Old Republic had. It hasn’t been easy. For my part, I have been trying to rebuild the Jedi Order. At the moment, there are no pressing matters, so Han and myself were going to take a little vacation.”
“And ended up in the midst of a terrible conflict. You certainly have had your share of hard times,” commented Picard.
“That’s putting it mildly. That’s really only half the story. Luke neglected to mention that he was the one who fired the torpedoes which destroyed the first Death Star. He also didn’t mention the hardships that he endured. After all, not many people can go up against one of the worst villains in the galaxy and come away in one piece,” Han said.
“That’s not entirely true Han. I lost my hand, in case you forgot,” Luke interrupted.
“You lost your hand?!” Riker asked incredulously.
Luke held up his right hand. “I lost this hand in the lightsaber duel against my father. This is an artificial limb.”
“I think that’s enough for now. If you will return to your ship and retrieve your starcharts, we’ll arrange for Data to help you find out how far away from home you are,” Picard said standing up.
************************************************************************
“Well, what do you think Number One?” Picard asked after Han and Luke left.
“I think it’s rather strange that in some ways their civilization can have such advanced technology, such as Skywalker’s artificial hand, and yet be traveling around in something as beat up as their ship,” Riker replied.
“I think it’s important to remember that these people have been fighting a civil war. Usually, weapons and medical technology advances far more than others during a crisis like that. Until he mentioned it, I had no idea that his right hand was artificial. Even our best artificial limbs can’t be that sophisticated,” Troi said.
“They certainly have an interesting culture. I hope we can learn more about them before they have to leave. Dismissed,” said Picard.
************************************************************************
Several minutes later, Han and Luke rematerialized on the deck of the Falcon. “You just had to ask how their transporter worked,” Luke said with a tinge of annoyance in his voice.
“How was I supposed to know how complicated the contraption was?” Han replied bitterly. They had spent some time listening to Geordi LaForge explain how the transporter functioned. “Chewie! Get our starcharts online! Then, put them on a portable data pad!” he yelled.
While Chewbacca got the starcharts ready, Han put the Falcon on a parallel course to the Enterprise. The battered freighter took up a position in the shadow of the magnificent vessel. The Enterprise wasn’t nearly as big as some of the ships from their galaxy, but it was at least as impressive as any Mon Calamari starship. As soon as the starcharts were ready, Luke and Han decided to return to the Enterprise.
************************************************************************
A few hours later, Han and Luke were patiently waiting in the Enterprise’s stellar cartography lab while Lieutenant Commander Data was running a program that compared the starcharts from the Millennium Falcon to the ones in the Enterprise computer.
“How much longer do you think this is gonna take?” Han said.
Data turned to the control panel. “Computer, status of starchart analysis.”
“Starchart analysis is fifty percent complete,” the computer responded. Han threw up his hands. “In other words, a long time,” he complained. He started pacing while Luke sat down and meditated. “You got anything to drink?” Han asked.
“Yes. We have a large variety of drinks. Is there anything specific that you would like?” Data replied.
“Uh…Corellian Whiskey?” Han suggested. Data walked over to what amounted to a rectangular hole in the wall. “Computer, Corellian Whiskey,” Data said.
“That selection is not valid,” the computer replied. Han looked shocked. “Alright, just give me any kind of whiskey!” he exclaimed. The computer beeped and the hole in the wall glowed. A moment later, a glass materialized. Data handed the glass of whiskey to Han.
“I don’t suppose you have it either, but I’d like a cup of hot chocolate,” Luke said. The matter replicator glowed again and a cup of hot chocolate appeared. Data handed it to Luke and went back to his work. Both Han and Luke drank their drinks while Data continued working.
A while later Captain Picard came in. “How’s it coming Data?” he asked.
“The analysis is almost done Captain. There is just another minute or so left.” Almost in response, the computer beeped. Data checked the control panel and then looked back at Picard. “Captain, according to the computer analysis, their galaxy is well over a million light-years away from our own,” he stated sadly.
“What does that mean?” Han inquired.
Picard sighed. “It means, Captain Solo that you cannot expect to return home in your lifetime.”
“Captain, there is the matter of the spatial anomaly that brought them here in the first place. Our scans have shown that it is currently stable. However, I highly doubt that it will last much longer,” Data said.
************************************************************************
As Han computed the trajectory for the jump to light speed, Luke transferred the coordinates to the Enterprise. “Thank you Luke. We’ll meet you there,” Picard said over the com-channel.
“Alright Luke, it looks like we’re ready. Strap yourself in,” Han said to Luke. They secured themselves. Han and Luke looked on as the Enterprise flew forward. Its engines flashed and the starship elongated and disappeared in a bright flash of light. Han and Luke shrugged. Han reached forward and pulled back on the lever. The stars elongated into star streaks and then into the mottled sky of hyperspace.
“Well, all that’s left is to go through that anomaly and go home,” Luke said.
Han shot him a look and growled, “It ain’t over yet kid. We have no idea if any other ships from our side came through. For all we know, we could be facing a Star Destroyer when we get to that anomaly.” Luke conceded the point with a shrug.
Nearly an hour later, the navi-computer beeped and Han eased the lever back forward. Hyperspace disappeared back into stars. The Millennium Falcon came to a rest next to the already resting Enterprise. Before the two ships, a strange spatial anomaly spun and flashed. “Well Luke, we’re here. Doesn’t seem like we have any extra company.” Chewie growled his opinion of that statement. “Oh come on Chewie. It’s just us and the Enterprise out here.”
As soon as he said that, the anomaly flashed and a Lancer-class frigate came through. “Uh oh. Han, that frigate’s got Imperial markings,” Luke said. As soon as he said that, the Lancer opened fire on the Enterprise. The turbolaser fire hit the Enterprise’s shields. Luke opened a communication channel to the Enterprise, “Picard, that’s an Imperial Lancer-class frigate! It’d be best that you destroy it quickly. The Falcon doesn’t stand a chance on its own.”
“Understood Skywalker. We’ll take care of it,” Picard replied. The channel closed and the Enterprise opened fire. Its weapons fire lanced out and hit the Lancer’s shields. The frigate fired both its turbolasers and ion cannons into the Federation starship. The Imperial weapons were absorbed by the Enterprise’s shields as the starship repositioned itself. A weapons port on the lower side of the saucer flashed three times and three blue torpedoes flew towards the Lancer. The torpedoes tore through the frigate’s shields and smashed into the Lancer’s hull. The Lancer erupted in a shower of sparks and debris.
Han let out a sigh. After a moment, a thought came to him. “Luke, can you sense through that anomaly?” he asked.
Luke stretched out with the Force, then turned to Han. “I think that the other side’s clear.”
The comlink opened and Captain Picard’s voice filtered through. “Captain Solo, our scans show that the anomaly is on the verge of collapsing. If you’re going home, you’d better get through it now. Good luck, and Godspeed my friends,” Picard said. The channel closed and the Enterprise banked away from the Falcon and the anomaly.
“Well kid, ready to go home?”
“Absolutely. I think I’ve had enough of a vacation.” Both Han and Luke laughed at the absurdity of the statement. The Millennium Falcon jumped forward into the anomaly and traveled back to their home galaxy. Although the anomaly collapsed soon after, both Starfleet and the New Republic kept a lookout for more like it, so that one day, the two galaxies could reunite in peace.
