Disclaimer:
I don’t own. Never have and never will, unless George Lucas decides to adopt me. (Which is just as unlikely to happen, but hey, I can dream, can’t I?)
Author’s Note:
I found this in the depths of my hard drive and decided to continue it. I’ve got a good part of it written, and it’s a pretty short story, so it won’t be awhile before my posts become few and far between (hoping to avoid that this time around though
). It’s not the best of stuff I’ve written, but whatever. Hope you like anyway.

Part I
She missed him.
That was the very first thing she noticed about the entire situation. And it wasn’t as if she missed him just because he had become a fixture in her everyday life; she truly, honestly missed him, felt the sting of the absence of his presence. She even admitted (only to herself, of course) that it was something totally uncharacteristic of her. That did not mean, however, that she was about to let him know that. Quite the contrary, really. She would never let anyone know she felt such things. It would be too much of an admission of failure.
And so, even if she did miss him, she ignored that feeling. She tried to, at least. Whether she succeeded was still to be decided. For the mean time it didn’t seem to be working. Her ignoring the fact that she missed him, that is.
She treated life as she would have treated it any other day, going about her own business in her usual manner. Nevermind that she struggled to get him out of her head every waking moment (discounting every night when she would dream of him, of course), and that almost everything in her tiny one-room apartment reminded her of him, from her carpet’s dark shades of grey and black (she was convinced it strikingly resembled his hair, in one way or the other, and would daily make a mental note to have it removed whenever she had the time) to the blade of her lightsaber whenever she would activate it during her morning exercises (he was, after all, the one who had taught her to master the weapon and made her the best duelist in the galaxy, second only to him) to the green moss that colored her walls (maybe it was its greenness that reminded her of his eyes). Nevermind all of that. Nevermind it as best she could, at least.
All that aside, yes, she tried to pretend as if life was just going along as usual. Nothing out of the ordinary, except for the occasional assassin pathetically attempting to blast a hole through her head (though that could very well be considered normal, considering her track record). Nothing that interested her in the least. Nothing at all.
But who was she fooling? Perhaps her friends couldn’t see through the fake disguise of strength and will she put on. Maybe she even succeeded in deceiving her family. Maybe. But she knew the truth deep within herself.
And that was what made her hate him all the more.
She hated him for being him. She hated him for not being gentlemanly or knightly or chivalrous. They were qualities that, should he have possessed them at all, surely would have repelled him from her. She hated him for being having that roguish charm, that arrogant manliness, that stubbornness that so appealed to her. She hated him for every time he had flashed his eyes at her, had winked at her, had smiled at her, had grinned at her.
She hated him for making her fall in love with him in the first place.
Not that she was in love with him anymore, of course. Why, quite the opposite. That was the very reason why he wasn’t here. He wasn’t here for the simple reason that she didn’t love him, and he didn’t love her. The way he used to, anyway. If he ever love her at all.
And because he wasn’t here, she missed him.
It was all his fault.
--
He missed her.
That was the first thing he noticed about the entire situation. And it wasn’t as if he missed her just because she had become a fixture in his everyday life; he truly, honestly missed her, felt the sting of the absence of her presence. He even admitted (only to himself, of course) that it was something totally uncharacteristic of him. That did not mean, however, that he was about to let her know that. Quite the contrary, really. He would never let anyone know he felt such things. It would be too much of an admission of failure.
And so, even if he did miss her, he ignored that feeling. He tried to, at least. Whether he succeeded was still to be decided. For the mean time it didn’t seem to be working. His ignoring the fact that he missed her, that is.
It seemed as if life was back to normal again. The definition of “normal” was quite ambiguous in this matter, however, considering that he had never, at any point in his life, actually led a life that most would consider normal. Come to think of it, no one in their right mind could call his life a normal one.
So perhaps the correct statement in this case would be that life was back to normal in his own less than ordinary way. True, it is somewhat of a contradiction of itself, yet it would be the only accurate way to describe it. He began to live the bachelor’s life he had had before their union, before all this mess. Well, tried to.
It wasn’t as if he didn’t enjoy his newfound freedom. With his charm and with his looks, he knew he could have any woman he wanted. He could go around traveling the galaxy again, playing the role of rogue Jedi. He could give up his seat on the High Council and reform his band of vigilante fighters, his justification this time not to punish pirates in the Outer Rim but instead to sterilize the galaxy of whatever pockets of Yuuzhan Vong were left.
That was his plan, anyway. For now, he didn’t have any heart to actually make good on it.
He really shouldn’t have been like this. After all, he had his entire life ahead of him. Besides that, he had almost everything at his disposal to enjoy that life. Instead, here he was, wondering what to do next.
He figured—no, not only figured. He
reasoned
that it must be all her fault. After all, if she had never even been near as attractive as she was, he would never had even let himself look at her in a romantic light. Not only was she more than just eye candy, though, but there was no denying that it was her inner strength, her pride and will, that drew her to him in the first place. Not that he found her attractive anymore, of course. To him, her beauty was gone. She was anything but beautiful to him, and all that he could see of her was her true self—a little, conniving, self-centered spoiled brat. That was exactly what she was.
That’s what he told himself she was, anyway. Whether he actually believed that still had to be seen.
He wasn’t even supposed to miss her. He was supposed to be perfectly happy and content that she was finally gone from his life.
It was all her fault.

I know, I know, it's confusing, but things will be worked out as it progresses. I promise.

As always, Den, I like your prose! Wonderful beginning! Let’s have K/J at each other’s throats
. At first, when I saw this story’s summary, I thought it would be a love triangle (yeah, *groan*).
Trust us to post near or on American Thanksgiving when most people are away, eh?

And I like confusing.

Thanks! More soon coming right up
Ams:
Oh, they’ll be at each other’s throats in this fic, all right
Don’t worry, I don’t have a love triangle in here… trust me to put in something much worse than that
Glad you like, though!
JJD:
Welcome to my little playground!
I’m glad to be back too
Post right after this.

Very short post, but it’s something for now.

Dear Kyp.
Too intimate.
Dear Master Durron.
Too obvious.
Master Durron.
Too formal.
Kyp.
Too simple.
Master Kyp.
Too weird.
To Whom It May Concern:
Too formal
and
too obvious.
All right, fine.
Dear Kyp…
--
Dear Jaina.
What the bloody nine hells am I calling her “dear” for?
Jaina.
Sith. I still sound like her kriffing husband.
General Solo.
Too many generals in that family.
To General Jaina Solo:
She’ll see right through it.
Dear General Solo.
She’ll still see right through it.
To Whom It May Concern:
Yeah, right.
Just writing her a kriffing letter gives me a kriffing headache.
Dear Jaina…
--
No, I’m not writing you because I miss you, so get your head out of the septic tank, Durron. I’m writing strictly for business purposes. Don’t get any ideas.
According to the settlement, since you were rewarded the chrome speeder bike (the one that you promised me for our anniversary, you little liar), I was given legal ownership of the x12 convertible. If you will not deliver it to me by the day after tomorrow at 1000 sharp at my residence, I will personally pay you a visit to pick up what is rightfully mine. You cannot complain that I did not give you ample notice, as the evidence is right here in this message. I suggest you don’t try to pull anything stupid, like you always do.
Take care. Or not.
--
I’m not giving you the bloody x12 back. I bought it, and I’m keeping it. You’re a little conniving little rat, you are, and I’m not giving you a bloody iota of what I own. I don’t care if you bring your sorry arse here to get it yourself. You couldn’t pry it out of my dead hands even if you wanted to.
I hope you fall off a cliff or something.
--
Sincerely, General J. Solo

I was laughing so hard at that that I wasn't even making any noise!
I don't know why that was so funny to me...I'm still laughing!

LOL. Yeah this is great
Really funny
I can imagine any confrontation between the two of them could be potentially explosive, considering the history you've given them.
Can't wait to see the next chapter.
