	Title: Prayer Author: Smuggler_Shidakis Timeframe: End of the Jedi Academy Trilogy Characters: Kyp Genre: Angst Summary: Kyp wants to die after returning from the dark side. Notes: Weird little thing I thought up. Unbetaed, so ye be warned. ~~Prayer~~ He prayed for death. He knew that he had no right to ask anything of the Force, but still he prayed. He longed for death's release, to float free from his demons. It wasn't the physical pain that made him want to die. He could handle the pain, the sharp spikes that came with the fact that he'd broken nearly every bone in his body. In his mind, he deserved the pain. During the darkest hours of the night, when the medbay was silent save for the low hum of machines, he asked himself why he'd bothered to cram himself into the message canister. Why he'd bothered to save his own worthless life. It had been, he decided, a moment of weakness. He was disgusted with himself. With every waking moment he was acutely aware of the blood of billions that stained his hands. By wondering how many children had lived on Carida, he tortured himself. Drove himself to the edge with the knowledge that innocents had died by his hands. How had he fallen so far? How could he have committed such terrible deeds, deeds equal to, or worse than, even, the atrocities of Darth Vader and the Empire, the very Empire he despised? The knowledge that he'd willingly, eagerly, apprenticed himself to a Dark Lord of the Sith consumed him, flooded him with guilt and shame. He was no better than the Imperials that he condemned. Zeth haunted him, in sleep and wakefulness. In his head, he played those few, long moments over and over, like a holovid. The horrible moment in which Zeth had recognized his wayward brother was burned into his brain. He recalled, over and over, the moment in which he'd realized the terrible truth. He had killed his own brother. Murdered his brother. For that alone, he deserved to burn in all nine hells. It caused him unmeasurable torment every time he remembered the kindness that Han Solo and Master Skywalker had shown him. They'd offered him a chance at a better life, a life as a Jedi. He'd repaid them with death and destruction. And even still they were sympathetic, offering him forgiveness. Forgiveness that he didn't deserve. All he deserved was death, a painful death. He imagined that each little ache and pain represented one of the lives he had taken so brutally, so callously. The Galaxy should have been rid of him, the Destroyer of Carida, the mass murderer. Master Skywalker and Han had prevented his jailing. Now, there was only one truly just punishment for his heinous crime. He prayed for justice, that he might pay for all the pain he'd caused, the lives he'd stolen. He prayed for death. It did not come. -- EDIT: I cannot believe it. There are NINE hells, not seven! 	Wow, Smuggler. Just wow. That was brilliant! Fantastic! And I think, very true. You wrote it magnificently. Portrayed Kyp's guilt and shame in a way nothing short of superb. It's been a while since I've read anything as good as this. Excellent work. Would you mind terribly if I print it out? 	Wow! As usual, you've managed to swipe all that I could think of saying and make it totally meaningless. Whoa! Wow! Duuuuuh!
