	This is a continuation of my very first fic The Rebirth . It was a look into the minds of Luke and Vader/Anakin at the end of ROTJ. This next part continues the story later that night, and beyond.... All characters belong to DA MAN GL! The Reunion: Part 1 The fires had died down. Luke sat alone in the Ewok village contemplating everything that had happened in the last few days. He watched as a charred piece of wood fell into the glowing embers beneath it. It was quiet….everyone had retired to their huts or make-shift tents for the night. Crickets gently chirped all about him. He still couldn’t shake out of his mind the picture of his father’s face as he had taken his last few breaths of life. After seeing his father again, his young father standing before him with Obi-Wan and Yoda, Luke realized how much his old father had been through. The two faces looked nothing alike. One was dark and torn, decayed and drained, deathly….beaten, evidence of “Vader” scaring his entire form. However, his eyes remained the window to his true soul. Through them you could see the Anakin Luke saw standing there before him earlier that evening, the other face that was new and alive, bright and strong, wise and heroic, beautiful and angelic…worthy. So different on the surface, but the eyes were the same. Yes, the emperor hadn’t driven it from him fully. ‘You were right about me Luke!’ his father had admitted it. And then there was his last, dying request…. ‘Tell your sister you were right about me…’ Luke hadn’t fulfilled this request yet, but was very eager to tell Leia that he had been right. He had known in his heart that there really was still good in their father and he was sure she would be overjoyed to know this. There hadn't been time to tell her during all their celebration and now she was sleeping soundly, for certain. The right time would present itself… He jabbed at the embers with a stick, sparks exploding like tiny fireworks and floating into the sky with the billowing smoke. Luke caught the sound of an Endorian owl’s call somewhere in the distance. He wished his father would have lived just a little longer. As time went by since those last words were spoken Luke had thought of so many things he still wanted to say. So many questions he wanted answers to. He wished that maybe, just maybe….perhaps like Obi-Wan had done for him so many times- ‘No…’ he stopped himself. His father would rest in peace now and if that was the will of the force, so be it. At least that’s what his mind kept telling him. He wished he could convince his heart… Luke looked up into the night sky. The stars were shinning bright as ever now that the last ember had died down. Luke knew in his heart his father was at peace now, but this same heart was breaking. It couldn’t be convinced or subdued any longer. All at once, the weight of everything that had happened, that had rested on his shoulders came crashing down on him. He remembered his hope of returning to Leia with their father- alive. He felt like that little boy again on his uncle’s farm on Tatooine who used to look out to the horizon and dream of his warrior-pilot father and what a wonderful man he must’ve been. And now, after all those years of thinking he was dead and long gone, he’d finally come so close to actually knowing him! Those dreams were over now. It was all over now and he didn’t want to regret…he didn’t want his father’s memory to be in vein, but he couldn’t hold back anymore. He buried his face in his hands and sobbed like he was that little boy again. He let it all come spilling out. He didn’t have to be strong for anyone anymore, not even his sister. He was alone, like he had been earlier that night watching his father’s corporal form diminish to ashes. In this solitude he could do this, finally. A few long moments passed and he was able to calm himself a little. Suddenly a noise of crackling leaves caught his attention. I thought that with all of his boyhood dreaming and almost idolization of his father (before he knew the truth ) it would all surface again after what happened. Then he would do some real grieving...especially after the tremendous burden he carried with him to try to save him. mixza - Hey there! Thanks! Absolutely beautiful and captures Luke, Anakin and the force so beautifully. I kept seeing flashes of how shocked Luke is when Anakin dies in his hands, how he stares at him and is virtually unable to move. I always knew he'd have those moments again, the longing for speaking more with Anakin, the longing for seeing his sister with Anakin, the longing for seeing the friendship between Ben and Anakin etc etc. You already know how much i love you...and your fics , so i'll be honest - i had very high expectations for this one, and from what i just read. Great minds think alike, my friend! You already know how much i love you...and your fics , so i'll be honest - i had very high expectations for this one, and from what i just read. You're going to shatter them once more. I'm a little nervous that you are always raising your expectations for my fics so high ....Hope I can always please!
