	Okay. This is my first songfic. Consequently, it probably sucks. I spent about five minutes typing this. Glory of Love is by Peter Cetera. Jacen and Tenel Ka are both SW. The inspiration is from the Songfic Challenge thread in the resource forum. Here we go! ***** Tonight it's very clear As we're both lying here Jacen’s head rose and looked to the left. The explosive didn’t seem too powerful at first, but he and Tenel Ka were both tossed a good three meters back. “Hey, Tenel Ka. Are you-” He stopped when he felt something wrong. Or rather, the absence of something very near and dear to him. His brown eyes floated over and saw Tenel Ka lying in a pool of blood. Her gray eyes were closed and blood poured from her mouth. There's so many things I want to say I will always love you I would never leave you alone An incoherent scream came from Jacen’s mouth. He rolled over and grabbed Tenel Ka’s shoulders. “Oh, god. Oh, god. OH, GOD! Tenel Ka, wake up! Please, wake up!” He pulled himself into a sitting position and laid her head in his lap. Her reddish locks cascaded around him as her eyes open slightly. “…Jacen?” Sometimes I just forget Say things I might regret Tears poured from Jacen’s eyes. “Yeah, I’m here. Please, don’t leave me. I love you!” At that moment, he realized he had never told her those words. A thousand memories came unbidden to him in the next few seconds; images of them on Hapes, training on Yavin and other missions around known space. And those three words had never left his mouth… It breaks my heart to see you crying I don't wanna lose you I could never make it alone Tenel Ka’s right arm rose slowly and she brushed a few of Jacen’s tears away. “Do not grieve for me, friend Jacen. I die in your arms knowing that you loved me. I thus die fulfilled.” And with that, her spirit left her body for the Force. I am a man who will fight for your honor I'll be the hero you're dreaming of Jacen clutched her body to him as his spirit broke. No, no! I was the one who should’ve died, not her! I was the gallant Jedi Knight protecting the beautiful princess. Sobs wracked his body even after Jaina and Zekk found him. We'll live forever Knowing together that we Did it all for the glory of love You'll keep me standing tall You'll help me through it all Jaina kept an eye on her brother during the funeral. His eyes were bloodshot and had massive dark circles under them. When the torch was put to the byre, he lost all composure and fled from the meadow. I'm always strong when you're beside me I have always needed you I could never make it alone Jacen ran down the hill , finally collapsing beside a babbling brook. A sudden voice startled him. “Who’s’ there?” He shouted, jumping up. “Show yourself!” The young Jedi stopped and cocked his head to the side. “Ah, I see. Well, I’m glad you’re all right.” I am a man who will fight for your honor I'll be the hero you've been dreaming of We'll live forever Knowing together that we Did it all for the glory of love Just like a knight in shining armor From a long time ago Just in time I will save the day Take you to my castle far away Leia, Han, Anakin and Jaina walked down the white hall. An orderly led them down the antiseptic corridor. “…And he’s been doing much better since being admitted.” The quintet stopped at a large door. The orderly pressed a series of buttons on a pad embedded in the door and it swung open. Leia, Anakin and Jaina suddenly felt a bit weak as they entered a Force-dampening field created by two small ysalamiri. Leia let out a gasp while Han’s mouth formed a grim line. Anakin and Jaina, meanwhile, simply stared in shock at their brother. Jacen sat on a padded floor, once short brown hair a tangled mess. He looked up at his family and smiled. “Oh, you’re here!” He turned his head to the right and spoke to air. “I told you they’d be here, Tenel Ka.” He slowly got to his feet and motioned to the empty space beside him. “Mom, Dad, Tenel Ka and I are getting married. Do we have your blessing?” I am a man who will fight for your honor I'll be the hero you're dreaming of We're gonna live forever Knowing together that we Did it all for the glory of love Jacen waved at his family as they left. “Well, that didn’t go too well. I wonder what they object to? I know Mom wouldn’t mind.” He shrugged and sat back down, lost in his own thoughts about a flame-haired goddess and the love they would never share. 	Whoo-Weee Angst galore! Still, a preaty sureal picture you painted. Nicely done. What I would really like to see now is a Don Quixote style of rebirth where someone who knows Jacen forces him to face the painful reality and accept it. Zekk is who springs to my mind, but that's just me. Maybe the great spirit chicken (Vergere) would do better. 	WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! sniff Geez, Striker! As if the heart-wrending death scene wasn't bad enough... as if the song interspersed wasn't very well chosen... now Jacen's a cracked, pitiful shell of the man he once was!!!! sniff sniff Very good, Striker. Very well written and quite unexpected at the end. thinks We've never really had anyone go mad before, have we? In the official SW universe, I mean... It's actually a nice touch. Definitely loved the song. Very fitting and unexpectedly sad when put in the context of your fic. I'd go into how good the death scene was again, but I'm almost out of "cry" faces. 	All right! Now I'm really pulling for a sequel now! It would fit in really well with the J/Z folks around here because the guy who forced Don Quixote to face reality did it so that he could marry Quixote's relative (and not be socially embarrassed). I've got a lot of other projects going on...and I've never read Don Quixote either. I know, I know. That's one of those books you should read. Jody-Thank you! Yes, I murdered the original intent of the song. I just knew that when readers see that I wrote a J/TK songfic to 'Glory of Love', they'd expect mush from me. Okay! ^_^ (I'd tease you by calling you a reply junkie, but I just can't bring myself to do it after you replied so nicely to my first fic-post! ) Well, I thought that Jacen and Tenel Ka were in character (YJK character, of course... ) with Jacen panicking and emotional and Tenel Ka very calm and collected, even dying. The dialogue was direct and intense- appropriate as they're both trying to get things said in a limited time. Actually, I think my favorit part is the first paragraph. Jacen is still in the grip of the complacent thinking that we were all in before the NJO: they're important to me, so they can't die. He looks over fully expecting her to be battered but okay- never even imagining that death is a possibility. He's very casual about it, even. Yeah, there was an explosion, but look at all the even more horrible things we've survived. No problem. But she's not there. Something is wrong. She not "where she should be", so to speak.
