I don't know if this is a repeat or not...
I always thought that Chewbacca made Ponda Baba's arm come off in the cantina. Because of Han's line about "wookies pulling peoples arms out of their sockets..." and so i see the bloody arm lying there on the floor, i put 2 + 2 together. (Ben pulling out his sabre in the cantina never even registered with me.)

RE: The misconceptions you had about Star Wars, when you were a kid.
My only dialogue misconception was relatively minor: Yoda's "always in motion is the future" simply became "always emotion is the future". Nothing too lifechanging...
On the other hand, I'd actually read an article somewhere that said episodes IV to VI were the middle three stories of a larger series called
"The Adventures of Luke Skywalker"
by George Lucas.
I spent literally
hours
(sic) at the library trying to find these other stories. Poring through sheets upon sheets of microfiche to try and track down the other titles. Eventually of course, I stumbled across Alan Dean Foster's
Splinter of the Mind's Eye
but there was nothing else, (this was probably C1982.)
Whoever wrote that article, I hope they were satisfied that they ruined a few of my childhood afternoons and destroyed a lot of childhood hopes about finding more stories...

This is sort of related, I guess . .
I thought the film "Force 10 From Navarone" was a Han Solo movie because is had Harrison Ford in it and had the word "Force" in the title.
I actually made my Mom take me to see it. Needless to say, I was a bit disappointed.

I don't remember any actual misconceptions when watching the movies. I was 9 when ANH came out, and my dad made sure I understood everything.
What I do remember, however, is how deathly afraid of Darth Vader all us kids were. He was like the boogie-man, and every time we were bad or misbehaved, we were always warned that Darth Vader would get us. LOL. I never even considered him being a human under his mask, even after he stated he was Luke's dad. Sheez, going trick-or-treating was pretty frightening - if someone answered the door as Darth Vader, I had to force myself not to run! hehe! Too Funny!

I thought Vader`s lightsaber was built-in in his arm and extendible thru the palm of his hand.

Of course, all the Star Wars aliens actually had the names of their Kenner figures... In fact, lets face it - they still do!
ex.
Ponda Baba
is really named
Walrus Man
,
Kabe
is in fact
Snaggletooth
and
Momaw Nadon
(Hah, such stupid names!) is of course actually called
Hammerhead
!

My friend thought that the Emperor was Vader's grandpa. I thought that C3PO really WAS magic in the Ewok village when Luke used the Force to lift him up

hehehehe
I was young when i saw it but i didn't remember Luke being with his Uncle and his Aunt.
I thought Luke was with ben a long time ago.
I thought Obi-Wan-Kenobi was "Wan hundred years old"
I also thought that the red lightsaber was ben's so i thought he commited suicide but my parents corrected my mind
I thought thet the Millenium Falcon was really a falcon turned into a ship thats why its fast.

The first time I saw ANH I thought that when OB1 turns around after inspecting Luke and says "hello there" to R2 he was talking to the audience, and it was gunna be a kid's movie.

I thought that when Luke falls after Vader chops off his hand, that he would find it and his lightsaber down there. Then they would reattach his hand.

"LEIA: This is some rescue. When you came in here, didn't you have a plan for getting out?
HAN: Peas for brains, sweetheart."
For a while, I thought it was "B for brains, sweetheart."
