When I was extremely young, I used to to think that Star Wars was a spinoff or ripoff of Star Trek. Utterly blasphemous, isn't it?

I used to think that C3 P0 was some sort of god and would bow down and worship him every time he came on screen along with my family.
Boy they sure tricked us...

Hi, first time poster, long time lurker, blah blah blah.
"I always thought that when Vader released him and his head fell towards the table that the round light underneath his mouth was something that he spit up because he was being choked."
Haha, me too. Apart from that, the only other real misconceptions I had was when I was young and saw part of Jedi. I thought Jabba's palace was some kind of hotel, or guest house and Luke, Leia and the droids were guests. I remember being upset that Jabba died because I thought that he was being a good host and Luke and Leia were being ugreatful guests. I also thought that Yoda was called little Jabba and he was upset that his buddy big Jabba died and that luke was tucking him into bed telling him everything would be alright.

I used to think the OT was about Luke and that Vader was the bad guy! Haha, was I fooled!!
Seriously, I used to believe a mish-mash of the things that you guys have mentioned. That thing about the guy coughing up the yellow stuff, I always thought that, too, as a child.

When I was a kid I always thought that the Death Star II was what was left of the original Death Star after it blew up. How and why I thought they would just leave half of the Death Star there to be rebuilt, I don't know. I was kid.

I don't think I had any in the first one, although the scene where the lightsaber absorbs the remote blasts gave em the impression that the lightsaber absorbed them and didn't reflect them.
I thought that the Twi'Lek dancer whose name escapes me was shrunk when she fell into the pit and she was the frog that Jabba ate right after it!
//thinks some more
Hmm.
I thought that when Vader said "It is the only way" that he meant that the only way for Luke to escape was to jump!
I thought that the Ewoks were little Wookies.
Hehe...
That's about it.

I think ROTJ was the first one I saw. I remember being so confused that Luke's lightsaber was sometimes green and sometimes light blue.

This is so funny - I had to read all 10 pages! :S
I saw ANH when v little and was sure that the rebels retreating in the first scene were Canadian - don't really know why..
And, just like everyone else in the cinema, when I first saw ESB, I was shocked at the ending, because I KNEW that Darth Vader was lying as he was a robot (I'd been too scared to keep my eyes open during the meditation scene)....

Dare I say this is one of the best threads in the Jedi Council Forum? No bashing , no gushing , just people joining together in their fond memories of what STAR WARS used to be
I would like to say that out of all the misconceptions, there is one I actually think would make the trilogy better - Death Star II being the remains of the first one
Most of us thought so anyway
I remember I used to think that the Millenium Falcon was real, I often woke up and believed the Falcon was parked outside, waiting for me to take a ride.

Thanks Ree Yees and all others. I'm glad you like the thread. It's great to hear all your misconceptions and views and to help reassure myself that I wasn't the only naive child out there.

In the beginning of ESB, I thought that only Jedi or apprentice Jedi(later Padawans) could even wield Lightsabers, so I was always confused as to whether the person who cut the tauntaun open was Han or Luke.
I thought that Leia was pretending to be a very evil villain when they said she was an Imperial Senator.
I also thought DSII was the remains of the DS, but then, I saw pictures of DSII before I even knew RotJ was a movie. As soon as I saw it, I was put right.
I thought Executor was pronounced "EXecutor" instead of "exECutor".

RE: The misconceptions you had about Star Wars, when you were a kid.
I used to think it was Dark Vader.
A group of us thought the Star Destroyer in the beginning of ANH was called the Empire.
Let's see... there were certain little changes in the lines our minds used to always make, I don't know why.
I once thought the Royal Guards were some sort of Dark Jedi or something like that, with their robes and strange weapons.
It took me a while to realize that Luke and Leia jumped onto the same level in ANH, rather than the higher one where the obviously-still-alive stormtroopers and dead stormtroopers were, so I thought they screwed up by not showing the bodies on the platform or having the last trooper(s) get shot.
For a long time we thought Vader's fighter was a TIE Fighter Mark II.
For many years I thought Ben only struck Dr. Ezaran in the bar skirmish. I took me many years to realize the Imperial March wasn't in ANH.

RE: The misconceptions you had about Star Wars, when you were a kid.
This is one of the funniest posts I have read in a long time, I just sarted posting myself.
-I thought the Mos Eisley spy was a an ant eater
-I called him 'Dark Vader'
-I called stormtroopers 'skulltroopers' (cause of their white armor and masks)
-When I was real young I thought vader got hurt in a car crash, dont ask.
-I thought Ponda Baba had an a$$ where his mouth was supposed to be, and a mouth where his a$$ was supposed to be.

"- I thought the trench battle in ANH took place in the trench that runs along the Death Star's equator. (Later realized it was where all the landing bays were located.)"
[face_shocked] it's not???? .....
< feels stupid
It took me forever to notice that alien was following them at Mos Eisley. I didn't even notice him for so many years...
