Title: A Grievous Crime
Author: Palpy560
Time: Clone Wars
Characters: GG, Count Dooku, Shaak Ti, Palpatine, Mace Windu, Anakin and Obi, San Hill and Yoda.
Notes: This is my first attempt at GG.
This is written in script format for the character dialogue. (My regulars, you know what I mean, others, I hope you enjoy.)

Lightsabers twirled like continuous bands of blue and green. Quick as lightning, two of his Magna Guards leapt into action. The programs installed by Count Dooku proved most effective. Indeed, they were a match for any Jedi.
Count Dooku: No, no no.
Grievous gave an irritated growl. Count Dooku always watched over their sparing like a hawk.
Count Dooku: Light thrusts General. Attack slower!
General Grievous: Count Dooku, why must you perfect my every movement. In the scheme of things (cough) as long as they die, I have done my job.
Count Dooku: Oh really? Well, we’ll see how fast you destroy Mace Windu with such sloppy attacks. Or even Yoda.
General Grievous: Fool, they never attack in the open ground. Always pulling strings from behind the lines.
Count Dooku: I do hope that remark was directed to your bodyguards General. Now, pay close attention. Lord Sidious has informed me of a Jedi operation he discovered via his connections in the Republic. They will be investigating our “Dark Serpent project" in the outer rim worlds.
Grievous inched forward slowly.
General Grievous: What would you have me do, milord?
Count Dooku: Go to Tatooine and hunt down these Jedi before they discover the project. If they do, then the future of our movement may be at stake.

Grievous bowed low and with a sweep of his black cape, marched off with his entourage.

****
Mace Windu, Yoda and Obi-wan sat alone in the Chancellor's office awaiting an audience with Palpatine. At last, the Chancellor walked out to his desk and welcomed them with a broad gesture of open arms.
Palpatine: At last, I've been waiting for you.
Yoda: Not so long as we.

Palpatine nodded and slumped into his control chair.

Palpatine: Now to business. Your team of Jedi is making its way to Tatooine correct?
Mace: Yes, I sent Master Ti with a batallion of Clone Troopers this morning.
Palpatine: Excellent. I asume you have all read the report on our intel brief?
Yoda: Read the report 3 times I did. Confused I am.
Palpatine: About what Master Yoda?
Yoda: The report says that in the Outer Rim Grievous is. Yet spotted in the inner systems he was only days ago.
Obi-Wan: I must agree here, how could your intelligence have known the location of Grievous if he has been in the core all this time?
Palpatine: The seperatist fleet is very fast. It can jump from system to system in seconds. I see nothing strange about it. However you did notice that in the report, it mentions that the "Dark Serpent Project" involves genetic replication of some type.
Yoda: Concerned about this, are you hmm?
Palpatine: I am simply interested in what technology like that could provide for the medical world.
Yoda: Replication we have chancellor. Our army, replicated it is.
Palpatine: The seperatists are using a Method called Iooleesh, which replicates the DNA of said persons without tampering with Genetic structure. In other words, if we cloned Master Kenobi, the clone would be Kenobi. With his memories, his views and his powers.
Mace: Are you saying that this Iooleesh Method can replicate a Force-Sensative and their powers?
Palpatine: Exactly so.

Oooh I like the way the fan fic is set up, with the script format. The idea seems very interesting indeed. And how did Palpatine know what the Dark Serpent Project was? wink

I hope you continue this! With all the other fics you have...

Grievous annoyed by Dooku's insistance on perfection...hmm..angst, I sense.

This is good as I said, can't wait for more! grin

In the vast desert lands of Tatooine's outskirts, some tribes had built small pyramids and temples. One such structure now acted as base to the COIS. San Hill and the others now walked fearfully to the General's shuttle. The door rolled back with a snap and out jumped Grievous and his Magna Droids.

General Grievous: Double the guard outside the control room!
Battle Droid: It's been done General.
General Grievous: Excellent, the Dark Serpent Project must be protected.
-----------
Shaak Ti and her batallion made ready to enter the base some miles away. The Jedi had selected her for this mission because she had some great skill of infiltration.

Shaak Ti: Is everything in place Captain?
Clone Captain Lawrence: Yes, we are ready to move.
Shaak Ti: Then may the Force be with us all.

They charged forward. The battle began in a blaze of blaster bolts and one blue Lightsaber blade. Before long however, Ti noticed that the line was being driven back. Obviously Grievous had doubled the guard from the earlier reports.
-------
General Grievous: (laugh, cough) No Jedi can withstand such a force. The control room is safe. But we might as well finish them off. [to Magna Droids] Kill the troops and bring the Jedi to me.
-----------------
The clones found themselves ambushed by the Magna Droids. Their Electro-Staffs humming to life with purple light.

Clone Captain Lawrence: Master Jedi, Magna Droids!
Shaak Ti: Move back, I'll handle this.
Shaak Ti jumped forward and delivered a swift kick to one droid. But the others were too fast and their Staffs twirled like spinning saw blades. She backed away and several troopers tried to force the attackers back, but were easily destroyed.

Shaak Ti called on the Force and sent one droid spinning into the air. The last of the droids knocked her off her feet but she threw a handfull of sand into its Eye Lenses and it fell back with a clank.

Shaak Ti: Captain, move forward, the base is ours.
General Grievous: Not so fast, Jedi!
The Droid General called down from a high viewpoint ontop of the Pyramid. Flanked by Super Battle Droids
Shaak Ti: Grievous. You will not escape justice this time.
General Grievous: ha ha ha ha (cough) Fool Jedi, you are outnumbered. I have over 2000 droids here. There is no way that you alone can take this stronghold. I will have your Lightsaber before the day is done.
Clone Captain Lawrence: Don't be so sure.
General Grievous: Ha ha ha ha!
The General clanked down the Pyramid steps slowly. Then with a loud thud and a plum of sand, he removed from his cape four sabers and spun them around in quick sequence.
General Grievous: You're mine clone trooper.
Clone Captain Lawrence: I don't think so.
Lawrence fired a bolt at Grievous's breast plate. But it shot back with no effect
General Grievous: Rather pathetic.
Grievous thrust a green saber through the clone's chest and turned his attention to the Jedi.
General Grievous: Now, I have you all to myself. I could use another blue blade.
Shaak Ti: And I know where to put it.

General Grievous: Fool, you cannot win. Stand down now and I will make your death as painless as can be expected.
Shaak Ti: You may be a cunning swordsman Grievous but you are no Jedi.
General Grievous: Prepare to meet your demise.

Swirls of blue and green sent sparks high into the air as Cyborg and Jedi clashed Sabers. Shaak Ti soon discovered that she was no match alone. Grievous had been trained in the Jedi arts by the Sith. That much was clear from the Intel gathered on the Seperatists. But Ti herself recognized the fluid motion of the weapons as trade marks of Count Dooku. And when she realized that she was up against the flawless attacks of Old-Style combat, she began to panic.
Enveloped in the Force, she pushed him back. But Grievous's unorthodox speed and power proved the victor in the end. She fell back and a plum of sand went into the air.

General Grievous: Take her away.
The Super Battle Droids cart her off.

Battle Droid on Com-link: General, urgent message on hyperwave transceiver 136.
General Grievous: Patch it through to my quarters. (cough)
He half expected to see the image of Count Dooku and was therefore taken aback to see the blue image of Darth Sidious.

General Grievous: Milord, this is most irregular. Perhaps I should transfer you to Count Doookuuu’s…..
Sidious: No, General, this message is directed to you. I have knowledge of a Jedi operation to stop you from achieving your goals on Tatooine.
General Grievous: (cough) The Jedi has been dealt with milord.
Sidious: But not the others the Council has sent to aid Shaak Ti. Obi-wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker have been summoned from the nearby sieges to help their fellow Jedi escape death at your hands. She must have activated a homing device before being taken prisoner.
General Grievous: Ah, the hero with no fear. I should very much like his saber as a trophy.
Sidious: No, Skywalker must be left alive. And preferably…unharmed.
General Grievous: Milord? What purpose could you have in keeping an enemy strong? (cough)
Sidious: That will be revealed to you in time. For now you must abide by my orders. Do whatever you wish with Kenobi and Ti. I’m sending Lord Tyranus to you. He has his own missions here. Yours is to protect the Dark Serpent Project.
General Grievous: Yes Lord Sidious.
------------------
Shaak Ti woke to find herself chained in a lower region of the Pyramid. There was a loud creaking and the door was pushed open. In came a battle droid carrying a tray of food.
OOG99: Here’s your food Jedi.
Ti looked down to find rather delicious looking pastries.
Shaak Ti: What? Are they poisoned?
OOG99: Compliments of the General.
Shaak Ti: Ugh! This stuff is terrible!
OOG99: Eat it.
Shaak Ti: Not until that coward shows his face.
OOG99: Who?
Shaak Ti: Grievous!
General Grievous: Ah, crying for me already. Ha ha ha! (hack)
Shaak Ti: Monster! Release me!
General Grievous: How do you like your treats Jedi?
Shaak Ti: Disgusting. I’m sure they’re drugged.
General Grievous: (eyes Lightsaber on nearby table) Ah, your personal effects. Well I don’t think you’ll be using a Lightsaber to eat. I’ll just keep this here with me. Now once you are through with your last meal, we’ll have a chat you and me.
Shaak Ti: I won’t talk.
General Grievous: Oh, you will. My tools are wonderful conversation pieces.
Two Battle Droids wheeled in a cart of instruments. They were old and fearsome looking things.
General Grievous: Like this one. A little reminder of my old life, a family heirloom of sorts. Do you like it?
Shaak Ti: Charming.
General Grievous: I once found a Tusken Raider here. We talked about this instrument for hours and hours. Then, its heart gave out I suppose.
Shaak Ti: You’re sick.
General Grievous: See, we’re talking already.
The large door slammed shut and was not opened again for some time.

Date Posted: 10/7/05 10:50am Subject: RE: A Grievous Crime (Drama -Clone Wars Era) Updated 10/7 Questions, Answers and Lies
Smoke rose up from the lower regions of the Works district on Coruscant. The largest of its buildings, a tall and slender tower, jutted out from the bowels of the surface. The docking bay within was occupied by only two figures. One in a heavy black robe and expensive slippers, the other in a golden armor-weave cape and costly dress boots.

Darth Sidious: General Grievous has been alerted to the coming Jedi rescue party. I am sending you to Tatooine.
Count Dooku: Milord, Grievous can handle the Jedi himself.
Darth Sidious: Most definitely. But I must make certain that Skywalker is left unharmed.
Count Dooku: I find your interest in that boy most awkward. What purpose could he serve in all this?
Darth Sidious: He has great powers my apprentice. Power that will be useful to our ends. But General Grievous seems intent on destroying the young Jedi. You are to make certain that Anakin Skywalker is protected from the General’s violent tendencies.
Count Dooku: And yet my violent acts on Geonosis seemed less severe.
Darth Sidious: Pain can be an effective tool to flush out valuable weaknesses. But the pain of death would take away all possibility….Unless it be that of someone he cares for.
Count Dooku: We know very little of the boy’s personal attachments. Moreover, no Jedi can taste any real human desire.
Darth Sidious: That is the second step to your duties. Find out all you can about our target’s personal life and attachments.
Count Dooku: On Tatooine?
Darth Sidious: Anakin Skywalker is native to the planet, Lord Tyranus. He must have some family there. Find out all that you can. The more we know of his family, the more we can tempt him to the Dark Side of the Force.
Count Dooku: As you wish.
--------------------
The Republic Gunship glided through the sandy clouds and dry air of Tatooine’s upper atmosphere. The ancient settlements and pyramids soon came into view.

Anakin: I never thought I would be coming back to this planet again.
Obi-Wan: Bring back memories?
Anakin: Some.
Obi-Wan: I know that tone Anakin. Don’t do anything rash. We’re here to rescue Master Ti not to get in touch with old friends.
Anakin: I know. But why don’t you understand that I have old friends? I’m not like other people. I had a life before this one.
Obi-Wan: I understand that Anakin. Perhaps if our mission is successful, we could take some time to find out about your friends and maybe even your mother.
Anakin: We don’t need to do that.
Obi-Wan: I’m sure you miss her Anakin. You never did tell me what you were doing here before the Battle of Geonosis.
Anakin: Nothing that was just me trying to figure out why I was dreaming about my mother.
Obi-Wan: Those dreams seemed to have stopped. Whatever you did here must have helped.
Anakin: One nightmare ends and another begins.
---------
General Grievous: I’m here to tell you Jedi, I’m impressed with your endurance.
Shaak Ti: You….are….a monster.
General Grievous: You want the pain to stop then?
Shaak Ti: Please.
General Grievous: Then tell me what you know about our project here?
Shaak Ti: A genetics experiment to clone Force-Sensitive and their powers.
General Grievous: (cough) I see? And how did you come by this intelligence?
Shaak Ti: Chancellor Palpatine.
General Grievous: I will inform Count Dooku of this. Your Chancellor may have to be dealt with.
Shaak Ti: Leave him alone. The Chancellor has nothing to do with you or the war.
General Grievous: Even so he is the beacon of the Republic. Such a blow would be crippling. Guard her! (Hack-cough)
Battle Droid: Yes sir.
Battle Droid #2: Sir, Count Dooku’s ship approaches.
-------
Count Dooku’s Solar Sailor landed gracefully near the pyramid and Dooku disembarked, greeted by a battalion of droids and Grievous.
General Grievous: Ah, Count Doookuuu, milord, welcome to Tatooine. I hope you had a pleasant (hack) journey.
Count Dooku: What have you found out from our guest?
General Grievous: She has some knowledge of the “Dark Serpent Project.”
Count Dooku: Not unexpected.
General Grievous: We should kill Chancellor Palpatine. His intelligence agents learn too much of our secret projects.
Count Dooku: No, the Chancellor is not a warrior. He stays clean of the conflict.
General Grievous: (Low Growl): I’ve been warning you about him before. If we want to triumph in this war, we must strike at Palpatine.
Count Dooku: Never ever presume to command me. Palpatine stays out of the conflict.
General Grievous: Very well.
---------
Obi-Wan: Commander, land near the far side of the building.
Commander: Yes General.
Anakin: I say we charge in.
Obi-Wan: No.
Anakin: Why not? They wouldn’t expect it.
Obi-Wan: This operation is most delicate.
Anakin: We don’t even know if Shaak Ti is alive.
Obi-Wan: Exactly why we must be cautious.
Anakin: But I’m “The Hero with No Fear.”
Obi-Wan: Pride like that is going to be the death of the Jedi Order.
