	Title: Pictures of You Author: Marani Beta: Timbolton Timeframe: post “Sacrifice” Characters: Luke + Mara Genre: Songfic Summary: 3 situations in which Luke remembers Mara Authors note: songfic, based on a German song by Leith al-Deen ~ Pictures of You ~ The night outside was cold and dark, just like the room he was in now. Exhausted and alone, he, Luke Skywalker, Grand Master of the New Jedi Order sat on the floor in the new Jedi Temple on Ossus and next to him lay the dead body of his wife Mara Jade, wrapped in a shroud. All day, he had been strong, for his son Ben, his sister Leia and for himself as people expressed their condolences. But now, at night, a wave of weakness and grief had swept over him and let him flee to the only one who could help understanding his feelings. So he had returned to the Great Hall and placed himself at Mara’s side. He had touched her again and again, her red hair, her pale face and her body. He had held her cold hand and cried in silence. When a cold breeze had touched his tear-stained face, he’d looked up and became aware of that this was going to be the last time they would be together. So he swore himself always to keep a picture of her in his mind… Pictures of you will outlast till the end of time Pictures of you will last till eternity And when we met again, you’ll be mine My words are wrapped in pain So they can't escape. And all you did, remain Let others passes by I cannot say, cannot forget. Oh no, no, no The way I see, the way I feel… ~~~ Weeks, months and years had passed but once more, Luke sat exhausted and alone in his Grand Master armchair, holding a holo of his deceased wife, smiling happily back at him and holding their infant son Ben in her arms. <Oh Mara, I miss you so much> A single tear escaped his watery eyes, gently rolled down his cheeks and dropped onto the holo. But it was soon followed by many more… Pictures of you will outlast till the end of time Pictures of you will last till eternity And when we met again, you’ll be mine Our love was always forceful Now and then and everywhere I could feel it in my head, Could feel it everywhere I cannot say, cannot forget Oh no, no, no the way I see, the way I feel… ~~~ And again, years and decades passed, and Luke became an old man who never got over the death of his beloved wife. Sure, he had rebuilt the Order a second time after Jacen’s disastrous sweeping blow and he’d made sure, that even without his mother, Ben had grown up to be a trustful and respected Jedi Knight. But every morning Luke woke up, he felt something missing. Today was different. He was still laying in bed in his private room in the Jedi Temple, but he felt death was waiting for him soon. So he closed his eyes and remembered the last strophe of the song which had became his constant company since Maras passing… Pictures of you will outlast till the end of time Pictures of you will last till eternity And now we’ll met again, you’ll be mine A thousand traces and thoughts not the smallest piece of you you make me tumble, make me shake the air is full of you I cannot say, cannot forget the way I see, the way I feel I cannot say, cannot forget the way I see, the way I feel.. And when Tionne came to bring Master Skywalker breakfast in bed, she only found his dead, but smiling body. 	Ooooh Marani... that was beautiful and poignant. The emotion you have here is realistic and painful. Luke remembering a "picture" of his deceased wife in his head is heartbreaking. I feel you could have expanded this a little more, but none the less it was beautiful. So he had returned to the Great Hall and placed himself at Mara’s side. He had touched her again and again, her red hair, her pale face and her body. He had held her cold hand and cried in silence. That line really tore me to pieces. 	Wow, Marani. Beautifully written and touching work. Sure, he had rebuilt the Order a second time after Jacen’s disastrous sweeping blow and he’d made sure, that even without his mother, Ben had grown up to be a trustful and respected Jedi Knight. But every morning Luke woke up, he felt something missing. This part offered a nice glimpse into how the situations in LOTF were resolved...but goodness it comes at a cost. -----signature----- May the Muse be with you.

	Ooh marani! that was absolutely positively beautiful girl!!!! You had me snifflin'...how poignat and touching and perfect... All day, he had been strong, for his son Ben, his sister Leia and for himself as people expressed their condolences. But now, at night, a wave of weakness and grief had swept over him and let him flee to the only one who could help understanding his feelings. That was so gorgeous. Mara was the only one who saw Luke as he really was...not the sterile, sombre Jedi Master, but as the playful, loving, compassionate farmboy. Man, girl...you have me all weepy and introspective. It was written in the middle of the night and I wanted to post it before I was going to bed... that's why it's so short.
