War & Peace is good. It's set around the war of 1812.

I do not know of any others about Somalia.
Good books about war:
The Killer Angels
by Michael Shaara. Historical fiction about the battle of Gettysburg.
War as I Knew it
by General Patton.

I can't think of any other books about the Somalia incident of the top of my head.
More great war books:
All Quite on the Western Front
- Erich Maria Remarque
Catch-22
- Joseph Heller

The Iliad
, by Homer
The Bible
, by God. Lots of mass destruction in that one.
Heroes Die
and
Blade of Tyshalle
, by Matthew Woodring Stover. Even more violence than the Bible.
The Naval War of 1812
, by Teddy Roosevelt. Hardly a page-turner, but a great book nonetheless.
The Art of Warfare
, by Sun Tzu. Learn to subtly kick your enemies' ass.
On War
, by Karl von Clausewitz. Or you can just drop the hammer on them.
The Worm Ourobouros
, by I forget. Must be read to be believed.

"Star Wars" by George Lucas (ghost written by Alan Dean Foster, I believe). It's quite the little romp. They should make it into a movie.
Amazing.

Bravo Two Zero
by Andy McNab
The story of eight British SAS troops who went behind the lines in Iraq. Four became POWs, three were killed, and one made it out.
The story is told very matter-of-factly, since it doesn't need to play up on any sort of danger. What those men went through was more than enough.

Good gravy, how could I forget [i]Catch-22[/b]. That was the best book written in the 20th century. I think I'll go read it right now. Then I'll call my mom.
