Vaders respect for Solo

I've always been intrigued by the Vader line in ESB. The one where he is overseeing the carbon freeze chamber ahead of Lukes arrival and is told 'you put him in there it might kill him'... He obviously doesn't want this to happen so he decides to test it.
Why oh why does he say 'We will test it, on Captain Solo'? Why not plain old Solo? I always thought of it as Vader being respectful of his rank ..?
any suggestions?

Vader is of the military mindset, and he deals with ppl of rank all the time. It may just be habit.

I don't think he respected him....at all, this is based on him using Han as a guinea pig.
Not to mention Han was shagging his daughter

He is used to being amongst military officers and regards authority as important so he tends to address people by rank. I doubt he had any respect for Solo.

I think Vader just is used to being formal after being in a military atmosphere for so long. Vader definatly doesn't respect him.

Because it's incredibly cool to still use titles and stuff while carrying out evil plots.

I think it is just a part of Vader's formality and coldness.

I always saw it as the first chink of light penetrating Vaders black, black soul...
Oh and Obi_Frans...
In what way would Han 'shagging' the daughter that Vader doesn't know that he has, affect things?!

Bear in mind Solo was an imperial recruit as well , may have been a Captain when he was in their service

It's simply a title granted by the fact that Han owns and runs his own ship. Much like in Pirates of the Carribean when they refer to Johnny Depp as "Captain" Jack Sparrow. It's not a military rank, it's simply because he controls and runs his own ship that it's a given that he's a captain.

Technically speaking, Solo is apart of the rebellion so Captain is now a military rank.
Plus I would imagine that from Vader's point of view, the rebellion is not a real army...he sees them as brigandes, terrorists, basically upstarts who need to be put in their place. The manner in which Lando is treated is an example; he's told what to do and how to do it by Vader.
