(They have this thread in 3SA and someone posted it before the spoiler policy expired, so I thought I could create a thread again for a change wink )

What scenes, lines and other things changed for you after seeing RotS?

"If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine" really has meaning now.

Vader looking between Palpatine and Luke has multiple new meanings now. First the very similar moment with Mace, and the whole new thoughts about Padme, not only his mother.

And one of my favorites: "How uncivilized" tongue

'Much anger in him. Like his father.'

Understatement of the decade.

'You, like your father, are now...MINE.'

Palpatine seems to be trying to convert Luke through anger, whereas he (successfully) converted Anakin through fear. Just interesting that Palpatine can see how to utilise any negative emotion for his own purposes.

Seeing Darth Vader for the first time in IV. I still was thinking about the fact he wanted his wife, mother of Luke and Leia, alive by going to the dark side, look where it took him. Just heartbreaking, only a tool of Sidious he has become.

I still hoped he would turn back to the light side at the beginning, how stupid can I be?! You have seen this film many, many times and still hope it changes....
Very dramatic!

Good one! Never thought of that before (and didn't read it in the 3SA thread two days ago).

Also from Yoda:
"Do not underestimate the powers of the Emperor"
who ever thought Yoda spoke from first-hand experience? shock

I enjoyed greatly the parallels between the Dooku/Anakin fight as Palpy was sitting as a "prisoner" on the throne chair...just like he was sitting on a throne chair when Luke/Vader were fighting.

I won't be able to see Vader from the Eps4,5,6 in the same light again, the emotion Vader displayed while suited up at the end of ROTS was unsettling and incongruent with all we know of him starting in ANH.

Lucas did a nice job of making Vader a sympathetic character and showing has a victim of Sidious as opposed to a person out for power for the sake of power.

Everything...

But especially Vader: from one-dimensional villain to tragic figure, who does everything wrong, only from the intention of doing good.

The scene where Ben gives Luke the lightsaber is weirder. Now you know that the saber has spilled the blood of innocent children and good Jedi, and was actively used by a Dark Lord of the Sith.

Now it's a little unsettling to see Luke wave it around like a cool toy.

VADER! Is he to be feared now? NO! I feel sorry for him and he comes off a power hungry loser and lost it all cause he wants power! Not just to save those the die but power. he wanted to be a master, the greatest jedi ever and so on.

Yoda in TESB looks like he has lost his mind spending 23 years on Dagobah.

You feel sorry for Bail when Alderaan gets blown up.

I can't think of any more right now, I have only watched an hour od ANH so far. I'll post back when I finish the OT again.

The scene of Luke watching the twin suns set. I don't know why but ever since Owen did the same thing in ROTS I love that scene even more now.

Also all the point of views that were expressed in ROTS and how it all tied in with the OT.

The Emperor is evil from Kenobi's POV.
The Jedi are evil from Skywalker's POV.

THere were a few other instances but i can'trecall them right now.

I wonder how much time was poured into making sure that every single aspect the the CT and the PT would be tied into each other. They did a nice job.

I have a question and I cant find a good thread for it so here I go--

I have seen the OT and PT.... I grew up watching the OT but I still have questions.... in ESB the emperor says to vader that luke is anakins son...I understand that its believed anakin died when he became Vader, but really did he? Why would the emperor phrase it that way...hes Vaders son...even Palaptine knew that.....

At the end of ROTS anakin is both himself and Vader.... I cant seem to concieve how he is no longer anakin... I have always believed anakin is vader is anakin... do I make any sense?

I guess the emperors line just REALLY bothers me

In ROTS, once Palpy names Anakin "Darth Vader" he never refers to him as Anakin again.

When he refers to Anakin to a 3rd party in ROTS, he refers to him as Darth Vader.

What better way to brainwash somebody than to rename them and no longer acknowledge the former identity? By disavowing Anakin's identity, he promotes the Vader identity within Anakin's own mind and further reinforces the notion that Anakis is a new creation.

This is typical, real-world psychology.

and in turn make it seem as though Luke has no relation to Vader. Palpy knows Anakin does everything for those close to him. Better not give im idead about "his son".

another small thing:
now we know Vader (and the troops before him) entered from the hangar of the Tantive IV. It's seen in RotS, but in ANH there is only smoke.

You definitely notice the subtlety of Alec Guiness' performance, the regret in his face at having failed in training Anakin. Brilliant work.
