Simple poll probably won't be open long, but do you think Palpatine died or did he use his powers to somehow escape death? The man was a Sith Lord and and to an extent even Lord Vader escaped death and came as a ghost. Of course that begs the question...define death.

Yeah Luke did fall down a giant chasm similiar to Palpatine but the DS did blow up minutes later. Of course its possible Palpatine had a secret exit there. I mean why the hell would you have a giant pit in your throne room that you can fall down? There has got to be more to that pit than meets the eye.

I imagine he had a secret exit in the chasm just in case. The explosion was a giant fog machine sorta like in Wizard of Oz.
