I was 7 when SW came out and I remember being shocked and scared when I 1st saw 3PO on the cover of LIFE I think it was. a big picture of his face of the cover of that big mag, with his eyes lit up. I thought he was a bad guy, I remember my mom had to calm me down, man what a puss I was back then.

I also called lightsabers life savers. And I always, always thought that C3PO and R2D2 were THE main characters of Star Wars. I guess in a way, they kind of are. I remember my older brother watching Empire on TV. I remember thinking how long and boring that 'snow movie' was. And I remember seeing Jedi during its theatrical run when I was only 3. The only scene I remember was where Anakin takes the mask off. It SCARED me!!

I argued with my family for hours that the stormtroopers were robots. I was so sure that I was right.

Here's one I just remembered: When the droids are in the escape pod in ANH,I thought C-3PO said "I hope there's a bathroom in here" instead of "The damage isn't as bad as it is out there."

I also mentioned this on the Collecting board a few times, but since this is about SW misconceptions,I'll mention it here: I thought the reason the original Jabba the Hutt toy had it where you could put figures in Jabba's dias was becuase he tortured his enemies by subjecting them to his bodily smells and wastes. If that was Kenner's reasoning, then they were SICK. Or maybe it was just me.

Two words: Dark Invader. Thought that was Darth Vaders real name.

"I remember thinking that Oola - the dancer at Jabba's palace - fell into the hole in the floor, and then was turned into a frog. Then Jabba ate her."

I remember that one too, glad I wasn't the only one.

befor I saw SW my friends were telling me about it and I though Han's name was Pawn Solo!

when Luke said "that's what you said when Biggs and rank left" I thought Biggs was lukes older brother who left luke to join the war.

whenI was really young I thought that Star Wars was a collection of cheap-o Scifi films (what was I thinking?)

Befor I saw the film someone told me that the light saber could penitrate the walls in the trash smasher.

another one:

in ESB when the imperials are dumping the garbage leia says they'll float away with the rest of the garbage I thought the trash floating in space was all the bounty hunters in there ships but Boba Fett was the only one who noticed the Falcon.

I also thought that obi-wan disapeared just as Vader swung and that he was behind the door or something.

I remember thinking that Lando said in the Battle of Endor.

"You've gotta get some reading on the shield, I'm bored now."

I saw ANH (original release) when I was very very young, at the drive-in theatre. The only thing I remembered about it was Leia in hologram form. I referred to her for awhile as "the ghost lady" and I thought she was trapped in another dimension. When she bends over, I thought she was trying to escape by unlocking a little door.

About a year later, I got the story on tape for Christmas and listened to it endlessly. (it certainly cleared up a few things grin )

For ESB, the whole "I am your father"... I didn't buy for a minute! Because Ben Kenobi had told Luke all about his father, and Good ol' Ben would never lie, of course. So, "don't fall for Vader's trap, Luke!!!"

Gee -- how naive can you get??! blush

I only first saw SW in the form of the SEs and I was 10 I think. We actually got to the cinema maybe 5 mins late but the crawl said Episode IV and I thought NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I'VE MISSED THE FIRST THREE!!!!!!!!!!!!! How wrong was I?

Wow I like that thing about Vader being jealous of the falcon's speed.

I just remembered a whole lot more.

I had heard Vader was Luke's dad before I saw any of the films and so when Obi-Wan told Luke Vader killed his dad I was like....what? Eh? Come again?

I also thought Han was a 'scruffy looking nerve herter', and this is how I originally remember the ESB conversation 'tween Vader and Palpy:

'There is a new enemy, Luke Skywalker. It would destroy us'. The Emperor sounded rather stupid to me then.

I misheard a lot of the lines and only realised my mistakes after the 985th time watching it on video.

I too, like many, thought Obi-Wan was using Luke's lightsaber to dish out much of the deeds, and thought it lost on the Death Star.

Oh here's a good one: even before I saw Star Wars, I saw a trailer for the trilogy's remastered videos on some other Fox video, and when they showed the bit about ESB where Han is getting carbon frozen, when he looks up defiantly and the smoke comes up, it disappears to show Vader's face and so I thought Han was Vader!!!!

There's more, but I can't remember.

I thought that Storm Troopers were cyborgs, like Vader (why else were they wearing scary plastic uniforms?) I also refused to believe my dad that Leia and Luke were siblings, until I saw ROTJ a year or so later.

Just think Anikin e, kids today the same age as you were then are going to KNOW that those same "stormtrooper" type charactors are going to be clones inside. I wonder what would happen if we started cloning people. Wouldn't those people (the clones) have the same rights as us? I wonder if GL doesn't become known for starting the 1st anti-clone sterotype, paveing the way for future racism in the minds of our youth... Nah!!
