I've decided to dust off the Hermoine Granger costume project again. My robe is just too beautiful to keep in the closet!

I made a school robe without any badges though, but I love it! I wear it all the time
The thing that I don't like about it is that it looks like snape's when you're walking.

Mine flows very nicely....but I'll be needing a little bit of a heel on my shoes so it doesn't drag on the floor.

I've been done this costume for quite a while but I forgot about this thread so I didn't post the pics before. Anyway here's my Slytherin costume:

Wow! That's a good costume! Good job!
My cloak is big and flowy too.
It's cool if you want to use it for other things but a school robe isn't
that
big.

Ok here are the bought parts: the sweater, the white collared shirt underneath, and scarf.
I made the skirt, the cloak, the tie (sewed each strip of fabric together and then made the tie).
I really recommend wizarduniforms.com for the sweater. I love mine! Great quality and a decent price. the skirt is not totally accurate but that doesn't bother me. It more like a kilt since it wraps to close and only has the pleats in the back and not around the entire thing like the film version. Making the tie was a chore and a half. But I'm pleased with how it turned out since I made it back when not many people were selling them online and I couldn't easily get one. I bought the scarf before I knew how to knit. Now that I know I would probably try my hand at it if I didn't have one already.
A tip I would pass on is making a holder inside your cloak to carry your wand in. I find this really useful so that I don't have to have it in my hands at all times.

iycis, what type of collar shirt was the one you bought?
1. Where did you get it? 2. What brand was it? 3. What was it made of? (in the movie their collars and shirts look kinda stiff to me...). By the way, it is an awesome costume. But I still don't get how you made the tie, either.

I have a thought on the tie, it's just a thought remember.
First you get the colors you want, should be pretty easy.
Then cut them out in thick lines, anyway you want them, and then sew them together, and fold.
Something like that...... *Has no idea*

If you buy a dress shirt, the collar
will
be fairly stiff. That's just the way they're made. I know several people who use short-sleeve shirts under their sweaters, to cut down on how hot the costume gets with all the layers.
If you need a tie pattern, try
Simplicity 5308
. There's a tie included as one of the accessories.

I like the pattern.
Heres the pattern that I used for the Cloak:
I used the blue cloak, very good.
Anyone use a different one?

I know that there are a few stores that sell the Gryffindor tie, like J Crew, Brooks Brothers, etc. They're not available on the websites though, so you'd have to go there yourself. My scarf was handknit, though.
