If you’re new to this club, you may have noticed the term “Wilhelmus,” along with the phrase “All hail Wilhelmus,” thrown around rather freely. This may make no sense, so as president, I felt it my job to illuminate the uninitiated. Here is the story as I have lived it:
Not so long ago, in a galaxy somewhat similar to ours, a group of friends, many of whom were members of the E’ville Jedi, began meeting once per month to play Star Wars games of all sorts. Early on, the group recognized the innate coolness of one of its member’s last names: that of former E’ville Jedi President/CR Scott Wilhelmus. So, the gaming group was officially dubbed the Knights Wilhelmus. Soon, with years of Latin training behind my belt, I recognized that “Wilhelmus” works well in almost any situation as an adjective placed after a noun, such as Meeting Wilhelmus, Movie Wilhelmus, etc. This joke continued for quite sometime. My room at C3, which I shared with Scott, became the Room Wilhelmus, and so forth. Then, shortly before the premiere of RotS, I shared this joke on these very boards. Michael, filled with the Spirit Wilhelmus, suggested that “Wilhelmus” should become like “Caesar”: a name that becomes a title. He decreed that the President/CR should henceforth be known as the Grand Wilhelmus, and all that would follow Scott in this position would inherit this title. At the midnight showing of RotS, it was decided that all E’ville Jedi should put the phrase All hail Wilhelmus in their sig, and it was so.
Now young ones, you have been initiated into the Story Wilhelmus. You must now go forth and adopt our ritual, and begin writing your own Chapter Wilhelmus of this great tale.
All hail Wilhelmus!!!
