So with the majority of the information coming in saying that C4 30th Anniversary is going to happen, and with recent posts casting doubt on Gen Con running it and Indy hosting, I thought we could consolidate and put together a fan based tally of where (and why) the next celebration should be held. Who knows, maybe those in power could be swayed if the fans have a clear favorite.
My first choice would be San Diego. A VERY nice and large convention center, many hotels within easy walking distance, nice weather, good food, and a better chance of getting Lucasarts/film people there since it is close to ILM and the Ranch
Anyways...I liked Indy, thought the convention center was nice, smaller than some of the others that I had been to, but nice. If the expected turnout is lower, say 20,000 than Indy again would not be too bad. My caveat to that is if there is construction going on with the dome then don't risk having congestion and crowds dealing with the contruction.

Well, from what I hear the new DC Convention Center is something incredible! And as for hotels, you have the Metro to whisk you from all the way out in the suburbs of MD and VA, so finding a room and for a great price, would be very easy and not having to pay the outrageous cab prices.

Toronto! If Hayden likes it here, it should be good for all! ... but no Americans would even bother coming.
Otherwise Indy is fine. It's dead center, easier access for everyone.

I vote for Washington DC. Public transportation is great and the convention center is big and new.

As long as it's a central location I really don't care. Hopefully they will have mercy on those of us who don't live on one coast or the other.

As far as dead-centeredness, I'd have to go Saint Louis, and not just because I live here (I won't be by then). As others have pointed out, it handled the Final Four like it was nothing, which involved more people. It is a puddle-hop away from O'Hare, which puts it at a similar amount of layover work as Indy.
The bad side is, STL isn't real centralized, so you can't really walk to the other fun places...
You know what, nevermind.
I hope they use Indy again. I like strolling to the bar and staggering to bed.

RE: Where to hold C4 poll
i live in san diego, and as cool as our convention center is, with lots of downtown hotels (and restaurants and a ballpark) and other cool attractions for out-of-towners to see, i'd rather it be somewhere else...
why?
* part of Indy's hosting was due to location: Indy was a decent driving distance for a fair amount of the eastern side of the US, from all directions. more fans within driving distance means more fans can show up. no one can drive to San Diego from the west... and it's a long drive for anyone outside of southern california.
* cost. flights to indy aren't cheap.. neither are flights to san diego (unless you fly Southwest). hotel costs in the downtown area are pretty steep. heck, gas costs $2.60/gallon here right now. we do have a decent public transit system connecting downtown to the next major area of hotels, in mission valley. the indianapolis convention center is probably a lot cheaper to get than the san diego convention center.
* we get comic-con every year and star wars is a big part of that, since 1976. while i'd love a second big convention here in my hometown, i'd like to be fair to those cities that don't have a world-class convention in the genre...
so my vote goes to someplace like St. Louis or Kansas City or Las Vegas.

RE: Where to hold C4 poll
I am going to the CD convention center in late october early november for a neuroscience meeting. I have heard good things about it, but am curious as to the hotel situation is. San diego almost all of the hotels in and around the gaslamp district were no more than a 10 minute walk to the con center.
Like I said Indy would be fine again, especially with fewer people, and some space rearrangments.
One other possibility- Orlando. They have a huge convention center, tons of hotels, Star Tours is there, plus Lucas always seems to pop up at Disney world once a year. I live in Fl so while I would like to see other places it is a decent suggestion.

RE: Where to hold C4 poll
My biggest concerns are: Can the city handle the size of the event, but without being a city that is already busy with other stuff. For these reasons I'd rule out places like Chicago, Las Vegas, Orlando, and DC. It's hard enough dealing with an airport packed with Star Wars folks. Why add to it by making us go to a city that's already alwasy packed with tourists and travelers. Plus, I don't want to have any casinos or other attractions potentially distracting from Star Wars and the other fans.
I also don't like the idea of it being on either coast. It should be somewhere in the middle to allow folks from anyway fairly equal opportunity to drive.
My choices would be:
KC (hey, I'm biased)
St. Louis
Indy
Denver
I wonder if Minneapolis has a convention center that could handle it. But knowing our luck the weather would REALLY suck there.

Somewhere in the northeast or mid atlantic preferably... I don't fly, at all (Severe fear of it unfortunatley), so anywhere further then Indianapolis is out of the question, the car ride was insanely long as it was.

NOT Denver. I HATE that city with a passion. It's a horrible city. No offence to people who live there and can somehow navigate it, but I am scarred from my experiences trying to figure out how to navigate the place. It's a zoo.
I like Indy a lot. I liked the city, the atmosphere...why wouldn't they have it there again?
I also like DC because it's a great city, and pretty close to me, but I understand why it wouldn't be a great choice.

What about Atlanta, GA? The only significant con that we have all year is Dragon Con in September and it’s always a big deal. It would be great to have another big con here in the spring.

My vote is for Indy! I have a very big fear of flying and we couldn't do it with our family of 5. Indy's convention center was easy to get to even with staying on the outskirts. I just really like Indy.
