Hello people. Just to let you know that a new Star Wars fanfilm is up. It is called Crimson Contention IV: Spirit of Darkness. It is a serious fanfilm that has taken 3 years to make and is a feature length movie. Go to the website which is now up and running. The link is:

I see you're planning on doing a trilogy.. but you're also starting with IV.
Is this just a nod to Lucas, or are there larger plans?

The teaser's and movie are all in Quicktime and all can be saved. Remember, the movie is 320mb so depending on what connection you have, this could take a while. Enjoy!

Would it have killed you to put something about the story in the trailer? I mean, a teaser is one thing, but a trailer should have some content besides just the visuals, IMHO.
As it is, the actual movie is gigantic, and I'm not sure if it's worth my time based on the trailer. It looks good, but that doesn't mean your talent can act, your story interests me, your sound is mixed well enough to be audible, and I won't be disappointed after I've watched it all. These are some very common pitfalls of the fan film world, and some of them--like untalented actors and badly mixed sound--will ruin a fan film for me, even make me turn it off in the middle...or before the middle. They're just unwatchable. Never mind whether or not the story is one that I would care about.
I realize that's kinna harsh for a film I haven't even seen yet, but having watched the trailer, well...I can't decide. If the film itself were smaller or if the trailer gave me more information, I might have more confidence that the long DL is worth it...
Just sayin'...

I've watched about half of it, and I'm not sure if I want to watch the rest. The story is very interesting, yes, and I love the feel of it, and the look, and couldn't help but laugh at all the puppets and masks, but it's too long for what it is.
It started off fine, but every single moment of the story went on for far too long. The fight at the begining, the many slow conversations, etc... are just too long. It's too slow for me. Sorry, but that's my two cents. I'll try to watch the rest though.
I think it's just mainly a problem with the script. Even though I like the story idea, and at times I like where it's headed, the script seems weak, and many times you just wonder why they said this, or that, and it goes on for way too long. The film is well made though. A lot of times I was amazed by the editing, the cinematorgraphy, and how well sound and music is used.

You've got some very nice work there, Qbase. I love the stills on the site!
As for the film itself, I think you could have made it about half as long as it was. I liked the locations and cinematography, and I thought the amount of animation that was used was quite good - it wasn't just a few shots and yet it wasn't over the top. The lightsaber cores were a bit too wide IMHO, and I would have liked to see a little more variation in the fighting styles portrayed in your film.
All in all I think you have put some really nice stuff together. My biggest comment on the film was the length, and I think if you were to cut the time by at least 1/4 it would really help tie everything together. Keep up the good work and good luck on the other movies!

Hello everyone, I'm new to the forums although not to fanfilms themselves so....HI
This film was quiet the surprise, just sought of popped up out of nowhere.
The film I must say felt a bit like a cross between Star Wars and fantasy, with the skeletons, and I felt the general robot shouldn't really need to intimidate his minion droid, I mean they are droids not humans.
As the others have said its way to long, you could really cut out a fair bit of pointless walking around from the movie, it would also make it flow alot better.
I'm not sure I entirley caught the story, I think if I remember correctly it says somthing about it being 200 years after yavin which makes it seem odd that they would be using vintage starships, surely somone would have created some new ones by then.
Some of the acting was good some of it not so good, I'm not sure whats with the aprentices voice, sounds like he needs a lozenge.
You've got some great locations and some great animation here (and some not so great), I think with a bit more time in the editing room this film could become alot better.
Overall a good fanfilm, Defintelly above the par, makes for a nice change from your everyday run of the mill forest bash (even though it had a forest bash), Good luck with the sequels don't give up, I'm sure if your first film is this good the sequels at least visual wise can only get better.

Hello people,
I appreciate all your comments. I know fanfilms are not to everyone's tastes, but the idea is to have fun and not to take it as serious as some people do.
Firstly we are not actor's. We try to the best of our ability and we know our limitations. We tried to make it as convincing as possible.
My friend Julian, the brains behind this, has said that this being our first film he intended it to have a kind of gritty B-movie feel to it which is why it has longer slower parts. The pace does pick up later on.
I am glad a lot of you like the cinematography, editing and music which is pleasing to hear.
The film is long, but it something we wanted to do. I can also understand about condensing it.
All your comments are appreciated and we take the positive from that. You either like it or you don't. It's as simple as that. We cannot please everyone but I feel we did the best we could with the time, money (what money!) we had. Enjoy!
