Need a score?
Hey, does anyone have any short fanfilms that could use some original music? I'm interested in composing, but haven't really done anything yet and would like some experience. No promises that it'll be good or that you'll want to use it, but here's a short sample I threw together (as shown by the weird timing issues for the first thirty seconds or so)

I'd also appreciate any advice or tips on composing for movies.

RE: Need a score?
Hey, that's not bad. I don't think Im going to be doing any original music for my fan film project, though.
However, Im sure to have projects down the road that Ill want a score for, if you'll still be looking for exposure/experience projects.

I don't really need a composer, I need samples. Of course the old problem is the cheap/free ones sound terrible, and the good orchestral stuff is - somewhat expensive. I've managed with some SAM Horns demo stuff and what not... but there is a distinct lack of string sections when you just use free horn samples.

I agree, I think I am using an all Star Wars score, but I might be able to use something for the caves of Ilum...anyway, great work!

- may I ask what software was used to create that score? It was very well done IMHO.
Keep up the good work!

Very impressive, I'm sure you have some nice work. I'm working on throwing together a summer project so I don't really have a film yet... But still, that is very impressive work and I'd bet it would sound excellent in a film. I'd also like to know which program it was thrown together in. Again, very nice work.

RE: Need a score?
It's always great to have original music in fanfilms. Much as I love the John Williams scores, an original is ALWAYS better, in my opinion - even if it isn't very good. Why? Because the music was written for the film, not recycled. Using the Williams scores is like ripping shots from the Star Wars DVDs rather than creating your own.

Best thing to do is Google 'free loops' and such. Also try the sites for music magazines, such as Computer Music, Future Sounds and others that I can't think of off the top of my head.
I use FL Studio which can do a fair orchestra reproduction. I've had two songs used, one in a short, other in a DVD... Though they weren't the orchestral stuff.
