(Retitling thread to reflect new existence as a more open project and discussion of the era; original post within initial ( now outdated) timeline info follows)

Since we're starting to get product anouncements for the post-ROTS era, I thought it prudent to begin preliminary tracking of sources and events for this follow-up to the Ultimate AOTC & the CW Timeline, even though it will be somewhat bare for a bit.

I'm going to define the scope of this project, for now, as covering all events from the end of the Clone Wars (which I presume will be the Battle of Coruscant; so portions of ROTS will be covered here) up tp about 11 years BBY, which will exclude the majority of the Droids and Ewok material, as well as the startings of the Han Solo Trilogy (which, in general, sorta marks the begining of Rebellion) so that way this can stay concentrated on newer material instead of on overlapping existing material in a more heavily explored timeframe (ie: X-Wing, etc).

However, that range will be flexible depending on what other further products come out in the future (ie: when the TV shows are set, etc), so it's not locked in stone yet.

So, to start off with, I'll post the initial source listings I took based upon the TF.N Timeline (feel free to add or suggest correctiosn to it). For now, I'm using BBY dating but that will get converted to (or at the very least, co-stamped) ABC dating.

ABC= After the Battle of Coruscant
BBY= Before the Battle of Yavin

When 2ndQuest gets bored, we get datafed the goodies. batting

I'll look forward to this period of history. It has potential, what with all the many dark siders Palpatine had who could have originated from anywhere, and hopefully, some resentful Bandomeer castouts.

Incidentally, we already know from a Rostoni comment that Dark Lords will start inside ROTS, not just from this recent James interview.

2nd Quest, Droids takes place during the 19 - 11 BBY period, but Ewoks is actually set during the Era of Rebellion (based on informationg in SW Galaxies).

We've got it on rather good authority now (i.e., the Official Site's new interview with Mr.-Half-a-McKinney Himself) that Dark Lord will be covering a span of time prior to Episode III, and up to around two months thereafter. So maybe tack that one up on the chart as coming before the flick, or at least the first sections of it, à la the disparate Republic Commando levels.

(And incidentally I'd been planning on privately submitting a proposal to you via e-mail about a possible joint "Purge Years" project I've been mulling over, owing to your noted interest in related threads...something I'd in fact *begun* years earlier prior to TPM, and have recently kick-started again. I'll be in touch.)

The Dagobah section actually takes place at 29 BBY, according to Galaxy of Fear. Don't let the stranded explorer's imaginings of crisises and war in the Republic mislead you--the introductory texts explains that Republic officials merely misfiled the information regarding the survey ship, and consequently, the mission was lost and forgotten.

The Droids saga starts in 18 BBY, according to the Essential Chronology. Since the cartoon show is now locked at 15 BBY, and the Dark Horse comics start after that, then by process of elimination we can say that the Star comics begin in 18 BBY.

Aye, the Droids cartoon is at 15 BBY. I stated it takes place during the 19 - 11 year BBY period in stating my point that while the droids cartoon would fit the parameters of your timeline, the Ewoks cartoon would most certainly not.

>>The Dagobah section actually takes place at 29 BBY, according to Galaxy of Fear.<<

So the 29 BBY placement is interpretated in the Dagobah text itself, or is there a retcon in GOF?

Glancing over the Dagobah section in Illustrated SW, there isn't much of a locked-down dating for this.

The original Dagobah exploratory expedition occurred around 37 BBY or thereabouts; Halka Four-Den's later mission wasn't firmly timestamped in the text -- only that the mission was sent out right as "the Old Republic's government began to crumble," or words to that effect.

I might place the datelock *downward* slightly, owing to the Separatist crisis not kicking into overdrive until a couple of years pre-AOTC (per new information from Labyrinth of Evil), but...I suppose it works. As long as one stretches and "embroiders" a few early data-cues to mate with the later ones.

i assume that that is ur estimation of where they take place because i havent seen these stories given placements on any official timeline?

>So the 29 BBY placement is interpretated in the Dagobah text itself, or is there a retcon in GOF? <

Galaxy of Fear #12 date locked the piece, by stating that Dagobah was "discovered" (though rediscovered is more likely) "almost" fourty years before the book (which is set 1 ABY), making it approximatily 37-39 BBY. The book's back cover states that the survey team (from TISWU) landed on Dagobah thirty years before, making it 29 BBY.

Another important reason for placing all of these events before ROTS is that the servey team's survivors and children turned to cannibalisim, and remained on Dagobah for almost thirty years. If Yoda had been on Dagobah when this had happened, surely he would have helped them. As it is, the children's parents were all dead when he arrived, and the only home they knew was on Dagobah, so there was little he could do to help.

"How we feeling, Captain?"

"Not too good. I...I feel so weak."

"We can't hold out much longer."

"Listen...chaps...there's still a chance. I'm...done for, I've...got a gammy leg and I'm going fast; I'll never get through. But...some of you might. So...you'd better eat me."

"Eat you, sir?"

"Yes. Eat me."

"Iiuuhh! With a gammy leg?"

"You needn't eat the leg, Thompson -- there's still plenty of good meat. Look at that arm!"

"It's not just the leg, sir..."

"What do you mean?"

"Well, sir...it's just that -- "

"Why don't you want to eat me?"

"...I'd rather eat Johnson, sir!"

"So would I, sir."

"I see."

"Then that's decided...everyone's gonna eat me!"

"Uh, well..."

"What, sir?"

"Go ahead, please, but I won't -- "

"Oh nonsense, sir -- you're starving! Tuck in!"

"No, no, it's not that."

"What's the matter with Johnson, sir?"

"Well, he's not kosher."

"That depends how we kill him, sir."

"Yes, that's true. But to be perfectly frank I...I like my meat a little more lean. I'd rather eat Hodges."

"Oh well, all right."

"I still prefer Johnson."

"I wish you'd all stop bickering and eat me."

"Look, I tell you what...those who want to can eat Johnson. And you, sir, can have my leg. And we make some stock from the Captain, and then we'll have Johnson cold for supper."

From my own timeline (other things not yet added...note, I also have some Wizards Planet Hoppers vignettes listed (the Kessel ones) but I don't have all of my footnotes in order on those ones):

19 years BBY - The Star Wars Sourcebook: The Promotion of Lieutenant Veers (pg. 67)*

19 years BBY - The Star Wars Sourcebook: The Shame of Seggor Tels (pg. 78)**

18 years BBY - Heir to the Empire Sourcebook: Scouting Report SS, Imperial Year One (pg. 82)***

16 years BBY - Droids # 1: The Destroyer
Droids # 2: The Ultimate Weapon
Droids # 3: The Scarlet Pirate
Droids # 4: Lost in Time (pg. 1 – 9)
Ewoks # 10: Lost in Time (pg. 17 – 23)
Droids # 5: Separated

* The events of this vignette occurred soon after Veers graduated from the Academy. Veers was 41 at the time of A New Hope, and 22 here, thus cementing its placement.

** This vignette details how Quarren Seggor Tels lowered the planetary shields of Mon Calamari, and let the Imperials invade. Though we don’t yet know exactly when this happened, my guess is that it was soon after Palpatine declared himself Emperor.

*** The Empire is referred to as being “barely a year old.”
