Writer: John Ostrander
Cover Artist: Luke Ross
Penciller: Luke Ross
Colorist: Jason Keith
Genre: Science-Fiction, Star Wars
Palpatine calls a meeting of his bravest, wisest, and most influential military officers in order to introduce them to his new right-hand man, Darth Vader!
The new Emperor lays out his plans for his Empire, and those who have other ideas are dealt a swift lesson by Vader's blade. But one Captain wants nothing to do with the new government, and plans his defection. But what do you do when the Dark Lord of the Sith is determined to stop you?
This issue marks Vader's first appearance in Star Wars continuity since his "introduction" in Revenge of the Sith! And, long-time readers of Republic will see a plot come full circle in a most unexpected manner!
Definately sounds interesting. But if this is Vader's firts appearence in continuity sinece his "intro" in ROTS as they say, then that musht mean that he isn't in Republic #78 & #79
The cover art is beutiful.

Very possible, and they left it very nebulos wether this guy survives in it. Chances are it is him. So I guess we'll see him escape to the early stages of the rebellion. My guess is seeking sanctuary on Alderaan or Challindra.

No---Dodonna was a loyal Imperial for quite some time. Palps award him Commenor's moon Brelor for his service. He pioneered TIE tactics. Much later, did he defect.
Now, let the repetitive strong-arming begin. That's all he'll ever be: intimidation, and quiet anguish. This is why Empire is cancelled; it'd have been too similar to this period, both Vadering and rebellion.

...holy!
I'd almost forgotten that RotS mean we'll start seeing Vader around the place!
I hope they do him justice.

Yeah, it's definitly Autem. Randy Stradley said this issue will be collected with #46-48.

John also added this in his A&A thread:
"Yes, SWR will use Sagoro Autem as our focus. While there WILL be tie-ins to HONOR AND DUTY, it's meant to also to b stand alone. In other words, if you don't have/can't find the other arc -- or didn't like it -- don't worry; everything you need to enjoy SWR 80 should be in that issue. I can see why Randy wants to gather it with H&D -- it allows for that arc to be gathered into a TPB. But SWR 80 is definitely set post Ep III.
And there are some other known characters in it. "

While a great supporting character in Catspaw, can we decide which of his 3 spelt names are correct? It had me confused.

I wonder if he will know that Vader is Anakin... that could potentially save his life...

not necessarily. john ostrander said republic issues up to #83 will be taking place during the events of RotS.
we may see anakin - but vader in his suit may not exist yet.
and i think those issues will have more to do with quinlan and the gang than anakin and obi-wan -- but i could be wrong.
