Thought I'd do something a little different.

Most of us, are, I think, getting a little sick of hearing author bashing. So I thought I'd do this, instead.

I'm saying thank you. Everyone who posts in this thread gets to say thank you to an author, artist, whomever. There is NO bashing allowed on this thread. In fact, you're not allowed to post unless you're saying thank you. You can post as many thank you's as you want, as they come to you.

Thank you, Timothy Zahn, for starting all this so well. No matter how much things have changed, you were the one that got most of us hooked.

- Keralys

Thank you, Michael A. Stackpole, for reviving Rogue Squadron. Without you pilots would be neglected side characters.

Aslo, thank you Aaron Allston for making the Wraiths. They are one of the best sets of author created characters in existence.

Thank you, Matthew Stover, for giving me 3 of my favorite Star Wars novels. Thank you for paying attention to character and bringing a very "literary" approach to what tends to be a more shallow, action-driven series. I can only hope more authors like you will come to the Star Wars Universe. Please don't let Episode III be your last Star Wars novel. Thanks for hours and hours of enjoyment!

Troy Denning: Thank you for being my personal favorite writer of the main characters from the Classic Trilogy.

Karen Traviss: Thank you for showing me that Mandos actually are pretty neat, and that Clone Troopers kick major butt.

Aaron Allston: Thank You for writing Starfighters of Adumar... I think that's pretty easy to understand?

John and Jan: Thank You for making the Clone Wars rock so very very hard.

And to any author of Star Wars EU, in general. Thank you, you've turned what was just my favorite movies into something much richer and deeper than I thought possible.

Thanks Karen and Ryan for adding Definition to what originally was a bunch of numbered organic droids

Thanks Jan and John (the true dynamic duo) for the awesomeness you created (Aayla + Quin, and many others besides) *some of us are willing to accept delays for quality, especially how they are rarely the artist/writers faults*

Thanks Troy for the retcons you always seem to slip in and the way your taking the post-NJO to this point (have to read TSW to make a firm decision)

Thanks Mr. Lucas + LFL for allowing non-movie sources to be considered official continuity.
and the greatest intro ever.. A Long, Long Time Ago...

I remember a similar topic a couple years back, and it's long overdue. Team effort has successfully slowed the pervading assault of hardcover seduction, and it's now official: Denning and Traviss are musketeering to finger the One Ring of excellencing books.

So lets give thanks and smile!

I'd like to thank all Star Wars authors -- even the ones whose work I don't much like. They've given us the SW universe, and there is no book so far that has no redeeming value somewhere, something special to add to the EU.

Most importantly, I'd like to thank the big man, the Flanneled One himself. Laying aside even the OT, I'm grateful he went ahead with his vision for the prequels. I haven't seen any other proposal that's half so good. They just modify his formula, shortsightedly taking out little parts they disagree with or inserting their own fanboyish schlock. He did it, and whatever their shortcomings (which I freely acknowledge), the movies were awesome. He takes a lot of flak from a lot of self-important buffoons, but he isn't after the money (God, he doesn't need it -- why would he pimp out his movies, his vision to get it?) and he isn't out to rape your childhood. He's out to fulfill his vision his way, and for that I thank and applaud him. Thank you, George, for bringing something beautiful into my life and the life of every other Star Wars geek out there. applause applause cowboy applause applause

Thank you Aaron Allston, for showing me that a character's death can provoke an emotional respone, despite having only been truely alive for less than two full novels. This great loss midway through "Iron Fist" will be in my memory for a very long time.

Thank you, Matthew Stover, for bringing a depth and a style to this that I hadn't seen before, that I didn't ever expect to see in Star Wars.

Thank you, Troy Denning, for capturing almost perfectly the feel of Star Wars, for making it a grand adventure again. And thanks for taking the characters in ways that make us interested - for characterizing so well.

Thank you, Karen Traviss, for also being an awesome writer who did something we'd never seen before, who made us care about the characters no one cared about. And thanks for writing one of my favorite books of all time, not just Star Wars, but anywhere.

Thank you, Timothy Zahn, for bringing us a great and original villain and giving him one of Star Wars' best and most fitting death scenes.

Thank you, Karen Traviss, for showing the community and also myself just what the clones are made of.

Thank you, Aaron Allston, for making a duology of books where we can laugh in the middle of a dark-as-hell, gritty series on the heels of a depressing major character death.

Thank you, Sean Stewart, for doing justice to the characters of Yoda, Count Dooku, and Asajj Ventress where others have failed with these complex, difficult individuals.

Thank you, Troy Denning, for writing the Han Solo who we all know and love.

Thank you Michael Stackpole: For Corran.

Thank you James Luceno: Everything you touch is golden.

Thank you Michael Reeves: For the Darth Maul book.

Thank you Steve Perry: For Shadows of the Empire and some of my greatest childhood memories.

Ahh crap i needed to add to my post:

Thanks KJA/Tom Vietch: Best Bad Guy ever.. its spelled K-U-N.

Thanks Stackpole/Allston: its nice to read about non-main characters (i found the Rogues and Wraiths POV and conflicts better than the Big 3, Proving it doesnt have to be a galaxy wide conflict to get your interest)

Thanks Reeves/Perry: I actually LOVED Medstar (well I do like Bariss a lot as well but..) it was nice to finally get a prequal era book with nonames.

Thanks to future writers who go off the beaten path and bring us smaller scale stories without the main characters (like RS/WS, MS1+2)
