I dont get this. Why does everyone forget Anakin killed kids before? They were tuskens, but still innocent kids. At least the Jedi kids could put up a fight, which they did.

The part where the teenage Jedi/padawan killed clone-troopers was awesome. I wanted to see someone challange vader- I mean it would have been like 3 moves but still it would have been nice, or seen vader kill someone off a force choke... Dooku had the coolest force choke in the show though.

I have said all along that if GL is sick and twisted enough to chronical that on screen, I will be forced to leave the theater. I'm sick of hearing "Oh, but it shows how evil Anakin really became!" Baloney! He had an entire planet blown up without remorse, okay, we KNOW how evil he gets. We don't need to see slaughtered children to know that!
George Lucas is a disgusting man.

He wasnt responsible for the destruction of Alderan. Nor could he have done anything about it if he wanted to.

Yep..Tarkin destroyed Alderaan, not Vader. He was a party to it, but he couldn't have stopped it anyway.
I've heard, and correct me if I'm wrong, those of you who have seen ROTS, that Anakin comes into he room where the Younglings are hiding and one of them comes up to him and asks "What do we do?" then he ignites his saber then it cuts away to something else. Then you see the bodies a little later. So, we don't actually see him killing any of the younglings. I know he does, but we aren't witness to it, right?
(I'm asking 'cause I'm seeing the movie at midnight, and I would like to know)

We don't need to see slaughtered children to know that!
That was my point as well. It surprised me that GL would show something like this.

I am so glad that GL didn't chicken out and leave this scene out. Every time Anakin does something bad, there are tons of excuses. Tusken slaughter? Oh those children would have grown up to be animals anyway. A whole planet destroyed? Well, Tarkin was responsible for Aldreaan and poor weak Vader stood watching helplessly. Disarming Mace? Look how bad Mace has been to Anakin! Killing adult Jedi? Oh well, those arrogant jerks, who don't understand anything of the Living Force, deserved it!
And now we come to 5-year-olds who innocnetly believe Anakin is one of them, a hero, and will help them. There are no more excuses. These kids didn't kidnap his mother, hold him back, cause his wife to die, deny him Master status, and didn't seem arrogant.
Is this why this scene is finally disturbing? Hurrah!

I'm going to see this flick tomorrow night, and I already know about the Youngling slaughter scene.
However;
This part negates my ability to forgive Anakin, or more to the point, accept that the living force would allow Anakin to live on as a redeamed spirit.
Killing the Jedi adults was one thing, but to slaughter inncoent children.
No, I don't like this. I'm sure I'll enjoy the movie, and even this particular scene in some way, but again it takes away from Anakin's redemption.
If I had any say in this, I'd have liked to see Lucas 'mirror' the capture of the Rebels on the Tantive IV.
Imagine the younglings being marched away with their hands on their heads by Clone Trooper guard.
THAT, would have been respectable, and another worthy homage to the OT.
Instead...
Well, I'll like the movie anyways.

Darth_Digital, point taken, but what would you expect the Empire to do with all these little force-sensitive kids? Mold them into Sith or kill them?

Personally, I think that this scene makes Anakin's eventual redemption even more powerful.
Despite the atrocities he commited, in the end with the love of his son, and the good that was still inside him, he was able to make a choice and return to the light.
We are supposed to pity AND hate Anakin at the end of this movie, what he did IS unforgivable by any human imagination.
But the Force is supposed to be something more than that isn't it?
