	Title: Empty Vessel Author: LukesTheMan Genre: poem, angst Characters: Darth Vader Summary: What is the darkness? Empty Vessel I am an unfilled vessel set free. Cut loose from my moorings I drift through the years Effortlessly…aimlessly Leaving behind my flesh My fear… Useless in my emptiness, I am a void into which no light flows Or escapes. My freedom was purchased With blood and betrayal. But what use is freedom In a galaxy forever bereft Of her…? None will hear her soft voice Or know the sweetness of her touch. Most of all me, For I am removed from her From the light of her, And the warmth of her goodness. I have built the wall That will forever separate us, One from another. Left with nothing but rage, Which is now just a cold and shadowed thing. The heat of my former anger Burned away and transformed Into this frozen and terrible core That eats at me and consumes Bit by bit, moment by moment. I drink deeply of the bitter flood That fouls my mouth, my memories. The sweetness of love Long ago relinquished. An no longer mine to claim. Freed from my name My past My heart I am nothing and no one. A triumph that tastes like ash And hatred and grief. A banquet of darkness Laid out before me. Eating my fill, I am Gorging on death And drinking devastation. Carried this way and that By my own failure and misery. I am an empty vessel, Lacking purpose or function.
