	Title: Of Metal and Flesh Author: LukesTheMan Genre: poem Characters: Anakin and Luke Skywalker Summary: Father and son face the same choice with different results. Notes: Contains ROTS spoilers. Of Metal and Flesh I hold up hands Of metal and flesh. Before me a Sith Lord Mine to condemn Or to spare. Two paths before me. One illuminated, shining, Softly beckoning. The other shrouded In darkness and shadow, Calling out to me In a siren’s voice. My hands clench Each a part of me. One will triumph One will fall. A part of me will die And a part of me shall live. But which shall prove Victorious in this battle For my soul? I hear the song Ever louder, More seductive with Each dark note. The light seems Too far away to touch. As always, Just beyond my grasp. Unable to reach The light that beckons I embrace the dark. Feel the pull of it, The cold touch Skitters along my soul, Claiming, touching, branding. And the light is gone. As if it never was. I am Alone In the dark Just as I have always Suspected I would be. **************** I hold up hands Of metal and flesh. Before me a Sith Lord Mine to condemn Or to spare. Two paths before me. On one I shall walk Beside my father Casting my own shadow On the galaxy we rule. On the other There is death. One will die And one will live. But in that death There may be hope. Redemption? That I cannot answer. I can choose My humanity Or that which is less. My hands clench Reminding me Of lessons learned And truths forgotten. A choice then, Here and now. My left hand Is Light, but the other Is shadowed, corrupted. My heart will not let me Choose my father’s darkness. And if I die, I will die in the Light That once was his. My weapon Cast aside and Pardon given. A shock to feel The light expand And embrace us both, Father and son. Together at last, Jedi and Jedi, Sith no longer. Redeemed by love, Dying by design. A sacrifice made And a life reclaimed.
