Hey, guess what? Yep, every article I've seen so far is about the Lakers...blah, blah, blah. Seriously, why doesn't the media give Detroit its fair shot? They Lakers JUST BARELY got away with one home win.
EDIT:
Darth_OlsenTwins, better change that sig now, eh?
Yeah.
This is ludicrous. I may not like him, but Kobe is one of the best players in the league right now, and one of the best to ever play the game. He's one of the best clutch players I've ever seen. Having to make a 3 point shot with 10 seconds left with Rip Hamilton guarding you isn't easy, but Kobe made it look that way.
You may not like him, but give him credit where credit is due
I have no idea how anyone can deny that.

The Lakers have always been the darling of the media. The media aren't just lazy in reporting news, it's in sports as well.
If there's an conspiracy theories popping up it should be about the final play of regulation. It took 2.1 for Rasheed to tap the ball while Malone catches it while standing out of bounds, yet it takes Fisher 0.4 seconds to hit a fade-away jumper.

Do you think Tmac's efficiency would increase playing with Shaq compared to playing on the Orlando team?
Kobe's stats are essentially the same as Tmac's NOW... and Kobe is playing alongside Shaq.
Dirk Nowitzki... my favorite players has essentially the same stats as Kobe... and he doesn't play alongside a Shaq.
Do you not think a great players stats would increase playing alongisde Shaq?
Not only would they increase... they would increse dramatically.

If that is true, lets bring Shaq to Dallas so we can finally win a championship!

McGrady is a good player, sure... but he's not Kobe Bryant. I haven't really kept up with the Magic, but how many clutch shots has he made? Not as many as Kobe, I'll guarantee that.
Disliking Kobe as much as I do, its one of the most frustrating things about watching him play. He always seems to make impossible shots.
Anybody remember Game 1 of the Rockets series?

Actually I think it would decrease. McGrady in Orlando has to be 'selfish' and shoot a lot, who there is capable of good numbers?
Have no idea how you think he would be better in LA, alongside O'Neill, with whom he'd have to share a ball a lot more.

I didn't see where Malone's feet were situated. To me, he looked as if he was out of bounds with time on the clock. I thought it was a ridiculous no-call.
Nonetheless, thats no excuse.

In all fairness, I have been force fed all I can take of the Detroit hype in the past two days following their Game 1 win. I think the media has the tendency to over publicize any team and even over hype them, even the Lakers.
And as for Kobe, please do not compare him to Tracy McGrady, Dirk Norwitzski, or any of the other players of today. Kobe is heads and shoulders above those players and has proven it countless times, if not in this season alone. He is cut from the same cloth as Jordan, Bird, West, Magic, Chamberlain, and the other all-time greats. What he has done so far in his career, has already elevated him to legendary status as one of the greatest clutch shooters of all-time and he is only 25 years old. When I think of what Kobe is capable of in the next 12-14 years of his career, I get chill bumps. Do not mistake me for saying that Kobe is at the level of Jordan, Magic, Bird, and West right now but he is well on course to join them barring any unforeseen injuries, etc. Give the respect where it is due.

Weel, from what I saw in instant replay, Malone juggled the ball like three or five times while stepping from inboung to out of bounds position, so it's kind of hard to tell.

Kobe was not clutch at all before this last season.
Hypothetically though.. let's say Kobe is clutch... so is Robert Horry... but is he anywhere near a top 30 player?
Kobe throws up so much junk he is bound to hit it. you say Kobe is cltuch... why did the game even need to go to overtime then? why did they almost lose 2 games at home in the NBA Finals?
You throw up enough junk... eventually it is going to hit. That sums up Kobe's entire career.

From what I saw Malone had
at least
a shoe on the line when he caught the ball with 1.5 or so seconds left and the ref just stood there, waiting and waiting and waiting looking like he had no idea what was going on.
I'm not blmaing the ref for the Pistons loss though, the Pistons had the game and blew it.. they deserved to lose. I'm just saying, with another second on the clock the Pistons could have done something. Just look what Fisher did with 0.4!

I think we can't tell for sure if his foot was on line or not.
Though I think even if Pistons got the call, they wouldn't make the shot.

That's just not true. I can go to the basketball court and through up crazy three pointers all day and not hit one
You're point is completely invalid. You don't have to like him, but don't bash the man. He's a great player, period.

Uh...Dashy, have you been reading this stuff from the media? If LA loses, its all about LA and what they didn't do. If LA wins, its all about LA.
And you act as if the words "hype" and "Lakers" have never been used in the same sentence. if there was any team overhyped for this finals, it sure as hell wasn't the Pistons.
I have respect for you, but I have no idea how you can even compare the Piston hype to the Lakers hype. This is not the Laker's coronation. They just barely tied up the series (in a spectacular game, I might add)

For those of you arguing that Malone was out of bounds(as subjective as it may be), it is basically irrelevant. The Pistons had five minutes to finish the Lakers off in overtime after they blew a six point lead in the final 40 seconds+ and couldn't get it done. Does anyone remember a few pages back when I said at some point the Laker experience would come into effect? Point taken.
