If you somehow take offense to any of these, please re-read; prefereably in the company of someone with a sense of humour. Also sincere apologys to Ambrose Beirce.
+1:
The most honest phrase on the JC. At last count the JC had roughly 14,000,000 +1’s.
AC:
Abbrev,
Advisory Council;
started all the way back on UBB, the term ‘advisory’ was loosely applied to the JC counter-part. In the JC, ‘advisory’ required that the council simply ‘advise’ the users on what they had been ‘advising’ on, but not much else.
Administrator:
one who administers their administration on to poor unsuspecting users.
AFAIK:
Abbrev,
As far as I know.
The user’s get-out-of-jail-free card. Only to be used when making wild claims with no basis.
AIM:
and fire. Generally at Newbies.
April Fools Jokes:
A day marked on every Oldbie’s calendar for the highly vocal remembrance of better April Fools Jokes gone past.
Archive:
A forum containing threads that make themselves agreeable to the administration’s palette; an established way for members of the administration to ‘frame and hang-up’ rare pieces of praise.
Banning:
The South African government during apartheid used to ban individuals that questioned their legitimacy. By contrast, in the JC it is widely accepted that a banned user is one who is deemed illegitimate.
Bashers:
Sensible users who have taken to assuming all movies are bad until viewing. Generally the only users avoiding disappointment.
Big Brother Game:
A game that was adapted from the television series for the JC. Unfortunately it lacked everything that made the TV version interesting – sex, nudity and interesting contestants.
Bitter ex-mod:
See
Farraday
.
Blue Yoda Society, The:
This organization revolves around three ideals: its own persecution; the distortion of the ideas of its originators; and a fierce program of indoctrination. Alas, it has discovered the secret to mass religion.
Board:
A state of mind. Generally found in ModSquad updates.
BTW:
Abbrev.
By the way.
In passing. Commonly the only intelligent remark in a thread.
Canon:
In history, used to destroy castles, ships and enemy morale. Currently only required to destroy legitimacy and credibility of its authors.
Census:
The JC equivalent of a telemarketer. Thankfully it has the dignity not to interrupt during dinnertime.
Chat thread:
See
JCC
City Reps:
Members of the board required to represent entire Cities – in practice they are found only to represent themselves. The social butterflies of the FF.
Colors:
The best argument against claims of moderators’ high intelligence.
Communications:
The ironic title for a forum where communicating is furthest from anyone’s mind.
Communications Admin:
Minister for Propaganda.
Deleted Post:
An opinion removed from history.
Deleted Thread:
See
Newbie.
Drama:
‘Please, oh, please, won’t somebody think of the children?!?!?!’
Election Game:
See
Florida, Presidential Elections, Vote Rigging
and
Darth Sapient.
EU:
Abbrev.
The Expendable Universe.
Named as such after its ability to change and mould itself after its contradictions.
Fan Fic:
The only place that George Lucas doesn’t steal his scripts from. Fans suspect there is a good reason for this.
Fan fic author:
see
Midlife crisis.
One who finds his calling as a sci-fi writer when a middle-aged accountant.
FF:
Abbrev.
Fan Force.
Members of TF.N who have a life insofar as meeting other members of TF.N goes.
Flaming:
The art of setting alight another user’s sensibilities.
Focus Groups:
Groups of users hand-picked to reflect the administration’s point of view.
Forum:
In ancient Greece, an arena where everyone’s opinions are heard. In the modern day, Internet devices on which no-one’s opinions are heard.
GL:
Abbrev.
George Lucas.
The flannelled thread on which TF.N’s fate hangs.
Good-bye Threads:
The only users that make Good-bye threads are the ones that ask, “Did you miss me?” upon their return.
Gushers:
The supreme optimist. In politics, such people are known as ‘Communists’.
Head Admin:
The man with the most responsibility and the least accountability.
Holiday Banners:
The Administration’s best attempt to play scrooge and kill Christmas. Generally the best source of complaints this side of a corrupt mod.
Icons:
The mask that hides your face from other posters; and that which also conceals their horror upon seeing a photo of it.
Icon Artists:
The fashion designers of the JC. Pro: little to no contact or exposure to them is required, unlike real life. Con: The egos unfortunately have remained the same.
ICQ:
Chat device commonly used for activities your grandmother would blush over.
Informational Threads:
A forum so long neglected that there is currently a push for it to be renamed “Disinformation Threads”. Should the proud title of information be finally restored to this forum then the author humbly begs that this very thread be given a home there.
IMO:
Abbrev.
In my opinion.
Internet talk for “Ignore the following”.
JC:
Abbrev.
Our lord and saviour.
Also know as the Jedi Council.
JCC:
Abbrev.
Your Jedi Council Community.

LOL:
Abbrev.
Laugh Out Loud.
Patronisation doesn’t carry well over the Internet, so users use LOL instead.
LOTR:
Abbrev.
Lord of the Rings.
Sci-fi movies and novels that differ from Star Wars in one respect: they are well written.
Lurker:
The peeping tom of the best kind – a silent one.
Mark-up:
see
Stridarious
Member Update:
See
Egos, Attack of the.
Middle-bie:
A newbie upon receiving their first ban.
Mod Squad:
A movie of such poor quality that the administration of TF.N felt it a fitting name for their ilk. Upon being admitted to the ‘Mod-Squad’, Grilled-Sarlacc posts his standard welcome picture that has been so over-used that members are beginning to turn down offers to become moderators for fear of having it posted in their welcome thread.
Mod Squad Update:
The placation of the masses; the opiate of drama.
Moderator:
A member of a particular race of users; who in all his/her wisdom should choose to keep this thread open will be generously rewarded.
Newbie:
See
Welcome New Users.
Newbie-Bashing:
See
Welcome New Users.
Oldbie:
One who bears a remarkable resemblance to old people in real life – They are slow in movement; they are the loudest (and most prolific) complainers; they are oft quoted as saying “Things were better in my day”; and most importantly, they are incontinent.
OT:
Abbrev.
Original Trilogy.
Films inhibited by real locations and actors.
PM:
Abbrev.
Private Message.
A fashionable device of users to show their popularity; they send them to themselves.
Post:
What makes the JC go round. Accordingly the 'Last Post' will be played upon the death of the JC
Post Count:
See
Bib Fortuna, T’wilek.
PPOR:
Abbrev.
Post Proof or Retract.
The common alternative to an intelligent rebuttal.
PT:
Abbrev.
Prequel Trilogy.
Films only inhibited by dialogue, which has a nasty tendency to get in the way of good special effects.
Redundant:
The newbie’s first 50 posts.
RL:
Abbrev.
Real Life.
If you are reading this, something you do not posses.
Senate Floor, The:
Many moons ago, one mod turned to another and asked them to come up with “The cruellest practical application of the term ‘Bashing Heads’.” Thus it has come to pass that the Senate Floor was created and still flourishes today.
Server Crash:
God’s great joke.
Signature:
In RL a device that has great economic power. In Internet-land, it has a similar power to draw lawsuits and legal action.
Smilies:
Required by those too illiterate to express themselves in words.
Sock:
Many users often converse with their own socks: this is understandable – it is the only way to have intelligent conversation on the JC.
Soliciting:
See
Collectors Forum.
Spammer:
A title reserved for one who holds a disagreeable point of view; wielded with much success by those in possession of a ban-button.
Spoiler:
A piece of information that many users do not want to see; they would prefer to be disappointed in the cinema instead of disappointed beforehand.
Spoiler Junkie:
those who boast they “know it all” before the viewing and complain afterwards about predictability.
Stars:
What a member invariably sees after suggesting that they be brought back.
Star Wars:
That which brings us together; that which drives us apart. Ultimately, that which is not discussed and generally ignored.
Teh:
Fashionably illiterate.
TF.N:
Abbrev.
Theforce.net.
A Star Wars website dedicated to the hindrance and suppression of the JC.
The Golden Age:
A wonderful time when there were no oldbies.
Troll:
Obese Norwegian drunks. Also the major patron of Communications.
VIP:
Abbrev.
Very Important Person.
The title has somewhat changed since its introduction to the JC – it now is commonly used as ‘Vaguely Ignored Person’.
Watched Users:
An Internet equivalent of telling a user ‘I know where you live’. Seen in some circles as a great compliment, in others, as stalking.
Zerosleep:
Achieved demi-god status when absent for a large period of time. His second coming hailed a new era in JC technology in which nothing has yet really happened.
malkie edit
this is great work, but because
this
thread technically predates this one, I'm locking this thread in favour of the 2005 edition of the original. If there is anything in this one that needs adding to the 2005 Ed of the original then PM me, and I'll edit it in.
malkie edit 2
my bad for not reading properly, thread reopened as it differs greatly from the other thread

You got "Fan Fic Author" wrong. If you've ever wandered in there, you'd know it should read:
Fan Fic Author:
teenage girl who uses Star Wars characters to reflect how bad their life is, or how good they wish it was. See also
Liz Skywalker

Actually most of the list was in the real JCC glossary. I just changed the entries. So no, not a time consuming task.
