I checked the rankings, France is still only number 2 behind Brazil.
France are unbeaten in 19 games, and until Lampard's strike they'd not conceeded a goal in 11 matches.
Meanwhile Brazil are losing to minows in South America.

Shows you what a joke those rankings are though
And well everton, we'll have to suffer another england match on ITV...lets hope ITV dont help England blow it.
BTW no offence to Sir Bobby (thanks for getting Ipswich the FA Cup and UEFA Cup BTW) but he really shouldnt be used as an analyst in the commentary box, he's better off in the studio.

Let's face the facts, France won and England lost, end of discussion.
Hopefully today's matches won't be awfully boring.

And the ITV coverage! It's terrible isn't it!!!! Clive Tyldsley is a joke of a commentator. Give me John Motson any day.
I can't stand John Motson, he exaggerates everything and most of the time sounds like he hasn't seen half the players play before. Give me Barry Davis any day. Clice Tyldsley isn't that bad I think, but maybe I'm biased because he commentated on the 99 European Cup final.

I'm still recovering from yesterdays game.
Ah well, the Swiss and Croatians we should beat, and from the performance of England yesterday I feel even more confident we could win this tournement. King should start next game, Becks should practice penalties and I think we'll conquer Portugal.
BTW, did any Brits see Fantasy Football after England - France, I thought it was great, cheered me up.

The Danes are playing a lot better than Italy for the moment...
...Italy will have to watch it or they'll lose it...
EDIT: Hrm, the referee seems to be a bit pro-Denmark...first no penalty when it was an obvious foul inside the box and then no corner when the Danish defender kicked it out?

Denmark will win against Italy, Trapattoni is playing too much defensive.

What about no penalty when Cannavaro pushed Tomasson inside penalty box? Or silly yellow card for tripping, not diving?

A far more entertaining half then I expected. Although the Danes had far more chances, the two chances Italy were still very dangerous. If it weren't for the nice saves of the goalkeeper.
I don't think Denmark will keep up in the second half lack of ideas + heat will be getting them. Its currently 35 degrees in Portugal, nice beach weather though
Also I do not believe the referee is pro-denmark he did gave a yellow to the guy (Tomasson? screw the name ) Who was 'acting'.
Oh well I guess Italy should be paying more attention to the training instead of doing their hair

RE: EURO 2004 - The Official JCC Discussion Thread
And another player who's not worthy of the England shirt...Steven Gerrard, what the hell was that back pass about? Idiot...get him out of the team and play someone who has a brain!
The bright sparks for our side were as I'd predicted, Rooney played brilliantly...wish he'd calm down a bit but meh, Beckham was class....Lampard....one of the best players on the pitch and although Owen was quiet, he was doing his best to upset the french defence.
And I have to admit Ledley King was perfect for the role in the defence...I say keep him there he's better than John "****" Terry.
Just curious, do you follow football?
Steven Gerrard is as close to world-class England have. Lampard is excellent as well. Stating that Gerrard doesn't deserve the national team shirt reeks of ignorance. Ledley King was good.. one game, he was solid.. and Terry is crap?
Why exactly do you think he was nominated for the PFA?
"Rooney played brilliantly"
Rooney had his moments, sure, but it was just flashes. Not a great game. Just very good plays here and there.
And the first conceded goal, it was no one's fault. Zidane is a genius. It was his tune, England were forced to dance. What a free-kick. It was magnificent. Stop whining. England have played very well, they can go a long way if they continue. I think if they win the next 2 games and things go as I expect in Group A, their main obstacle will be Spain. I have this feeling that England won't get past Spain.
