The DVD is already out in the land of Aust. But Adams hated it.
Can anyone remember what day is International Towel Day?

I still need to get
Salmon
, but I've read the rest. Truly brilliant and hilarious... they're probably the funniest books I've ever read!

Wow! This thread really wasn't going anywhere at first. I was worried that there was only a few of us Hitchhiker fans out there.
Isn't
Long Dark Teatime...
the Dirk Gently book? I seem to remember reading it.
I've got the Hitchhiker's Guide video from a few years ago. It's absolutely cheesy, but definitely funny. I'd love to see full length films of them done with todays technology. That'd be awesome!
One other Adams book I'm missing (other than
Salmon
) is
Starship Titanic
. Is this a cross reference to the Starship Titanic in the Hitchhiker's books, or something totally different? I remember reading that the Starship Titanic in the Hitchhiker's books was the first to experiment with Probability Drives.
Of course, it's all probably at an incredibly high improbability factor.

I may be wrong, but I think that Starship Titanic was a video game of the Hitchhikers series (Not the text-based one)... and I think that later an author (not Adams) wrote a novelization of it...

Ok, first off... I'm upping this thread...
Second of all, I found something interesting...
This is a card in the SW CCG....If you look where the yellow circle is... you can see the HG2G logo...
The green guy...
I don't know if it's on the real card of that, but it's from the Official Decipher site, so I think it's real...

Nice catch CBaoth_The_Crazy, and yes, Starship Titanic is a video game. Not sure if anyone made a novel of the same name.
Has anyone else noticed how often the number "42" pops up? It seems to jump out at me all the time, maybe it's just because I am always looking for it but I mentioned it to my wife and she started seeing it everywhere also... *shrug*

I don't know about the number 42 popping up so much in real life, but the CCG card is really cool. The smily green guy is right down there in the corner.
I wonder if that's actually in Empire, too?
Or would this be just a blatant excuse to watch Empire again?
I loved how the mice were brainstorming to come up with questions for the meaning of Life, the Universe, and Everything.
Maybe Old Thrashbarg new what he was talking about when he said that if you knew the answer to the question, the question might be taken away. Seems like that's what happened when the answer 42 popped up.

RE: Eat at Milliways!!! The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy appreciation thread!
Terry Jones of Monty Python fame wrote Starship Titanic for Adams when he was rushed with the game of the same name.
It has touches of Adams - it's from his story afterall - but mostly it's from the hand of Jones no doubt. This isn't a bad thing though, it's still a great read. Not on the level of Admas, but still there you go.
And why haven't any of you read Last Chance to See? For DA, it was his most important book.
Can't anyone remember what day is International Towel Day?

Here
...
I've heard of
Last Chance To See

And, no... I don't know when International Towel Day is....

RE: Eat at Milliways!!! The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy appreciation thread!
Alright, I finally found someone else on the boards who appreciates THHGTTG! The only people who I knew until know that had any interest in these books were myself and my best friend, Eric. And I'd never found anybody on the boards who was into them.
For anybody who read the first half, at least, of
Mostly Harmless
, here's my favorite part(I'll try to duplicate the words as good as I can from memory. By the way, this takes place after Ford Prefect has entered the offices of
The Guide
, and it has been taken over by InfiniDim enterprises.):"Ford Prefect hurled himself through the glass door to the editor's office, splintering the doorframe as he did so. Using his momentum, he propelled himself over to the statue of Leda and The Octopus, using the small drinks trolley as cover from the hail of gunfire coming from the guns of the security robots, with their guns all trained on him. Strangely enough, as Ford actually hurled himself through the doorframe, the drinks trolley wasn't there, and neither was the statue of Leda and The Octopus. Also, was the strange absence of the gunfire" Ah, these books are great.
