RE: Dimensions: Narnia/StarWars crossover, JA
A servant came running into the great throne room of Cair Paravel, that castle on the eastern seacoast of Narnia.
"Why, what is it Derimon?" the King Edmund asked him.
"A very strange sight, sir! A thing like a dragon that went roaring and breathing fire behind it across the sky, has just landed outside the castle walls--and has disgorged people!"
"WHAT?!?!" said all four of their Majesties at once.
"It is as I have said!" said Derimon, "come and see for yourselves, if you don't believe me"
As they were walking towards the front gate of the castle, Peter whispered to Edmund:
"You know, Ed, if it wasn't for the fact that we're in Narnia, I'd think that Derimon was describing an aeroplane."
"But it couldn't be an aeroplane--not in Narnia--could it?"
"I don't know, Ed, I can't think of anything else that would fit his description"
"Well, you know, I have heard of strange things beyond the Western Mountains; perhaps it is one of these?"
"We shall see!"
They finally reached the stairs next to the gate, leading up to the battlements, climbed them, and looked out.
"By the Lion!" said Peter.
"What on earth?" said Susan.
"What is it?" asked Lucy. Edmund just gaped.
What they saw is hard to describe unless you have seen it for yourself. It looked something like an airplane--It had wings, and a cockpit, and engines--but it was like no plane that any of the four Kings and Queens had seen, even though they had originally come from our world. In fact, it was unlike any plane that you have seen, even though you live many years after those four lucky children. The best way to describe it would be to say that it was shaped something like an arrowhead with a bulge down the middle--if you are acquainted with aeronautical terms, I would say that it had delta wings that stretched all the way down the fuselage at a sharp angle, with a dome-shaped bubble canopy covering the cockpit, which was placed towards the stern of the craft. It had no tail.
Their Royal Majesties were at first so engrossed with the craft that they did not perceive the people which had just stepped out of it. Now they turned their attention to these, and they, too, were a strange enough sight to those accustomed to the Narnia style of dress.
They were wearing long, light brown tunics, strangely folded, held in place by a belt, with long, flowing, dark brown robes over this.
The taller of the two figures was a man with light hair, apparently about 17 years of age. Even though he was young, however, he already had an air of wisdom about him. The shorter was a girl, with short-cut hair, who looked a few years younger than the man.
Perhaps, however, the thing that puzzled the Narnians most were the small black cylinders that both carried, holding them in a "guard" position as if they were swords.
"What think you, Edmund?" said Peter, "Shall we go down and meet them?"
"I see no reason not to, Peter."
"Forward then. By the way," he said, talking to a guard in the castle livery who stood near him, "It would be best to keep an arrow at the ready, in case these people--if that is what they are--have hostile intentions. I would not think so, seeing that they are only two, against a whole army, but all the same, I don't necessarily think it would be a one-sided fight. That girl certainly has a determined look in her face!"
"As you wish, your Majesty."
The four Pevensie rulers marched down the stairway and through the now-opened gate, with Peter and Edmund in the front, and Susan and Lucy in the rear. The two strangers waited for them to approach, and then, when they got nearer, saluted them. Peter and Edmund returned the courtesy by withdrawing their swords from their sheaths for a moment.
This action, however, appeared to startle the girl, for she stepped back a pace and did something--none of the monarchs could tell what it was--with her cylinder.
Instantly, a bright column of purple light shot out of the end of the cylinder. Edmund jumped visibly, and took in his breath sharply. Susan turned white. Lucy gave a little scream. Only Peter appeared unmoved--but if you had keen eyes you could have seen his fist clench and turn white, and his lip quiver for a moment.
After a few seconds, during which both parties stood stock still, Peter motioned to Edmund.
"Put your sword back, Ed," he whispered hoarsely.
Edmund silently did as he was told. Peter then motioned to a man on the walls, who raised a white banner.
"Peter," said Edmund, "What are you doing? We will be disgraced forever if we retreat from them--we have the advantage!"
"Ed," said Peter, "We have no reason to fight; it would be good to make friends with these two. Besides, who knows what that--purple thing--is. It could be some kind of enchantment, and though I don't mind meeting anyone on fair terms on a battlefield, you know very well that no one can fight against magic--except the great Lion, Aslan, of course."
"Alright, Peter...as you wish." And then, with sheathed swords, and under a white banner of peace, the two Kings marched the last few steps between them and the strangers--the Queens having stayed behind at a safe distance.
The two strangers seemed to be conversing together, so the Kings respectfully stood a few paces away. At the end of this whispered conversation, during which the girl appeared to get very animated, she again did something with the black cylinder, at which the purple beam disappeared.
The Pevensies again looked startled, but this time they were able to contain their surprise.
"Do you speak Basic?" the girl asked, eyeing them cautiously.
"Yes, I think so," said Peter, "At least, if that's what we're speaking now. We usually call it Narnians."
"As long as we both speak it," said the girl.
"Who are you?" asked Edmund, with perhaps a touch of impatience and anxiety in his voice--but then who could blame him?
"I am Obi-Wan Kenobi, a Jedi apprentice, and this is my friend, Siri," said the young man, speaking for the first time.
"I, also, am a Jedi apprentice," said Siri, glancing at her friend.
"I am the High King Peter of Narnia, this is my brother King Edmund, and those," he said, pointing to the Queens, "are my sisters, Queen Susan and Queen Lucy."
"Your Majesty," said Obi-Wan, facing Peter and inclining his head slightly, "Perhaps you can you tell me what system this is?"
"System?" said Peter, "I know not what you mean."
"Don't you know what a system is?" asked Siri a little angrily, for she did not like being completely ignored like this.
"No," said Edmund, "we don't. I didn't think we were part of a system."
"Well, if we're not in a system, then, by the Force, where are we?" asked Obi-Wan.
"You're in the country of Narnia, in the land of Narnia, at our castle of Cair Paravel, my good man," said Peter, a trifle confused.
"Just call me Obi-Wan, please," said Obi-Wan.
"As you wish, Obi-Wan."
"Where is 'Narnia'?" asked Siri.
"Well...it's here!" said Edmund, also rather confused.
"Where?" asked Obi-Wan.
"I know it's confusing," said Peter, "And I think I may know why. But it's a long story. Why don't you come into the castle with us and have something to eat while I tell you our story? And then you can tell us yours."
Siri looked at her companion questioningly, as if to say, "Should we?"
Evidently he said yes, for she said, "Alright. But no tricks!"
"No tricks. I give you my word of honor," said Peter.
"Let's go, then," said Obi-Wan.
The four of them walked back towards the gate. Susan and Lucy, the two Queens, stood where they were, hesitatingly eying the black cylinders.
"It's alright, they're friends," said Edmund.
The Queens let out almost unperceivable sighs of relief, and came to meet the four advancing towards them.

Narnia and Star Wars...two worlds I never thought I'd see together, but you've made them work surprisingly well.
I like the comparison of an airplane to a starship. I absolutely love the Chronicles, and eagerly look forward to more of this story!

This kicks arse!
I was at first hesitant about clicking on the link and reading the story - but this is seriuosly cool. Excellant and you've even got C.S. Lewis' story style down pat.
Definitely adding this to my favourites.

RE: Dimensions: Narnia/StarWars crossover, JA
We got it done early!
Here's chapter 2!
=======================================================================
Once back inside the castle, preparations for the meal began. It was not, perhaps, the best, nor the largest meal that was ever served in the Great Hall of Cair Paravel, but even so, it was surprising how fast it was made ready, considering the size and quality of the dishes.
And now it was the strangers turn to be surprised, for, no matter where you are from, a feast at Cair Paravel in the Golden Age of Narnia is a sight to behold. There were four courses, each better than the last, and each was announced by trumpets from the balcony above.
After the heavy eating was over, Lucy, who was the best storyteller of the four, began their story. Most present had heard it before, and it makes an interesting story, but I will not go into detail here. Suffice it to say, the four monarchs had originally come from London, England, but by a strange turn of events they found themselves in Narnia. With the help of the lion Aslan they killed the White Witch, the horror of whose reign was not forgotten even yet. And then, in fulfillment of a prophecy, they were made Kings and Queens. At the time, Peter, who was the oldest, was 12, and Lucy, who was the youngest, was only 8.
"And that is the pith of our story," concluded Lucy. "It has now been fifteen years since we were crowned, and Narnia has been prospering since then. But come, it is time for you to tell us your story."
And so Obi-Wan began:
"Siri and I had been sent on a mission to the Marik system-"
"What sort of mission?" asked Edmund.
"Umm...I don't think I should say."
"So it was a secret mission?"
"Yes."
"I see. Please, go on."
"Well, as I was saying, we were on this mission in the Delta 6-"
"The Delta 6?" asked Peter.
"Yes, that's our starship-the thing we arrived in."
"I see."
"We were on this mission in our starship, the Star Treader--"
"Star Treader," murmurmed Lucy, "What a pretty name!"
"Thank you," said Obi-Wan."Now where was I? Ah, yes. At first all went well. We were nearing our destination when we spotted a Droid Starfighter a ways off."
"Droid Starfighter?" asked two voices.
"It's another kind of starship-hostile to our side."
"Your side?" asked Peter.
"It's a long story."
"Go on, then."
"Well, we spotted a Driod Starfighter, but, weren't sure if it had seen us. We decided to be safe and move out of the area. Unfortunately, it must have seen us, because it changed course and came after us. We put on full speed to try to escape, but droid fighters are exceptionally fast and it steadily gained on us. When it got close enough, it started firing it's blasters at us--"
"Blasters?"
"They're a kind of weapon--something like a conventional gun, except it shoots bursts of energy instead of bullets. Anyway, it started firing it's weppons at us. Luckily for us, the first shots missed. Then some very strange things started happening. First, we sped up dramatically and the turbulence increased sharply. Like we were jumping in to hyperspace, but much bumpier. But, back to the story. Then everything around us started moving faster and faster and faster until finally it was just a blur of motion. Like if we were in hyperspace, but, we didn't have our hyperdrive ring on us, so there is no way for us to have been in hyperspace. Then the turbulence increased even more, and we must have been knocked unconscious because the next thing we knew we were in a very strange looking place--not meaning to be rude of course--it seemed strange to us because we aren't used to it, I suppose. We were still in space, I think, but it was certainly a different space than the one we know. Each star--if they were stars--looked like bright, glowing people. They looked at us strangely but made no attempt to attack us. Below us we saw the ground, a very long way down of course--not a round planet, but just a long, flat expanse that went on into the distance. We decided to land our craft on this. As we got closer to the ground we saw your castle and thought that it must be an important place, and landed outside it. The rest you know."
There was silence for a few moments after Obi-Wan finished his story. Then Peter spoke up:
"That was a very interesting story, Obi-Wan. A little confusing-perhaps because I don't understand some of the things you mentioned. There are a couple things I would like to ask you about-but it is getting late, and you and your friend must be tired-" (here he looked at Siri. She, however, belied his words, for she looked extremely wide awake).
"Derimon!" he cried, "show our guests to their chambers. You," he said, turning to Obi-Wan and Siri, "Will be welcome to stay with us as long as you like. Breakfast at any time you please. And now, Goodnight!"
The goodnights were said, and the six went to their separate chambers in the keep of the castle.
