	Title: Lifeline to the Past Author: CodyMonKenobi, DarthSuzi, and NYCityGurl. Charecters:L/M, some PT charecters, and some OC Genre: Drama/action Prologue: Luke and Mara Jade-Skywalker have a new mission. The system of Naboo has decided to rejoin the New Republic. The Queen of Naboo, asks that the New Republic re-train royal guard, being that it is the home of the evil emperor, The council sends along Jedi to see what they can uncover. While there They gain some new and old alliesand enemies, Mara has to once again face the demons of her past, and Luke runs into the only family that he and his sister have left, the Naberries. Hope to get this started within the next day or two. I haven't written very much fanfic online, but I have a very good crew to help me do this. Can't wait to start. 	Here it is, the beginning. And I added a little to the end of the chapter, I wasn't satisfied with my ending. Chapter 1 Luke sat next to his wife in the cockpit of the Fiery Blaze. He and Mara were on their way back to the capital to meet with Leia and Mon Mothma. Luke hadn’t been himself lately, Mara knew this, but what was it that troubled him so? Every time she asked him about it he’d just say he was thinking and quickly change the subject. He got like this a lot lately, and what made it even worse was he wasn’t sleeping well. She finally decided that she would try again. She looked over at him in concern “Luke? Are you okay?” Luke jumped, he had been so deep in thought he had almost forgotten Mara was there. He looked back at his wife with a half smile on his face “I’m fine hon. How long until we reach Coruscant?” he replied “Oh no you don’t Skywalker! You have been off in another world since we came back from negotiating the land dispute on Neimodia. Now tell me what is bothering you.” Luke could see her face turning several shade of red, and could sense her frustration with him. But he really didn’t want to get into it at the moment. “I’m okay, I promise” He then placed his right hand on her left cheek, and gave her a kiss. “I don’t believe you” she snapped back, and gave him a look that Luke thought could put fear into the heart of the biggest rancor bull. “Really, I’m okay I just have some things on my mind. I promise I’ll tell you about it when we reach Coruscant.” He kissed here again on the forehead. “Besides, I’m a Jedi. I may tell stories from a certain point of view, but I don’t lie,” he said with a smirk on his face. Mara finally allowed herself to smile, and stared into his deep blue eyes for a moment. “It’s just,” she paused briefly and sighed. “I worry about you.” “I know, I’m okay.” He said reassuringly. Mara finally turned back to the ships controls “We’ll be at Coruscant in two hours.” She finally answered his question. Luke unstrapped himself and began to stretch. “I’m going to try and get a little sleep before we get there.” Mara didn’t say a word, she just nodded and waved him off. Luke could tell she was still upset with him. Luke started to feel guilty from trying to hide his feelings from her. He started to apologize but instead he just turned and walked to the back. It was a dark chilly night, and had it not been for the many bonfires burning all throughout the forest Luke wouldn’t be able to see his hand in front of his face. He sat there standing on the wooden bridge thinking about Vader when Leia came up behind him. “Luke, what’s wrong?” She asked. “Leia do you remember your mother, your real mother?” He asked. Leia looked at him, puzzled. “Just a little bit; she died when I was very young.” “What do you remember” He asked. Leia looked even more puzzled. “Just feelings really, images.” She said. “Tell me about her.” He demanded. Leia sighed but then smiled as she thought of her mother. “She was very young, beautiful, kind, but sad. Luke, why are you asking me this?” she finally asked. Luke looked very sad, and said quietly “I have no memory of my mother; I never knew her.” Luke jumped up quickly, and as he did Mara screamed. “I just came in to tell you we’re here.” Mara said. “Luke you’re covered with sweat, what’s wrong?” Luke was breathing heavily, then he finally answered “I have been having dreams. I want to find out about my mother. Surely there must be some way to find records about her.” Mara sat down next to him, and put her arm around him. “Hey it’s okay. We’ll look into it, but right now we need to go meet Leia.” She kissed him on the cheek and then stood and gave him a reassuring smile. “C’mon Skywalker, the galaxy still needs protecting.” Luke and Mara had reached the former Imperial palace at last. When they arrived they learned that Mon Mothma, Leia, Wedge, and another unfamiliar young woman wearing a black dress and white face paint with two red dots on her cheeks, were all waiting for them. They all stood up as Luke and Mara walked in. “You're just in time” Mon Mothma pointed toward the young lady. “This Queen Rani of Naboo. If you will take a seat then we will begin.” They all sat, and Leia cut in. “Let me catch you two up to speed. We have been discussing Naboo’s return to the republic.” Mara gasped. But Leia continued, “The Queen has asked that we send some of our people to retrain the royal guard. Commander Antillies has just agreed to take Rouge Squadron to train their pilots. And we have all agreed that since it was the Emperor’s home planet, we should send Jedi along as well.” The Queen cut in and in her best regal voice she said, “We need you there Master Jedi. The Emperor's home is haunted. We have sent many in but none returned. Please, we must cleanse his evil from our peaceful planet.” Luke could tell that Mara was uneasy about going, but it was their duty to go, besides she had come so far. The Emperor couldn’t have any hold on her now, he thought. “Of course, when do we leave?” He asked. “Two standard weeks” Mon Mothma said. “That will give you plenty of time for to get prepped, and time for her majesty to get ready for your arrival.” “I look forward to working with all of you. I will let my defense minister know to expect you.” The Queen said. Luke stood up and bowed, but Mara sat there in a daze, her face looking like she had just seen a ghost. Luke and Mara met with Leia outside the council office. “Well I guess we will get ready for our trip.” Luke said “Was there anything else you needed” He asked Leia. “Yes, as a matter of fact that wasn’t the only reason I called you here. I have had R2 working overtime, and I think he is very close to cracking into the old Jedi temple mainframe.” Luke’s jaw dropped open. “That’s great, have you retrieved any thing important?” he asked. Leia nodded “Just a few names, members of the old council and things like that. But we are trying to get as much for you as we can.” Luke had a smile from ear to ear, he couldn’t remember when he had been so excited. I wonder… he thought. “What about father, have you found anything on him?” Mara could tell where Luke’s train of thought was going. This was her chance, if she could convince him to Look for information about his mother, and send someone else she wouldn’t have to go to Naboo. “No.” Leia said, “But I really haven’t had him looking for that either.” “Get us a speeder.” Mara demanded. We’ll go check it out at once.” R2 was working ferociously; while he did Luke took a stroll through the Jedi library, he liked to do this sometimes. This time he made a point to look at all the busts of Jedi Knights that were in there. There were twenty busts. He often wondered what was so special about them that they had a bust made of them. He finally came to the last one, Master Dooku. That’s odd he thought That was the name of the guy who started the Clone Wars. As he sat there pondering Mara came up behind him. “I think we should try and find out about her, let someone else handle this Naboo problem.” She said trying to be convincing. Luke nodded. “No, like you said the galaxy still needs protecting. There is to much work to be done for me to go off chasing a dream.” “Luke” She yelled. “I am NOT going to Naboo. I don’t care what you say either I’m not going.” She was trying to fight back the tears. “I know it’s tough for you Mara, but it’s…” He got out before she interrupted. “You have no idea what it’s like for me.” She scolded “You weren’t under his control; He didn’t do things to you that he did to me.” She had started feeling bad for say that She knew that he took everything away from Luke, but he some how managed to keep himself in control. “I’m sorry” she finally got out, as tears ran down her face. “It’s okay.” Luke said. He put his arms around her and began to consol her, when R2 started beeping franticly. “What is it R2?” the droid continued. “What you’ve found my fathers file?” As Luke looked over it he found all that he could hope for and more, everything about his father, from being found on Tatooine, to the prophecy of the chosen one, to the clone wars. Then finally he ran across something that he could believe. Mara’s eyes widened as she read what she knew Luke had just seen as well. Right on the data pad it said married to Padme Amidala, of Naboo. They were both in shock, how in the force could this be she was trying to get out of going to Naboo, by convincing Luke to find his mother and that journey led them to the same place, The Emperor’s home. She said the only thing she thought a loving, supportive wife could say. “So, I guess we’re going to Naboo.” So Critism is always welcome, let me know what you think. -----signature----- We rednecks like to stay with-in the four main food groups. 	I like the new ending!! But poor Mara! That's really going to be hard for her. 	Thanks everyone. To all of the,poor Mara'sout there. Yes she is going to have a hard time, but what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. I wonder what they find on Naboo MWHAHAHAHAHA.
