Summary: Jabba considers the nature of beauty on his way to the Sarlacc's Pit

In the Eyes of the Beholder

The other Hutts call me perverted.

Not when I can hear them, of course, and never to my face. But I have numerous spies who report every whisper to me, and even if I didn't, the way faces darken and voices drop when I enter a room tells me everything I need to know.

They believe they are better than me, simply because I have a taste for exotics. They look upon my "pretties", my non-Huttese slave dancers, with thinly disguised distaste. They frown when I clothe the females in garments that show off their alien anatomies.

They do not understand how beautiful the non-Huttese can be.

For example, take the Twi'lek dancer I fed to the rancor just a few days ago. I admit I do not understand bipedal dancing. Their leaps, bounds, and twirls have never excited me, nor the shape of their lower extremities that two-legged males seem to find so alluring. But to have such a creature chained to my side, to deny her the freedom she seeks to capture in her movements - that was a delight.

I still remember how she struggled to stay away from my touch. It was clear from her contorted face how much she loathed me, how disgusted she was by my proximity. And the look of utter horror when I dropped her into the rancor's lair -

It was a moment of pure beauty.

The very same day the Rebel princess appeared under the guise of a bounty hunter. She thought to rob me of Solo, but instead I caught her in the act and made her one of my pretties. She did not struggle as I had expected, nor did she scream in defiance. Instead, she allowed herself to be chained, and now sits meekly by my throne, seemingly oblivious to my presence.

Perhaps she will beg for Solo's life later, when I will have him thrown into the Sarlacc's Pit. I hope she does, or else I will have suffered her repulsive looks for nothing.

The Jedi, on the other hand -

It was love at first sight. Never had I seen one so calm, so confident. And while he spoke as though we were equals (as if a human could ever be considered a Hutt's equal!), the way he held himself made it clear he expected to get what he wanted. The audacity, the utter gall of this - this human! Were I some other Hutt, I would have had him flayed alive for his insolence!

Just imagining him writhing on the floor, his body broken and his will shattered, was enough to send shivers of ecstasy through my body.

I dropped him in the rancor's cage to see if he would panic. He did not. I watched him as he defended himself from the rancor, wondering when he would break. Again, he did not. Instead, he somehow managed to kill the beast with nothing but a well-aimed throw.

How I wanted to hold him in my arms! How I wanted to cover him with my spittle and see him squirm with repugnance! How I wanted to reduce him to nothing more than a collection of visceral revulsion!

But I restrained myself from such indulgences. Beauty is a rare thing, after all, and should not be wasted. Instead I sentenced him and his fellow Rebels to a slow, painful death.

In a short while we will reach the Sarlacc's Pit. I doubt he will beg for mercy, even in the face of certain death. It is a pity, for I will not be able to watch him suffer in the Sarlacc's digestive tract. Perhaps later, I will have a droid go in with a holocamera.

For I am a connoisseur of exotic beauty, and it would be a shame to let beauty go to waste.

First things first: You sicko tongue

Just imagining him writhing on the floor, his body broken and his will shattered, was enough to send shivers of ecstasy through my body.

And he wonders why the other Hutts think he's a pervert. thinking That sentence caught my eye . . . wonderful choice of words. It sort of sums up the whole story. I love the way you showed Jabba a beast who defines his 'love' for his favourites by torturing them.

Kind of like some fanficcers, actually. tongue

Very original and wonderfully written. Good work!

Nem happy

Great job... I loved Jabba's inner thoughts, very well thought out. He wouldn't find the females attractive, but he'd find their struggles attractive. Yup, that sounds like that Hutt.

*takes a bow*

I love the way you showed Jabba a beast who defines his 'love' for his favourites by torturing them.

And he does love them. Sort of. In his own crazy way.

Ana_Labris: Ok, that was sick! Talk about sadictic pleasure of the ugliest type.

Thank you! And yes, writing this was sadistically pleasing. *evil grin*

SarkaVrae: this was cool. totally weird & demented, but very, very cool.

Thank you, it was fun getting in touch with my inner madman.

GreatOne: He wouldn't find the females attractive, but he'd find their struggles attractive.

At first I considered making him see humans and humanoids as beatiful in the normal sense, but figured it might turn out a bit too icky for this board. Just think of all the people I could have offended with a cross-species fic featuring Jabba and Luke!

LOL, I can definitely see this perspective of Jabba's in the way he treats his court, even if it made me squirm slightly. Struggle is, often, the most beautiful thing about a person.

*jaw drops after having this extremely amusing and disturbing piece of work*

lazykbys, I have to hand it to you. You've got guts. What a strange, bizarre, twisted story. And yet...it actually makes sense. I can actually imagine Jabba thinking such thoughts. That perverted little slug! wink

I was alternately laugh and sick while reading this. Excellent job! Keep up the good work. grin

DarthIshtar: Struggle is, often, the most beautiful thing about a person.

So very true. Which must be why we keep writing about them.

To quote Lois McMaster Bujold: the rule for finding plots for character-centered novels, which is to ask "So what's the worst possible thing I can do to this guy?"

Jabba was very easy for me to write. *evil laugh*

Geith_Jiseo: What a strange, bizarre, twisted story. And yet...it actually makes sense.

Well, Jabba is a strange, bizarre, twisted fellow. Thanks for reading!
