	Title: Scattered Minds Author: Ben_Watson Timeframe: Pre-NJO Characters: Jaina, Jacen, Kyp, Corran, Luke, Mara, Han, and a little Leia. OCs. Genre: Angst/Action/Romance (As good as I can get it...)/AU Keywords: Why? Love, Nightmares. Summary: Nightmares are plauging the mind of a young Jedi Knight. But when information crucial to the destruction of evil is found, can he face his fears? Notes: This is complete AU, almost everything about it is. Prolouge Xavier Taluke was stranded. He was stuck in his own dream again, not knowing where he was. He was in a dark room, he couldn't see anything. Only thing visible was a girl, about his height, which was a good amount. Short blond hair, and bloodshot eyes. She appeared to be crying. Xavier stepped towards her. They were both wearing Jedi robes, different colors though. His dreams never made any sense. Always strange, or non-understandable. But she was always there. The girl, always there, no matter where his mind took him. He didn't know her name though... He always woke up when he asked. Xavier finally reached her. He touched her face slightly, trying to ease her tears. He drew her in, wrapping his arms around her. The tears slowed down, but didn't stop. He wanted to help her, find out what was wrong and fix it. Then suddenly, the room changed. It moved to a battlefield. Jedi and Dark Jedi were fighting eachother. Xavier didn't know the planet, but he could tell the battle was furious. Jedi struck eachother down without fear. Others with anger. Some of his friends were there. He couldn't tell what was going on, except the girl was gone from his arms, cowering behind a tree. He ran over to her, crouching to her level. "What's wrong?" She looked over behind the tree. "Battles are scary." Xavier had never heard her speak before. She had a soft child's voice that made Xavier smile. "It'll be alright, now tell me your name." Damn it... Well there it goes, he thought. Sure enough when he turned around a Dark Jedi was standing over them both. He lifted his arm and struck at Xavier. Chapter 1 Xavier shot up from his pillow. He was back in his room in the Jedi Temple on Corusant. He was sweating, and it was still late, so he decided to get cleaned up for classes early. He stood up and walked over to his closet. He took a robe from there and set it on his bed. He quickly washed up, put on his robe, grabbed his lightsaber, and left the room. The halls were quite empty at this time, only a few people roamed around late at night. He quickly made his way towards the sparing room. On the way he ran into a friend of his, Oden Baruk. He sported short black hair, he was taller than Xavier, and wore a brown robe. He stared at him strangly, "Are you well?" Xavier wasn't puzzled by the question. Oden often asked about his health, dreams can affect one's health after a certain time. "I'm fine." he lied. He wasn't fine, he needed to resolve his dream problem. It was bothering him immensly that he couldn't do anything to help this poor girl. Who he has no idea whether or not she exists! Oden eyed him suspicously, "Alright. It's late though." He walked more down the hall, with Xavier following. "The Council have found some information on the whereabouts of the Crystal and Starlight Academys." Those academys were those made up of either outcast Jedi or those who have disreguarded the Temple's help. "Do you have any idea what their going to do about them?" Unlike Xavier, Oden was closer to becoming a Jedi Master than himself. He had access to other information that the other Knights did not. They made a right at the third hallway, towards the sparring room. "No idea yet, just that's what they've got." "Who else knows?" asked Xavier as they entered the sparring room. The room was one of the largest in the building. It was properly matted for comfort reasons. Remotes are stacked upon shelves, along with a closet filled with fencing droids. "Just Jaina, that's it." answered Oden. He took out seven remotes and looked as though he was modifying them. "Speaking of Jaina, how are you two getting along?" Xavier had been expecting this question. He had been with Jaina for two years now. They've had their rough times, but always made it passed. "We're doing just fine." He activated a droid and brought it out into the center. "She know about your dreams?" returned Oden, setting his remotes into air. He ignited his lightsaber, the green aura bouncing off the walls. The remotes started to circle him, waiting for an open spot. Xavier set his droid's settings and let it run. He drew his own blue lightsaber, melding with the mat's color. "Most of them. Niether of us can do anything about them now." He moved to left with a swift block. Oden ducked and deflected a blaster bolt. "No, but talking about it helps." "It'll just have to move on by itself," answered Xavier turning for a lower block. He pulled up and destroyed the droid with a head blow. After Oden had finished his quick training, they removed the reckage and left the room. He stared out the window before leaving, 'It's almost dawn, you should prepare for your classes." "Same as yours." grunted Xavier. "I'll meet you in Council." said Xavier as he ran down the hallway, opposite of Oden. A few hours later the Jedi Knights had been called into Council. Sitting at the had was Luke Skywalker. To his right, his wife, Mara. And to his left, his nephew, Jacen. Other Masters were surrounding the them. Those of intrest would be Corran Horn, Kyp Durron, and Bait Ronin. Joining Xavier in the room was Oden, his Padawan Ryden Tulk, and Jaina Solo. He stood slightly nervous in the center, waiting for the Masters to begin their discussion. Luke leaned forward, lacing his fingers. "As you have heard by now, we have uncovered important information about the location of the Starlight and Crystal Academys. We can only attack one place at a time. And we need to exterminate them quickly, before they can gain more followers." Xavier took in all of this, "Where would you have us go?" Skywalker sat back in his chair, "Naboo." "Most of us will be traveling with you. I will be leading the assult." stated Jacen. "Among those, will be Kyp Corran, and myself." "When do we leave?" asked Jaina. She was standing firm, her long dirty blonde hair tied in a knot. "Tonight, all info will be given before boarding begins." answered Luke. Yup things are a little different in my world. Chapter 2 Xavier sat on a cargo box, preparing himself. He was finishing up attaching his gloves when Jaina came over. She kissed his cheek softly and he smiled sheepishly. He put an arm around her, hugging her tightly. "How are you feeling?" whispered Xavier. They let go, smiling at eachother. "I'm doing well. And you?" she asked taking his hand. "I've been better." he took her in and softly kissed her. "Nightmares again." Her expression changed to worry. "Still... Damnit, Xavier. Why do these keep coming back? The same ones right?" He nodded, "They won't stop, I don't know what they mean! I've learned not to trust dreams, but these keep coming back and they seem so real." "You should talk to Luke about them. He might be able to help you." suggested Jaina. She looked very worried and upset. Xavier knew that she wanted him to feel better, but he wasn't very open with alot of people. Very few knew his secrets. "I'll do after the mission, now is now time to be bothered with that stuff." He gave her one final kiss, then headed off into the ship. After the Republic Fleet dropped out of hyperspace, the briefing began. Jacen was the head of the mission, so he would be giving the briefing. He stood up and activated a hologram projector. It portrayed a hologram of the planet, with important locations marked. "Ok, we'll be landing here," stated Jacen, pointing to one of the marked locations on the map. "The other carriers will land here, here, and here," again, pointing to various spaces on the map. "We'll be dividing into teams of two. One team for each fleet." He stopped to clear his throat and to pick up a datapad. Jacen stared at pad for a few seconds. "Xavier and me, Jaina and Oden, and Corran with Kyp." "You have one hour to prepare. Meet at the hanger bay then." An hour later the Jedi met in hanger. They each dispersed into shuttles with their siege groups. They sprayed down upon the planet, hundreds of troops landing on the surface. Xavier and Jacen touched down after the rest of the fleet and removed themselves from the cockpit. After organizing everyone into respective groups they comned in. The station was set to conference mode so everyone could hear the other. We're ready on our end, just give the signal. responded Kyp and Corran. Everything is just about done here aswell. How about you? "We've just about finished. Green light will be in about ten minutes." answered Jacen. We'll ready. they all said. When time was ready, the Jedi marched out upon the Naboo plains. Buried deep underground was the Crystal Academy, with their master Darth Drahkann. The fleet was composed of the six Jedi, among thousands of battle troops. The Jedi rode in speeders to the enclave that was marked for bombing and drilling. It would have to be done fast inorder to keep the element of surprise. Jacen and Oden planted bombs around the area, as Corran and Xavier started to drill. When the drills dug far enough, they retracted and the others set off the charges. Knowing this would truly let their presence be known Xavier ordered for troops to start going down the tunnel. After a few hundred men entered the Jedi were in pursuit. At the end of the tunnel was a large iron gate which was easily destroyed by one charge. The men filtered in and the battle began. -----signature----- It's never about making what the people like.
