	I came out of hiding to post this little ficlet. I hope you guys like it because I had a lot of fun writing it. ~~~~ I remember. I remember him. Palpatine. There’s a box in my mind full of memories. Memories that no one will ever see: not Luke, not Ben, sometimes, not even myself. Lots of different memories. The good ones are the worst. I can handle the bad ones, the beating, the verbal assaults—I can just push those unpleasant thoughts out of my head. But the good ones want to stay. They dwell. I remember when I was young, when he used to play with me. I called him “Master Papa.” He used to smile and laugh with me. He would call me Lez Palle* which meant “Little Red.” I remember when he would come to my nursery when I was about four or five and he would play with me. We would play dolls and hide-and-seek. I knew he always knew where I was, but he would pretend to look in the wrong direction. I remember wondering if everyone had wrinkles on their face like him and if I would get those wrinkles and have to wear a hood when I got older. I remember when he came back from a long trip to on Kuat. When he came to my nursery, I ran up to him and hugged him tight, babbling about how I had missed him and everything I had done while he had been gone. He laughed and hugged me back. He gave me a doll and told me I could only keep it if I was a good girl. I tried to be good. When my training started, I slowly dropped the “Papa.” He was just “Master.” But I still loved him. And I knew he loved me. When he trained me, he hardly ever yelled. He patiently spoke and told me to try whatever, exercise we were doing again. To the galaxy he might have been a cruel and harsh tyrant, but to me he was still my “Master Papa.” He was all I knew, and when he died, everything I knew, had, and believed in was taken away. It was the worst time of my life. All brought upon by Luke Skywalker. I should thank him more often for that. Although I have those memories of Palpatine, the memories of the time we shared and the love he showered upon me, the Jedi in me realizes the pain he caused the galaxy and I close those memories off. I tie a ribbon around that box of memories reminding me just what kind of a monster my former master really was. I tie that ribbon tight and hope it holds. But I still remember. <><><><><> Like? 	Like? More like Love! I love the insights into Mara and there were many. The one I found touching was how she handled her memories. The good from the bad. Also Papa! Palpatine was a horrible man. 	Oh wow. To possibly feel guilty over the good memories she has of Palpatine? How hard is it for her to reconcile these good memories with the though of how she was manipulated, trained to be a cold hearted killer? I wonder why she would hide them from Luke? Why not bring them to the surface, he may be able to appreciate them. 	that was really very good. 	Cutie, this was amazing! I absolutely loved how you put a different spin on Mara's perspective of her master. It makes perfect sense that to be as loyal to him as she was, she would have had to have seen a different side of him.
