Is anyone else having problems with staying in continuity?

Not me. I can go in and out of continuity and not feel a thing. grin

The thing is, people have different views about what the SW continuity is. Some people try to include everything (movies, novels, audio dramas, games, etc.) while some ignore everything but the original trilogy (or the original original trilogy). Then there are those who include fanon as well, and endless permutations thereof . . . [face_splitting_headache]

For me, SW is the material I use to write fan fiction. If I see my story straying from the continuity, I just slap an Alternate Universe sticker on it and keep on writing. It also helps that I get ideas for stories about people / places / events that haven't been chronicled in great detail - or at all.

How do you mean? I know there are errors in movie continuity (I.e, Leia remembers her mother, but her mother died five minutes after she was born.) and book continuity, but I find it rather easy to keep continuity within my own series. What are you having problems with, and maybe I can help you?

That's usually how to do it. I have a very detailed fanon and so I always find the best thing to do is call my stories 'Alternate Universe'. tongue

Continuity is overrated - especially anything relating to source material other than the movies.

Even if you do your best to maintain continuity, in a year or two new material wil come along and contradict something you've written.

Just write your fics the way you want them and let continuity take a hike. happy
