I was rereading Path to Truth for a Siri Tachi fanfic I'm plotting out, and I came across this passage:

Jude Watson posted:
Her loyalty Adi Gallia was unquestioned . . . until they had fallen into a severe disagreement. Adi Gallia was known for her intuition, but not necessarily for her warmth. She had taken the most severe path a Master could - she had cut loose herPadawan without recommending her for full Jedi status. Furious, Siri had left the Temple abruptly.

Now, even though we find out the arguement was staged later in the book, what could possibly be a convincing arguement for a master to just let her apprentice go without becoming a Knight? What would the apprentice do if they did not leave the Temple?

I hope it's cool that I posted this, it didn't seem to quite fit in the Jedi Discussion board at the moment.

The Jedi Master would have to have permission from the council first. If there was a solid fact of the Padawan not performing up to Jedi standards...then they could grant the Jedi to end all teachings with that student. As to "if they didn't leave the temple", clearly they have too. The Jedi would make sure the individual was no longer residing inside the temple while others are in training. I'm sure master Yoda would say "Disruptive it is, leave you must, let another learn where you could not."

While it's not clear what the supposed argument was about in this case, I do think it would have to be something major for Siri to supposedly be kicked out of the Order. The Council understands that especially in this period, the Jedi are family, career, and religion, and that's a lot to give up.

It happened in the Defender's of the Dead, remember? And that was no fake argument Qui and Obi had, nor was it a fake desertion.

Um, I remember the Obi and Qui arguement and Obi-Wan leaving the Order. I was referring to the one that Adi Gallia and Siri Tachi had, which was faked so Siri could go undercover to stop Krayn.

I agree, that it had to be something major that they fought about. I just can't figure out what, and that's what my opening is about.

I thought about making it something like Siri wanted to finish their last mission, but Adi decided to back out due to the danger or something. I just don't have a solid idea yet.

I know you were refering to the Adi and Siri one, but we actually saw the Obi Qui one.

Try and ask yourself what drives Siri, what drives Adi and where they differ. IIRC it was about Karyn, maybe Siri wanted to stop him but Adi thought it was a bad idea. There you have a sort of Obi vs Ani argument.

No, it can't be an argument around Karyn since Siri's mission is focused on Karyn and his organization. it would not be good if Karyn got wind of what the argument was about. Perhaps it's an arguement about attachment. She did fall in love with Obi and if you think about it, Obi and Siri's discussion was similar to Anakin's and Padme's, except with different outcomes. If you don't get what i mean, i'll try to explain further.

Edit: Siri could pull an Obi and go back to help someone that her Master wouldn't let her help in there last mission.

Siri drunk the last of the Jawa Juice from the fridge. Needless to say, Adi Gallia was mad.

Jacen has a good idea, but keep in mind that SiriWan was old news by this point.
