	"I tell you," Wes Janson sighed. "It'll never work." From across the table, Wedge Antilles lifted his eyebrows at him, and then softened his expression into a look of conciliatory comfort. "I'm sorry, old buddy," he said, reaching across the table - carefully, past their beers - to grip Janson's hand in a reassuring gesture. "But you have to face facts. They're getting married." "I know," Wes sighed. "Is it just me that thinks this is... wrong?" "Perhaps it's just you that's jealous?" a crisp, mechanically-modulated voice asked, and both pilots glanced up in alarm, to see a Gammorean pilot with his arms folded across his broad chest - and, slinked up beside him, a slim girl in a flightsuit who looked like the young Princess Leia gone wild. "Uhh," Wes stammered, glancing from her to him and back again. "Colonel, Great One - congratulations on the engagement." "Thank you," Jaina Solo grinned - and both Wes and Wedge briefly felt as though they could reconquer the Galaxy from the Yuuzhan Vong, if only she asked them to. Wedge - perhaps understandably - recovered first. "Do you know what you're getting into, Piggy?" he asked, glancing at the Gammorean. "Oh yes," he grinned - swapping smiles with Jaina. "We've already explored the compatibility issues." Across the table, Janson's mouthful of beer exploded in a snort of disbelief, spattering Wedge with amber shrapnel. "That wasn't... quite what the General meant," he gasped. "I know," Jaina said, dancing close, and kissing him gently on the forehead. "Wes, you've been a great friend - and I'm sorry if this breaks your heart... but Piggy and me. We're in love." She slipped back, slipping one slim hand into the Gammorean's massive fist, then beaming up at him, a smile as open, innocent and optimistic as the one that Piggy was shining down at her. "We'd best get going," Piggy said. "We have, ah, things to do." "Yeah," Wedge swallowed. "Sure." "I thought I'd seen everything," Wes muttered, helping himself to another drink. "This is insane." "Yub yub, Janson," Wedge agreed, with a quiet, friendly smile for his old friend. But his gaze had followed Jaina Solo and Voort saBinring across the deck of the Errant Venture's officer's mess - noting how they moved together with a single rhythm, watching the way people parted instinctively for them, and finally seeing them turn to face each other, half way to the door. Jaina hugged herself tight against Piggy's belly, and he wrapped her up in his arms, and then, she was pushing up on her tiptoes and he was leaning down to meet her, both of them murmuring wordlessly as they lost themselves in the kiss, and in each other. "True love," he murmured, shaking his head, then laughing at Janson's slumped, defeated expression. 	Hm....I find myself intrigued. First of all, none of your usual machninations and confusion are present. Even your Jaina/Lowie piece is accompanied by a prologue that throws in an entirely new literary angle. This on the other hand, seems designed to shock, and push the boundaries of the believable.
