I assumed, since I wasn't spoiled, for TPM and AOTC that we'd be in the thick of the Clone Wars.

I remember that soon after AOTC was released some british guy posted a thread saying that Dexter 's droid at the dinner have offered ObiWan a Cup of Joe.
So the guy tought GL was mocking the brits.
That's the best misconception i have seen .
