wow! something I have NEVER noticed in AOTC before....
I had never noticed the red guards in Palpatine's office until last night! The scene at the very beginning in his office. Just as the group is breaking up you see 2 of them standing up against the walls. They're almost camoflauged because the walls are almost the same shade of red that their robes are!

Yeah I'd like to see a bit of story behind the red guards explained. If they are guarding Palpatine you'd think they posess some higher level of fighting skill than an average Republican soldier.
Just a thought, it would be bad ass if in Episode 3 the red guards actually are involved in some action scenes where they completely kick butt! I'd love for George to show them as lethal killing machines!

I imagine that the red-robed guards are simply a unit of the Senate Guards, perhaps with more training and experience and different uniforms. THe Imperial Guard of the Rebellion era were highly trained on Yinchorr(sp?) in martial arts forms and the like.

I started a thread about this about a year ago... The Crimson Gaurds are seen before Obi-wan Discovers the Clone Army... So Are the Gaurds Clones or Not?
Perhaps Palpatine got an Advanced Shipment... Or Perhaps the Royal Gaurd has NOTHING to Do with the Stormtroopers of the Future...

I really hate the prequels, I dont know why all the sudden this happened. I loved both at realease time, I am so happy that you guys still like them! Dont flame me! Its just that my mind now tells me the movies are terrible for some reason. I think this happened after I saw the whole LOTR trilogy in a sitting.... No offense to anyone, im glad you guys like them still!

The guards in AOTC aren't clones. If you'll notice, Valorum has some similar guards in TPM; albeit they wear blue and their faces aren't covered. Palpatine just updated their look.

I would love to see them in action for a couple scenes in Episode 3. They look so cool...
I've watched AOTC at least 10 times and I've never noticed the guards... Are they CGI or something?

I think they can be seen just before Jar-Jar is making his speech, when Windu is walking into the Senate chamber. In that case I think they really were CGI.
These guys are really turning into the Boba Fett of the PT.
