It is interesting to see Obi-Wan search for information by going to local sources. Also to see that he has established friendships outside the order.

I think Dex is a brilliant bit of CGI. Never once, unless you are really trying to notice, does Dex look animated. My only complaint is that Dex knew INSTANTLY that it was a Kamino saberdart. I don't mind that he DID know, but rather how fast he figured it out. It doesn't do the mystery sub-plot justice. For me, this was the one section with the most potential and the least amount of payoff--but I digress...

My favorite thing about the character is the he is an homage to the Hustons, John and Walter. Dexter has John's voice, the director/actor, and he is a prospector, like Walter, as Howard in "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre". I thought that was a nice touch on Lucas' part as a tribute to a fellow film maker and to an acclaimed actor. Lucas has characterized ATOC as a mystery and as having aspects of film noir, and John Huston, in one of his best-known acting roles, was in the nouveau-noir classic "Chinatown" in which Jack Nicholson played the Obi-Wan-like detective hunting down the web of deceit instigated by John Huston's character.
Now, too bad Dexter doesn't have Angelica's body. Which arm do you think Angelica wipes herself with?

I'm not sure. They didn't mention it in AOTC novelisation.
Dex is cool, he reminds me on one of my professors.

That's an incredible piece of trivia. Now a trivia of my own, Jack Nicholson acted with who in Prizzi's Honor?  Obviously everyone knows that.
