	This thread here, friends and neighbors is for discussing the love story in AOTC. Did it make all weepy and teary inside? Or did you sit and groan, counting down to the next action scene? 	Whether you accept it or not, the love story is a big part of what was responsible for bringing back disillusioned fans from TPM.

	It could have been better, but let's just say I have been expecting the worst, yet I was pleasantly surprised. I didn't cringe or anything. IMHO, it was believable, therefore it worked. Especially Padme's confession to Anakin was a very beautiful scene. Much better than I expected.

	I really bought it. I must say without Hayden it might not have worked. I loved the looks he gave Padme like he was totally in love/lust with her. I also felt Natalie portrayed the fact Padme was totally attracted to Anakin (Who can blame her!) I admit the rolling in the grass was abit much and the picnic was too idealic. However who couldn't help but fall in love in that beautiful setting. I felt that they had chemistry and we all needed to see how Luke and Leia's parents got together - I personally can't think of any other way it could have been done. -----signature----- I've seen aotc & I totally loved it. Bring on Episode 3.

	Love story worked. I believed they were in love. The lines were corny... just like dialogue in a love scene should be... no one actually quotes Shakespeare or speaks in "cool" poetry speak when they are trying to get close to another person. Their love scenes was much more realistic than people are willing to admit. People fall in love and say silly things when they are falling in love. 	RB- I agree, I said it before in 'just saw it' thread. It's very real dialogue. Anakin is a Jedi and Jedi don't talk to many girls unless they are Jedi in which case they have no chance. This is the first girl he has really tried to get with and the way he tries to touch her and what he says is what we did when we were 13 or 14 especially when it doesn't work and we get confused and frustrated. Yeah Padme's confession was maybe the best scene in the movie. "Dooku for Emporer"

	I really enjoyed the scenes, but I can understand people thinking the romance feels rushed. I liked the rolling on the grass, especially right before. When Padme runs up to Anakin thinking he's hurt, Anakin turns over and starts cracking up. He really looks happy as can be, which is quite heartbreaking knowing things to come.

	I think the romantic aspect of this movie is pretty good. Nothing great. Like Scott said, it's a little rushed. Maybe even a little contrived. Nonetheless, it serves the story. It's not too distracting. The romance in ESB is better written. (And acted out) The romance in AOTC won't go down as one of cinema's all time greats. It shouldn't be compared to Romeo and Juliet. It won't rival Casablanca. Even Raiders Of The Lost Ark had better romance. That being said, TPM had no romance. ANH had precious little. And for the record, neither does Star Trek. LOTR really has no romance. The Matrix? Ha! I just wish Lucas and company didn't make a big deal about the romance in this movie. He's just setting himself up for some serious backlash. He shouldn't have said anything at all. And that way, people going into AOTC won't be looking forward to some great romance. And Natalie Portman comparing the AOTC romance to Titanic's is a big mistake. -----signature----- "Banned" 21 x

	Spoilers*** (but you shouldn't be on this forum if you want to avoid spoilers anyway).. Bits of "romance" slightly cheesy, bits believable and bits really poignant (cause we all know how it turns out..). One thing that I realised is that at the end, when Anakin does get "married" or whatever to Padme, it is without Obi-wan's knowledge as he just states that Anakin's gone back to escort Padme to Naboo..... -----signature----- A new Galactic EMPIRE for a SAFE and SECURE future...
