	Darth Sinister, Read posts 1 and 2 of page 1 of this thread, formulate questions or make points based on that information and then I might be able to answer you, otherwise, all we will end up doing is rehashing all the information on the 75+ pages of the old "PROOF: Palpatine is NOT Sidious (lengthy proof)" thread.

	Maybe sious would use him as an extra security mesure. Also when Dooku said that sidious was cobntroling the senate, this could mean that sidious is controlling his clone in a way if the clone theory is true. 	Plo, I tend to agree with you but I still have trouble getting over the fact he used the same set and even referred to it as Palpatine's balcony, for the Sidious/Maul balcony scene. Grr, wish we had more pertinent information in this regard.

	Darth Sinister, Then ask me pointed questions so I know what it is you want to know specifically. Do you realize you also asked for novellization proof?! That's EU, which has been strictly forbidden as proof since it isn't considered canon by either side of the argument. Not to mention, there is incidence in the novellizations that Palpy eventually clones himself, sometime after RotJ. Anyway, that's neither here nor there. Ask me something specific and pertinent to the subject and perhaps we can carry on a viable discussion, and try to refrain from asking things that require a rehashing of the subjects we've already covered repeatedly.

	Just watched ROTJ last night. I was trying to determine the design of the clasp that the Emperor is wearing on his cloak. Anyone have any idea? Maybe if we had a clear shot of it, we could see if it was in the traditional Naboo styling. Not that it would prove anything, but it would be interesting. 	It looks definitely more fluid than their example. If I were to sketch it, I'd say it looked like a figure 8 with little flourishes extending from the center line to the right and from the extreme right to the end of the piece itself. If that makes sense. Anyway, this has nothing to do with if Sidious = Palpatine, from the looks of it. :/

	The novelizations are not eu. They are canon. Only elements have been left out or changed. The expanded universe stories are such as Dark Empire are not canon. Return Of The Jedi is and has no references to Palpatine cloning himself. First tier canon are the current version of the movies. Second tier are the novelizations, save for what has been changed by on screen or by the PT. (Vader's blue saber, Owen and Obi-wan as brothers) Everything else that was shown in the film, or referenced in the film are canon. (Anakin losing to Sebulba wasn't shown, but talked about. Darth Bane) Third tier are the scripts. All stuff seen in the films are canon. Other stuff are invalid by changes (Threepio being completed by Padme) or not included in the final film. (Luke and Biggs on Tatooine) Fourth tier are the radio dramas as they contain the stuff in the films. Additional material was added to them and are expanded universe. (Bail having dinner in ANH, discussing the plans for the future.) And I did ask a question. I want to see where people get the idea. Not counting eu or what not. Or the idea that it's too obivious. People assume because he changed his mind about Leia, but that isn't quite true. It's apparent way back in the second draft of ANH, that there was more to Leia than we knew. And that the next film, the audience would learn more. That idea was dropped by the third and fourth drafts. In ESB, we are told that there is another. Even my mom picked up that it was Leia upon first viewing. That she was probably a Jedi, but not a sister. Lucas went back to that idea of Leia being more than was let on. Only now, she was the sister in order to kill two birds with one stone. First to wrap the story up in ROTJ. And second to give Luke a reason to unleash his anger. Now as we've seen, Lucas has these things planned out better than he did before. Meaning that he has connected all the dots together. Establishing who is who and what connections they have to the OT characters. To say that Lucas decides to change his idea and make them clones, doesn't fit. In other words, Lucas has set ideas in his head. He may not decide when to reveal them, but he has them set in stone. Roughly. Granted he did change minor plot points. But nothing as Earth shattering, save for Leia being Luke's sister. And Odious claiming that he'd ignore the casual fan base, just to appease the hardcore ones, is also wrong. In other words, if he pulls something out of his ass like that and offers nothing that's satisfactory, then everyone will be mad. 	I think Palpatine and Sidious are 2 different people. But I dont think they are clones. I think that Sidious and Palpatine are twins who got separated when they were born or when they were young. Or Sidious must have displayed evil tendencies when he was young and Palpatine [who probaly has good qualities in him] would have pointed out to his parents something evil done by Sidious for which he would have received a beating from his parents. This angers Sidious and he holds Palpatine responsible for it. Then he probably runs away from home and is probably discovered by a jedi under whom Sidious trains and masters his Jedi powers all the while waiting for an oppurtunity to take revenge against Palpatine. As he grows up his desire to take revenge increases. Palpatine on his part doesnt mention to anyone that he had an evil twin brother who is missing since his childhood days. It was probaly his family's best kept secret. He [Sidious] is probably waiting for a chance to eliminate Palpatine and probably wants to take his place [without anyone knowing that he did it] so that he can rule and control everyone and that's why he is called Emperor Palpatine and not Emperor Sidious in Return of the Jedi.
